did it a year ago but still one of my favs!!
when i cant find my other sandal I just walk barefoot, gotta compromise
occasionally i must remind myself that i don't need to formulate a solid opinion on everything ever, actually, and i can just say "actually i really don't care about this specific discourse" and move on
you can notice how i actually don’t know how to draw, im more on the editor side tho.
Anyway, O Captain! My Captain! By Walt Whitman reminds me of Mikami and Light lollll
light Yagami is 100% against trump and im not even joking
you're 14 years old and you've never experienced an ounce of affection in your entire life (well, your mother loved you, but she's been dead for so long that you don't even remember her face). there are people that are supposed to care about you, but they use you just as much. they don't even show that much affection towards you and some of them are outright hostile. your relationship with your father is so strained and fucked up that you hold on to one half-assed compliment from him for months. not one person has ever told you they love you.
then along comes this kid and they love you. they love you unconditionally and they show it. they have no expectations for you. they say they love you. and you love them. you're able to show affection in the hesitant, anxious way you know and they are patient. they shower you with affection because they love you.
and then you're forced to kill them. they ask you to kill them and your superiors order you to kill them and there's nothing you can do but kill them. you have to kill the only person that's ever shown you any love. you have to be the one to do it. you'd rather die yourself but there's no other choice.
god. if i were shinji after that scene i would have turned around, killed everyone in nerv hq, and then myself. that's actually so fucked up. it's so fucked up.
one of the biggest mischaracterization of Light is him being performative.
He is not OCD about perfection nor cant stand when he isnt being perfect- he is perfect, and that bores him.
I understand where this mistake comes from. All the series was Light being.. well, OCD for perfection but not because of validation, but because he was trying to hide being a mass serial killer by acting like his innocent self, who happends the be perfect naturally
thinking about how post-memory loss light would definitely be heavily masking to cope with the stress of the situation + how L would clock that shit IMMEDIATELY
now that we've seen what it'd be like for shuichi and kaede to take on DR1 as a duo, how do you think they'd tackle SDR2 as a duo? and do you think anything would drastically change thanks to their presence?
Saimatsu in THH
(I'm assuming they replace Hajime.)
Okay, in the THH post I kind of took it for granted that Shuichi and Kaede imprint on each other in that scenario just like they do in V3, but them sticking together in V3 feels at least in part like a result of them waking up in the same room, which probably wouldn't be the case in THH and definitely wouldn't be the case in SDR2.
So, first things first: What, if anything, draws them together?
This is a situation where no one passes out on the beach, and presumably Nagito goes off by himself (since I actually don't think he'd imprint on anyone else there). Nagito's introduction spot would be on the Central Island, since I think only Imposter is there in canon.
When the group disperses after Usami's exposition, I think Kaede would go to the airport and Shuichi, meaning to just look around, would end up on the farm. So, the introduction phase is spent with Kaede trying to convince Kazuichi that he can fix the airplanes and Shuichi getting called names by Hiyoko until he says something back and she bursts into tears. Shuichi runs away because he made Hiyoko cry. Meanwhile, Kaede is frustrated that Kazuichi wants to just accept defeat, kick back, and enjoy the vacation and Gundham is being deliberately difficult to understand, so she leaves the airport looking for another way.
They run into each other, and Kaede is basically like, "Hey, you said you're the Ultimate Detective, right? Have you figured anything out about this place?"
And Shuichi is drawn to her positivity and proactiveness, and they stick together from there.
While Nagito doesn't imprint on either of them the way he does Hajime, he does identify them as the protagonists of this experience and hype them up a bunch while also making things harder for them on purpose. In this situation, Nagito is not providing very much help during the trials at all. He is sometimes trying to confuse Shuichi or provoke Kaede.
Shuichi being someone who will lie during the trials fascinates Nagito, and I think sometimes he accepts it as a means to an end and doesn't challenge the lies at all and sometimes he immediately calls them out and argues them down because they offend his sensibilities. (The latter is kind of like his canon moment where he says that Mahiru made her own choice and wasn't tempted by Nagito; there are moments where he feels strongly about how he wants the dead to be remembered. And he will shoot down a lie that makes things seem less cool. Like, "The murder was excellently planned and executed; I'm sure the killer wouldn't really make such a stupid mistake.")
Kaede and Shuichi might sneak and play the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case game.
One of them probably gets Despair Disease. Probably Kaede.
And if no one else kills before she does, Kaede will probably do something rash in the Chapter 4 Funhouse. The ticking clock "everyone dies" kind of motive is one that tends to challenge her.
Random prompt: Arranged marriage.
Kaworu and Shinji are:
