Imagine
a lot of tucutes basically say that they’re not making it harder for those with dysphoria to get hormones or to be taken seriously
but
my psychiatrist literally doesn’t trust me when i say im 100% sure i need T because she met two different “trans” who used nounself pronouns in the last month
so fuck you and fuck your pronouns
tbh im dropping it as its not like its gonna actually do anything and they keep trying to drag me into a different debate
"It's not hurting anyone if I say I'm trans and don't have dysphoria"
It is. It absolutely is hurting people suffering with this condition. Because when you say you’re trans but you don’t have dysphoria - you just “feel like a man because you like to wear suits”; you’re perpetuating the idea that transsexualism is just a reaction to gender roles. People need to know that what I have is a medical condition, not a choice. And you saying that anyone can “choose to be trans” means that the majority of people don’t understand that.
So I have to go stealth and be misunderstood by the majority of people.
On the behalf of dysphoric trans people, stop saying that you’re not hurting anyone.
You are.
This is a bit hard to argue for and against because either way you’re erasing people
Except it’s quite difficult to erase “non dysphoric trans people” as the phrase is a direct contradiction and so they don’t actually exist.
I keep thinking about this post and I just need to get this down
It’s not really erasure to say that “you need to have dysphoria to be trans”, the same way it wouldn’t be erasure to say “you cant be diabetic without the symptoms of diabetes”
Certain labels have a requirement for one to be considered part of that group, it’s not erasure, it’s just how things are classified so that we can refer to and describe things without too much confusion. Removing or drastically changing the definition of a label kind of destroys its meaning, like what is currently happening with the label ‘transgender’.
I have seen people include any person that is gender variant in it, making anyone even slightly outside of normal societal gender expectations suit the label that was intended for people who are experiencing dysphoria and (often) transitioning. The same with drag kings/queens, transvestites, people who are intersex and several other groups. These are all labels of their own and don’t really need to be under the ‘Trans umbrella’ as many call it. Being transgender isn’t a spectrum nor is it a catch all term
Labels are not all inclusive things, they need to exclude certain things to have a definition in the first place is what I’m getting at
RBing this because this comment needs to be seen - v well argued
Im sorry but isnt the argument the same for male and female? Labels are not all inclusive things, they have to exclude certain things to have a definition?
Like yes this is a good and important post, and Im sorry to deflect the original meaning… but I found it a tad hypocritical to read that while people are out here saying trans women are female and trans men are male (aka female and male dont have exclusive, set definitions anymore) as it makes it harder for us women to point out sex based oppression so we can fight against it.
This is a pretty fair point, or part is.
Some definitions are more ‘fuzzy’ than others, sorter edges and meanings. Medical conditions I think should stay strict in their meanings, the ability to diagnose correctly depends on it.
What do you use as a definition for male and female? Ability to produce ovum or sperm? Chromosomes? Genitalia? All three have their pros and cons when used to define sex.
Until you can define them clearly it will be hard to discuss this
Humans are sexually dismorphic. There are set definitions for male and female, and here is just one post you can read so you can educate yourself a lil about it. Pros and cons.. I guess, but that’s only because development disorders are disorders. There are strict meanings for males and females (99.9999% of the world is either male or female) and I think they should stay strict, so we can properly fight back against sex based oppression that only females face.
So yeah, I hope you understand why this post shared by trans activists is a tad hypocritical, seeing as us radfems can say something as simple as “there are two sexes and they matter for various reasons - especially when it comes to feminism” and we get death threats.
Thank you but I am well versed in Intersex conditions seeing as I have one.
The post you linked to does not give any definitions for male or female, it just explains several intersex conditions” with literally no sources listed for any of the information given other than “I’m totally a medical professional guys, honest!!!”
Are you able to give me the definition you personally use for ‘male’ and ‘female’ rather than linking to a broken blog with no pertinent information?
Before I give you a definition of male and female (which is really honestly taught in 5th grade) are you honestly saying there are more than two sexes when it comes to humans? Or that male and female do not have set definitions? Because if so, I’m gonna just need you to think real hard and honestly question yourself as if trans activism has skewed reality.
There are two sexes: male and female.
Females face sex based oppression due to our sex characteristics and secondary sex characteristics, ability to become pregnant and bear children. Females have XX chromosomes (there are instances and abnormalities, but those rare instances do not disprove human’s sexual dimorphism) and have vaginas, vulvas, uteruses and cervix, tend to menstruate.
Males have XY chromosomes (again, instances and rare exceptions including -disorders- but medical disorders do not disprove the female and male sexes much like being born with nine toes does not disprove humans are born with ten) can produce sperm, has outside sex organs such as a penis and testicles, has a prostate and carries the SRY gene.
These are basic explanations but seriously if you think female and male do not have set definitions, then why does ‘transgender’ have to have a set definition? If there are rare instances of disorders that challenge the definitions of male and female, there must be instances of people that challenge the definition of transgender, yeah? Or are only trans activists allowed to change definitions?? Its wildly hypocritical to say 'transgender’ has to have a respected definition, but not male or female.
Thank you for actually answering the question I asked. I’m glad we are making some progress in this discussion.
You have repeated that the definitions are set, yet you yourself state in both definitions that there are exceptions to them, so they are not as clear cut as you keep making them out to be.
Look at the definition of ‘life’, it has long been controversial as to what it should mean. Are viruses included? Would artificially created life count as an organism?
Even ‘sex’ has several definitions, yours being one of many. Some use a 5 point criteria, most far less. The operational definition, for example, only refers to gamete production.
Medical conditions however most often have strict diagnostic guidelines that only change with a consensus from the medical community.
This is my point, some things are very strictly defined, others are not.

question
:
Someone give me a quick rundown on what mlm even...
MLM stands for ‘male loving male’. It’s been growing in popularity over the past year or so as a term to use.
I keep seeing it used by quite cis women though, which is what is really confusing me
Someone give me a quick rundown on what mlm even is pretty please?
"Anti-truscum are a conservative’s greatest ally" You know I always thought Anti-truscum were just like a weird new-age millenial hipster version of regular conservatives. Anyway, what is "semi-pro mime" ?
Someone who mimes for money but doesn’t really do it full time and doesn’t paid for every event
I lost the gig after having my mime license revoked by the mime council for miming during a mimers strike.
So I will make this properly active again once I look into the current state of things, but probably a bit toned down from what I was like in the past. I also need more blogs to follow now only 4 or 5 blogs i follow have posted in the last year
So updates I guess: Still trans, still truscum, still prepared to address misinformation with arguments and evidence, no longer a semi-pro mime
As much as anti-truscum cry and bawl about “gatekeeping” it’s pretty much down to their dumb asses why gatekeeping hasn’t eased at all in the medical community.
I and someone else I’ve known have been waiting for years to get any treatment, I’m still waiting for a psychologist appointment.
Just because they want to be absolutely sure I’m not one of those twits who’ll just become dysphoric afterwards because they’re moronic enough to think “oh you don’t need dysphoria, that’s just those NASTY MEANIE POO TRUSCUM”
On top of doing their darndest to make sure trans people aren’t taken remotely seriously, they’re really doing the transphobes proud. Anti-truscum are a conservative’s greatest ally, pushing things like how dysphoria don’t real and it’s all a pretty fashion statement!
Thanks a fuckin’ load, assholes.
