For starters, “we can take reports regarding this kind of material” isn’t “it’s verified”. In general, illustrated child porn is not illegal in the United States.

Secondly, “non-photographic child porn”, as its known, is such a stupidly minor offense with such stupidly minor punishment rates that 99% of the time it’s going to result in no legal action. Plus the police get massive mostly NEGATIVE media buzz everytime they try and do this in the first place, so they don’t, it’s not worth their time. I feel like this has been talked literally to death. The founders and current runners of AO3 have talked about it and their reasons. You can go to AO3 and see why the site is run the way it is. Hell if you dig around tumblr you can find the first posts of the people who made the site. If you do not agree with how the site is ran then I think you should not donate and not use the site. It’s that simple.

Also the fact that this discourse is happening on tumblr which is filled with pedophiles and nazi’s blows me away. Like the disconnect? 

Anyone who donates and uses AO3 does so because they have chosen too. No one is forced to go to AO3. It really makes me wonder, if the site gets sold to some Google/yahoo/whatever company then will no one care about the content? 

I guess I just don’t understand why people, who do not use or donate to a website, are so bent out of shape and upset about it while continuing to use sites that host literally the same content and worse. I don’t get it.

If you do not agree with AO3′s website and services then you should not use AO3′s websites and services.

Actually, they’re completely correct in their labeling. Yaoi refers to mlm fanworks, and this is a Naruto fanfic, so it’s accurate.

Let me clear this up. Yaoi = Mlm fanworks, BL = Mlm fiction, fujoshi = any women who likes mlm stories. I also need to point out that if a licensed member of law enforcement was creating an "evidence collection" outside of extremely specific circumstances that their superiors are aware of and condone, then they would be collecting and be in possession of CSEM. Whether they'd be charged our not is a whole different matter, but that's because of corruption.

People cannot collect something illegal with claims that it's "evidence". If you found out that your neighbor was making cocaine, you can't take a couple crates of it, shove it in your closet, and then tell the police that you were "collecting evidence". That isn't how it works.

that is literally not true at all, age of consent was originally meant as the age when children could marry, since marriage had to be consummated. It was basically puberty, thinking along the lines of “if they can have sex they can consent to marry”. 

Seems somewhat vague on whether or not this was actually enforced since there are marriage records in Britain with ages listed below even that. It was “officially” coded as what we see age of consent laws today (the age limit that defines stautory rape) in the statute of westminster in 1275 which made it specifically illegal to have sex with a girl under the ‘age of consent’ (again, considered likely yo be puberty).

American colonies adopted this as a guideline not a law and between the 15th and 18th centuries a bunch of other countries made similar laws, mostly using similar ages (~11-14) inlcuding denmarr, germany, italy, france, portugal, spain. Keep in mind back then birth certificates weren’t really a thing everyone was supposed to have so it could be difficult to prove age to enforce a law.

In the 1880′s, London had basically a child prostitution epidemic that the general public wasn’t really aware of (not surprising, considering how much people underestimate prevalence of sex traficking and prostitusion today and we have modern media/internet to learn about this stuff). When a bunch of information and articles were spread about it the public called for the age of consent to be raised and in 1885 it was made 16 (once again in London).

I could go on but that last bit made my point. Age of consent laws were not made by pedophiles, they were started as rules for marriage and became what we have today to stop child prostitution
