So like, having Lars be ambiguously brown for 4 seasons with no mention of his culture in show other than a creator stating that he’s not white, then finally get a confirmation clue to his background through this cake, then shortly after he has his skin color, (the only constant reminder that he’s not totally white for 4 seasons + a cake that shows up in one episode) changed to this bright pink color? Like, that’s not suspect to any of ya’ll? 

Like, I get it if you’re not constantly so desperate for representation that little changes like changing the already light skinned Filipino boy’s skin tone isn’t a big deal for u, but when multiple people of color are saying that there’s something not right about it? And your first response is “of course it’s not racism”? 

Racism isn’t always overtly hostile. Something can be racist and damaging without it being an direct hate thing. Like, this whole pink Lars thing might not be intentional, but it was still a bad choice on a show that already has a track record of handling their characters of color poorly.

I want SU to explore Jasper’s frustration at the crystal gems winning because of fusion!!!! I know what it’s like to be frustrated because you don’t have that one thing everyone else has, so it feels like you keep losing! I want Jasper to learn that she has qualities outside of fighting that makes her special!! I want Jasper and amethyst to relate about how they feel they’re less then everyone else in different ways!

Why Yellow is shaded, and Blue is not: 

Yellow has an ulterior motive—she conspired to shatter Pink Diamond because she wanted Blue for herself. Thus, she gets depth to her portrayal, much like there is depth to herself. 

Blue has a singular, transparent motive—she grieves Pink Diamond. Thus, she gets flat shading.

okay honestly i feel like the show is slightly self aware at this point because the plot moved so fast and the characters, who usually act dumb as shit for the plot to move as slowly as possible, figured things out way faster than usual and it was surprising. also i only liked the trial because of zircon and how good the points she made were lol

FIRST GRIPE why did Lars’s skin have to change color. yeah it’s not whitewashing cause it’s bright bubblegum pink just like Lion’s fur but they could have made it like, a brown pink. you know. like they really could have colors like that are possible, Lion and Lars don’t need the exact same palette for it to be able to translate. also i still think Lars is mixed black so like the shit with his hair is a little hmmmmmmmmm anyway. Don’t Like That.
