The idea of being in a trap was on James' mind since he arrived to the party, he was beyond bored but that didn't mean was an idiot.

He took a few drinks, and made sure that he kept an eyes on his family at all times, because as much as this seemed a pleasant party it felt like someone was playing with them.

Soon enough the note arrived, it was not threatening but it played on his already paranoid mind.

He looked for his family members again, and noticed a few were gone from the main room, he went to make sure that they were all safe.

"Do they ever serve something bigger than a snitch in these things?"

Fenrir nodded at the other, pleased that the other had followed through on the hasty promise.

"Looks like that's the last booth over there. I'm here to sit, drink, and judge if you want to share for a bit." He said awkwardly twisting the icy glass.

James nodded, he wasn't in a chatty mood but he could get behind that. Sometimes you needed to allow you mean streak to roam free if it didn't actually hurt anyone. "Thank you, appreciate the offer. The next person might believe I'm buying drinks for the whole lot.

He said following the other man to sit.

"you? you're the charmer of the group? did i hit my head? have i woke up in a different reality. is my name still remus at least?" he asked, only stopping when he broke out into a grin. he was starting to feel lighter and more awake with james' presence. he knew that if his friend wasn't there, then he would still be in bed. it was a good thought, but at least he didn't have to think about how sad that idea swallowed him. remus didn't mind becoming a test subject, wanting to find a way to dull his pain as much as james did it seemed. "tastes like piss. maybe work on coloring the taste with something better. like chocolate or strawberries," he offered. remus dragged his gaze to meet james, arching a brow. "oh yeah? what am i thinking right now?" he shifted on the couch to make room for james, grimacing slightly at the pain as the medicine still passed through him. "you do come with your own brand of security risk. but i do appreciate all of this...thank you."

James nudged Remus' elbow with his own, "I am, ho do you think I got Lily? It wasn't my smarts." he was glad that Remus' mood was improving, he knew that he would stay in bed if James was not there, and he felt a bit annoying bothering Remus at times, but still he wanted to help Remus stay in bed because he wanted to, not because the bloody moon wrecked his body.

"Oh so you noticed the piss, interesting." he joked, "how about we focus on if it works, then I can change the flavor?"

"That I look lovely in this green jersey and how long will the potion take to work?" he tried looking at Remus wince, and noticed the potion was long effect one, he made some notes, "Remember that when I wake you up next time."

"I know how to do my fucking, thank you very much" he shook his head slowly. Is not like he was whoring around like people used to say at school, but he liked to think that he knew what he was doing. At least none of his partners had ever complain about it.

"Something about the engine" he said dismissively. He was reckless, but he was not an idiot (sometimes), he would never drive on this state. "Hey, don't you dare question my need for pizza, oh my God" he scoffed dramatically. "Okay, fine, let's take the Knight Bus" he resolved, standing up from his seat.

James laughed, everything was incredibly funny, but fucking a half time was something he could not comprehend and now he couldn't stop imagining stupid scenarios. He didn't think Sirius was whoring out, he was doing what he thought was best, and James was no one to judge, even if he was a bit different.

"Does someone know how to fix flying bikes? Maybe I should get one." he pondered, it was a Sirius' thing but he did love flying. He stood up with Sirius and he tumble a little, he had more drinks that he could remember. "Let's get pizza!"

"I am a rather enchanting character," she hummed seriously, trying and failing at holding back her grin. She gave a rather unLilylike giggle at his words, her cheeks flushing pink. It didn't matter that they'd been together years at this point, claims like that, said so earnestly, still made her blush like they had in the beginning. "Me neither," she whispered, smiling against his lips. "I love you," she told him, the words like a promise.

"Another drink it is, Mr. Potter," she agreed. "Mmm, I think we should," Lily hummed softly. "It was rather fun."

James chuckled, "You are, since I've laid eyes on you I haven't been able to stop." he smiled at Lily, his hand brushing her cheek, just enjoying having a moment the two of them, even if he was happy to have all his friends around he enjoyed the little moments he had with Lily. "I love you too, and I promise to keep doing so until my last breath." he might become cornier by the drink but he didn't mind.

"I'll be right back." he stood up and went to get them more drinks, returning with hers and his.

Is not like Alecto needed the money, but she had to put a price on her knowledge. If James Potter, someone who also didn't struggle with money, didn't want to pay, then that was on him and he could find someone else to do the job. Alecto saw as he took out the money and nodded her head at his words.

"Very well" she agreed as she looked at the pages. "I can have these in... let's say ten working days?" She murmured. "You can drop by and it will be done, if I finish earlier than expected, I can owl you" she offered.

James took the payment out and left it on the table, he just wanted to have the pages as soon as possible to make Remus' potion, and he needed the translation to see if the ingredient was accurate for what he needed.

"I'll look forward for the result, if you need a copy of any other reference please owl me." he stood up, "Thank you for your time, Ms Carrow." he said formally, not wanting to be in that office any longer, something felt off.

"Oh, come now," she chimed with an easy roll of her eyes, "don't be a killjoy, Potter. It's your damn birthday, it only ever happens once a year!" Marlene said with a bright grin taking over her lips, raising her glass once more. "I solemnly swear to bring you home in piece afterwards-- or I will never hear the end of it."

James laughed and took the drink, he wasn't going to back down, he considered slowing down just to not have Lily taking care of him. Before he would just be at home with the boys but now he considered her for almost everything.

"Will Lily bite your head off if I don't arrive? Or just mine?"

"always the charmer, aren't you?" remus raised his gaze to send james a teasing, withering glare. he could feel the morning tension simmer the more james stayed. even though it had been years like this, with more years during school where he saw his friend's unfailing loyalty. he was still surprised; he was still overwhelmed with their hospitality. remus was used to hiding behind crowds, behind dark trees, but his friends took away all of his usual hiding spots. he leaned his head back against the cushions, closing his eyes as the sharp pressure behind his lids finally started to ease. a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "no, i think you covered all of them. stole the words from my mouth." He downed the first potion, the thick liquid and tasting faintly of copper and damp earth. A beat passed before for its magic worked. "i was going to say you don't have to busy yourself each month in the woods. but please, you were saying?"

James chuckled, "I'm the charmer of the group, Sirius just uses on more people." he teased, just jotting down the time and what he gave Remus, noticing that he visibly relaxed as the potion seemed to have been making it's effect. "How are the symptoms? Is the poison working it's way through you?" he joked a bit more, knowing that Remus wouldn't appreciate being treated like a patient.

"I can read minds, it's my new trick." he leaned on the back of the sofa and waiting for the potion to do its thing, he had other plans for the rest of the week with the new treatment, but he wanted to make sure his friend was well taken care of while he felt shitty first. "I have nothing better to do than to take care of family. Stop pushing me away, Padfoot tried, now he's in love with me, I won't be able to take the popularity, my ego barely fits through doors as it is."

"Please," Lily scoffed, "Sirius likes that story more than you do. I'm pretty sure he cried on my birthday when he got drunk and made that speech," she murmured conspiratorily, a cheeky grin on her lips. "Mmm, fine, I'll accept it," she said, pulling finger from his lips, albeit a little slowly as she traced his bottom lip. It was a very distracting lip.

"Hm?" she hummed, eyes focusing back on his. She laughed, smiling brightly against his lips as he kissed her. "Fine. But if I want to leave early and celebrate my handsome husband's birthday it's your fault."

James laughed, "Padfoot does love that story, but to be honest any story that ends with you is a brilliant one." he was drunk and in love and he wanted to let Lily know how much he loved her, and how happy she made him, "I can't believe I'm married to you." he admitted, leaning for a kiss just enjoying her company and her taste mixed with the drinks.

"So I should get you more drinks, Mrs Potter." he chuckled, not moving from her side, "Are we repeating this morning?"

Sirius snorted. "Hands count too, Prongsie" he pointed out with a knowing look. Way too curious and eager hands, but he was a gentleman and he would keep the details to himself.

"Is there a 24 hours open place to rent portkeys??" His eyes widened in shock, as if the tought itself were magnificent. "I would offer Betty, but she's at the mechanic and I am way to drunk to drive her" he hummed, referring to his motorcycle. "Uh... I dunno? It would take ages and don't we have to cross like a fucking canal?" He wondered, tilting his head to the side.

James frowned, trying to do a math he wouldn't be able to do even if sober. "I know hands count, you bloody git, but that's now how you do fucking." he swatted Sirius' arm as to make a point. He did know how to satisfy a woman, specially his woman, but he wouldn't talk about Lily like that.

"What is the matter with Betty? I think we are too drunk for most things." he mumbling, adding more alcohol to his system. They had done a lot of things before without planing, what was stopping them now? "It's the Knight Bus, it is faster than regular one. You don't want pizza hard enough."

Fenrir came to the bar looking for company knowing full well he was going to sit alone and watch everyone else instead. He was moving through the crowd to order from the bar when his shirt suddenly became wet. His head tilted down, sharp ears catching the words, but before Fenrir could respond in kind the man was apologizing to him.

Quickly deciding he wasn't in the mood for a bar fight, Fenrir elected to accept the peace offering. "Just came in, hadn't even had a chance to order the first one. I'll have the same." He gestured towards the other's hand with the glass of firewhiskey. Pulling out his wand to flick a quick-drying spell at himself Fenrir hesitated before doing the same to the man.

James shook the firewhiskey off his hand, his foul mood just not improving, at least he had half of the glass still intact, which was a silver lining to his crappy day.

"Brill, you just came in and this idiot just threw his drink on you." he tried for a joke, thanking the other man for drying him and finishing the remaining of his drink, ordering a second. "As promised," he took the payment for both drinks and gave him to the bartender.

rita blinked when she realized the man next to him said something, glancing down at the wireless radio and her lips pulled in disgust. "oh, it's okay," she said, her voice carrying feigned concern as she gave a pat to james' hand. "they can't hear you. do you normally talk to yourself?"

James pulled his hand as he felt the pat, that was not something someone that didn't know you. "Do you usually invade other people's personal spaces, or I'm just a lucky one?" he said sacarstically.

The blonde leaned forward so James could see her face properly as she made a disgusted expression. "I'm escorting quidditch players for their safety. Can you bloody believe that?" She complained but eased back into a grin as her friend mentioned his marriage, something Marlene still couldn't quite grasp-- her best friend was someone's husband, Lily's husband. "Do you feel all your dreams came true? Getting to spend every day with the person you love?"

"So you are telling me that you have access to Quidditch and are not sharing. That's a shitty mate." he knew what she meant, she was supposed to be doing something more than babysitting, but getting angry at the world was getting old. "In a way I do." he paused for a moment, not sure how to put into words how much having the right person by your side, "I wake up every day and know I'm where I need to be, but I also want other things, like not being in a fucking war." he knew he was where he needed to be, doing what he needed to do, yet he dared to dream. "What about you?"

James was his family, he had been the one who stood by his side in the good and in the bad. The Potters had sheltered him after that fatidic night and Sirius could only feel nothing but pure gratitude and love for his best mate. He snorted when he said he might have fucked the french. "It was one... no, two... wait no, four times and a half" he protested.

"Ohhhhhh, Italy!" His eyes widened as if James just said the magic words. "I could do with pizza and ice cream and pasta and some cannoli... one big buffet" he hummed. "A portkey... where the fuck would we get one?"

James scrunched his face as he tried to follow the conversation, "How do you fuck someone a half time?" he asked and laughed immediately as he asked the question.

"Some good cannoli, yes, we need some, and pizza, yes, please." he was now hungry and he knew that Abe wouldn't have anything as tasty as that in house. "Rent a Portkey, pay for one?" he was not sure he could charm one. "Would the Knight Buss reach Italy?"
