Americans-
NASA NEEDS YOUR HELP!
In case you haven’t seen it, this news has been circling the internet today:
“This would decimate American leadership in space.”…
TL;DR:
The pending budget plan to be proposed by the WH will include enormous cuts to the current NASA budget. Such cuts would be devastating to not only my career, but the future of American space and earth/climate science research.
The current draft includes:
A Two-thirds cut to astrophysics
Greater than two-thirds cut to heliophysics
Greater than 50 percent cut to Earth science
30 percent cut to Planetary Science
Zero funding for the Roman Space Telescope (the next-gen JWST, which we’ve already begun building)
Forced closure of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center(and the loss of 10,000+ associated jobs)
Much more
NASA’s current budget only comprises 0.36% of the total federal budget ($0.0036 per dollar spent by the government)
You have benefitted from NASA’s work, the cell phone in your hand is a result of government investment into the sciences. Please, consider contacting your representatives requesting they support the future of science in the United States. The Planetary Society has created an easy tool to do so in a matter of minutes:
The Planetary Society is organizing a new space constituency that is educated, empowered, and loud.

Big sorry I haven’t been posting y’all I’m not in classes anymore and as much as I love research the day-to-day lacks the Studyblr aesthetic
see the THING IS I don't feel like I ever worked hard enough to have "earned" the burnout, which is. probably how we got here.
it really is crazy how quickly people were willing to just let chatgpt do everything for them. i have never even tried it. brother i don't even know if it's just a website you go to or what. i do not know where chatgpt actually lives, because i can decide my own grocery list.
what's up everyone I havent posted in a while I am straight up not having a good time right now
✦ Studyblr Introduction ✦
Hello! If you´re reading this, welcome to my blog! I am pretty new to Tumblr, but I´ve always admired the Studyblrs here, so I thought of making one too. I am really excited to start this, so let´s go!

the hadron collider is like an angel to me
>large >unbelievably powerful >hurts to look at for too long
^ this is an angel
-wheels within wheels (look at it (and this picture doesn't even really convey the scale of interconnected circular structures))
-covered in eyes (sensors)
-too large to see the whole thing at once
-too intricate for one mortal mind to grasp the whole thing at once
-brings cryptic messages about the nature of reality
-benevolent, but will kill you with invisible rays if you try to fuck with it while it's on the job
This makes scientists and technicians priests, which also tracks in some ways.
I love reading, but there’s something about the first 2 or 3 chapters of a new book that are just the worst sometimes
SLURM is mad at me and won’t tell me why
Odds my prof rounds an 84.26% up to an A- (85 is the cutoff on the syllabus)?
No fucking chance
Of course they will!
