“At the very least, I want to give you some moments to relax. I know I wish I had such moments when I was your age.” Oh how he wished he could have had a normal childhood.

He might actually know what he considered ‘fun’.

Miles leaned back in the chair and listened closely, he knew Julian strived very hard to try and make his life easier in anyway he could. He was more of a father to him then Amadeus ever was, he could still remember his father chasing him with a butcher knife in a drunken haze. He closed his eyes to shut that memory out, a memory he wished he could forget for good, but would likely always be haunted by.

“ Normal? hmhm, define normal, i don’t think i can recall a normal day in my short life. I was always either running from the law, or fighting off rivals...conflict and trials has been par for the course... honestly these past few years have been about as complacent as i could ask them to be. “

He chuckled slightly glancing off to one side

“ I have a lavish home, i live the high life... i get to go to various parties, and entertain rich dullards daily. As much as i complain about all that, it is as close to a normal life as i could ask for... even with Alicia looming over me in the distance...honestly, without your influence i wouldn’t have had these past few years to enjoy... so i think in some way, you’ve achieved that desire in a round about way “

That’s probably the worst way you could introduce yourself to someone. Who is this guy? He’s starting to freak me out a little… With a small sniffle, he wipes at his eyes. He takes a deep breath in and out before he speaks. “I-I’m fine now. T-Thanks.” Slowly the kid stand himself up, rubbing at his chest, around where he had been kicked. That’s gonna be sore for a while. Stupid jerk. “I..I’m used to it…K-Kinda..’

He shook his head at the Sonic Alternate, his tails giving a sway behind him as his suit shifted slightly. “ Use to it? so you simply allow them to bully you? “ He questioned with his eyes as cold as the moment he first spoke. “ Why don’t you fight back? your a Sonic for Chaos Sake, don’t allow such vile behavior to go unpunished... “ He grumbled his fur standing on end, having been the source of such bullying himself when he was younger do to his tails, he was livid at hearing the boy was treated the same way.

“ Take it from me, if you continue to allow it to happen... things will only get worse. Sooner or later someone will hurt you severely...”

His hand gripped his knee as if it told the story for him

“ But i suppose it’s not my place to judge how you handle yourself... if you are sure you are well i’ll take my leave... but i do not like the idea of allowing such creatures to harm an innocent boy, you should not have to endure such indignities “

Angelica takes note of the fox’s look. It was clear he was on to something.

“Yes, I’m sure you figured it out by now. I’m the actual monarch. Puff here wasn’t even a noble prior to our marriage…”

Puff gasped in exasperation. He hated it when they discussed his non noble status.

“Please, Mr. Shinra, I’m not just some commoner who…”

Angelica sighs.

“I never said that dear! We can talk about our history later… now then…”

“Tell me about this Materia!”

Miles gave the King Consort one final glance with his strange eyes,as if there was some sort of energy flowing within them. He wasn’t one to judge another culture, it wasn’t his place nor did he benefit from doing so. He simply nodded to acknowledge the Queen, and reached down to his cane removing one of the green orbs from it. “ This is Materia, to put it simply one who wields Materia can access ancient knowledge of the planet... In a more practical sense it allows one to bend the laws of physics in small ways to achieve various effects. “ He explained as he slid the orb back into place.

“ Doctor’s and Medic’s are mostly things of the past in my world, as Materia can heal wounds, cure ailments and fix most common forms of illness. Even more advanced disease like Cancer can be managed with regular uses of the Right Materia...it also has some military applications but i fear the No-Zone would look poorly on my selling of offensive weaponry to other worlds “

He shifted his eyes to the left

“ i could give you a Demonstration if you’d like, though i’d need a clear area to do so “

“Very well, let’s discuss this with my husband! Puff! we have visitors!”

From the upper floors , a voice is heard, one that sounds apathetic.

“And this affects me how?”

Angelica is silent for a few moments, sighs,  then turns to Miles.

“Pardon my husband…”

“PUFF! GET DOWN HERE!!!”

“Alright! I’m coming! I’m coming!” A diminutive Pufferfish enters the scene. He then takes a seat.

“What the da…”

He clears his throat. He didn’t like strangers, but he knew when to be polite.

“Greetings! I am Puff! King consort of Meropis! What brings you here, fox?”

Watching the supposed King enter the room, and just how his Wife reacted it became clear to Miles rather swiftly just who was really in charge here. He swished his twin tails through the water, as if it were air, his Materia seeming to push the water around him, and kept the pressure reasonable fr him. It was working better then he could have hoped. His eyes met the Kings only briefly as he had no way to know if that would end up being rude in there culture.

Miles gave a slight bow careful of his bad knee as the slight girl whirling could be heard from his brace, as it compensated for him. “ Greetings your Highness, it’s a pleasure, I am Rufas Shinra, CEO of Shinra Electric “ He reintroduced himself to be polite and respectable even if it was clear he was more of a figure head and less of an actual royal. He had alot of questions about these two--- but he’d leave that for later.

“ I fear my being here is sheer chance, though i suspect the Queen is more interested in my corporation and our products then who i am, or where i come from... i suppose i could sate her curiosity if she’s inclined to allow me to... i’m always looking to expand my business ventures. “

Angelica squints in confusion. She didn’t know if she could trust this fox. Still, rudeness is never an option for a queen. She gives a similar bow.

“I am Angelica I, Queen of the Great Blue Realm!”

Angelica always spoke to strangers with a regal air, for to speak any other way would be an insult to her entire dynasty.

“You are presently in Meropis, the underwater capital of my, pardon me, our kingdom. This wall was built by my ancestor, Poseidon the Great, to serve as center of all undersea life! I am pleased to meet you. Tell me, Shinra, what is this Shinra Electric?”

He smiled but it was a fleeting smile, as his eyes turned to one side, thinking how best to answer that. He took a moment to admire the room as he thought on what his company did on the surface, it wasn’t to complicated. But he also knew he had to speak clearly she was an actual royal after all. In terms of blood lines she was the equivalent to Alicia.

“ Well simply, we provide Mako Power to the citizens of my world, across many cities and even a couple different nations now. We own several subsidiaries as well, everything from medical, to entertainment ... in fact we were so successful that just a few years back we began the Midgar project, simply a city founded by Shinra... i am afraid i could be here all day talking about our many products though we are most well known for our Materia “

The fox had a distinct Limp and a Brace on his right knee, with a slight whirling sound, as if gears were turning when he walked. He extended his hand toward the hedgehog offering to help him back to his feet “ Yet you are crying yes? people don’t cry if they are ok... so i’ll ask again are you hurt? “ He tilted his head and despite what he said was no ill intent in those cold eyes. Emotionless as they were, it was impossible to hide that tinge of concern. His twin tails swaying from side to side. Was no escaping it, this was Miles just---much older and with injuries that told a sad tale.

“ You have nothing to Fear from me boy, if i wanted to hurt you--- i have people for that...in fact i have people, who have people who have people for that... i don’t abide cruelty, especially from those grey beasts “

The fox placed his Cane firmly against the floor of the Hall, and leaned on it, do to his busted knee even in the water he needed the support. Thankfully his Materia gave him the ability to breathe, and protected him from the pressure but that didn’t mean he was oblivious to his situation. He’d warped himself right into some sort of Palace Hall, He’d have to approach this with Tact.

Miles gave a slight bow of his head in a very respectful manner

“ CEO Rufas Shinra of Shinra Electric Electric, a Business man and inventor by trade “

He spoke with a regal air, of his noble birth, those classes he took as a child coming in handy for a change.

“ As to how i arrived in your home, in fear  your home is not on any of my present maps of this zone. So i was unaware was any life here, let alone such a lavish home. As to my purpose, well as i said i’m an inventor i was testing some underwater technology, which i’m happy to say works rather well.. i hope i am not intruding i do apologize for the sudden arrival “

Julian got the scans he needed and handed it back. “I’ll get my factories to start mass producing this model instead of my own. I hadn’t given it much thought, admittedly…. No Zone isn’t as much of an issue for me as it has been for you.”

“But I’ll give you access to my workforce as well as my Cogs to help construction of your city. I’ll just need some blueprints so I can see what you do with it… see what advice I could give you.”

“….As for Alicia… It’s sad you can’t just outright kill her. Or even erase her from existence….” He mused, thinking of his Ultimate Annihilator. It had been a while since he thought about it, admittedly….

He glanced to one side and flicked his large ear “ it was a problem early on for me, do to Scourges crime, they labeled us all as high risk targets. Not that they weren’t wrong... hell i was the one that gave him the idea...  i never thought he’d take it so far--- but i’m far from innocent in the matter “ He admitted with a shrug of his shoulders. “ I was 8, and wanted power i guess i hardly understood what it all meant “ He wondered how true that was, did he really grasp the levity of what he did?

“ Alicia? if i wanted her dead Father, i’d have killed her long ago. No, that’s what is expected of me. To play that hand would only prove them all right. She has to destroy herself... even if i have ot save the planet from her madness in the end--- I have to play it this way. I can’t let the monster free... that would only feed that part of myself i’ve worked so hard to overcome. “

“I should have asked you about this earlier…. I’ll have to put this into mass production…” He said as he caught the ring, scanning it. “Honestly, we should do this sort of thing more often…. The exchange of technologies…” He mused. “Perhaps your city might benefit from a branch of Robotnik Industries….”

“At the very least, it would allow me to assist you in the protection of your city. Though admittedly, I am having trouble with my own… only somewhat… Snively will be dealt with, ultimately… and Metal Sonic will as well…. I will not fall to such villains…”

He didn’t mind Loaning the Ring to Julian for a time, if he could find a way to replicate the process with Mana all the better. Which honestly wouldn’t take to much reconfiguring considering the prototype used mana to begin with. It was one of his first Mako based projects, he had needed it to avoid detection so he could even visit Julian. He never thought to share the design, and had always assumed Julian had a variation of this technology. “ It uses a normal Warp Ring as a base so, it’s more of a modification i can send a blue print of the old prototype over, if you like. It was Mana based but once i discovered Mako i converted the energy type as it’s more readily available in my own zone “ He explained as he took a seat across from Julian.

“ You are more then welcome to Set up a subsidiary on the upper plate once we have reached that point in then building phase. But Midgar is a big project, the wall around us took alot of resources, getting the reactors online was phase 2--- we are only just starting to building housing districts and the like, it could be some time before we are ready... the sabotage wasn’t helping but i suspect i know the source, and it won’t be easy to quash “

He sighed

“ Alicia maybe mad but she’s not a fool, she knows attacking us directly would likely turn the people on her, and they have come to rely on our technology. So she has to do it in the shadows... i suspect i’ll link her to it eventually but for now i just need to insure the damage is kept to a minimum... “

“For the most part. Other than my nephew managing to finally grow a pair and revert me back to my human state…. And the worry that he’ll attack at any moment. And my Metal Sonic is still missing and sabotaging my efforts to begin colonizing the star system….”

“So I suppose, par for the course. Perhaps we should develop a Magi-Tek portal technology, stop using Warp Rings… just to circumvent No Zone.”

“I do hope that if they prove to be more than you can handle that you will come for my aid…. I’ve been needing a reason to grind them into dust.”

Initially Miles was worried about Julian hearing that he was no longer a Phoenix and had been reverted back to his human state. That made him far more vulnerable, well no more then himself probably. Which was to say no one in there right mind would even consider confront them without a small army at there back. Patch made that mistake and now he was rotting in one of his cells--- no that wasn’t accurate, tortured was the better term. Miles didn’t have any mercy for those who tried to harm his city. He’d make Patch regret ever crossing him. 

Miles flipped his warp ring to Julian, it was white with blue energy circling along the circuitry pattern. It was distinct and the material was, almost plastic in feel though very tough despite that.

“ I did that a long time ago, i knew they’d be watching me so i developed that using early Magi-Tek i had gleened from you. Since then i’ve applied Mako technology to it. So far i don’t think they realize i even have it... since it doesn’t use chaos energy, i doubt they even know what to look for... at least not yet “

I have walked across the surface of the sun. I have witnessed events so tiny and so fast, they could hardly be said to have occurred at all. But you, Miles, you are just flesh and blood. The world's smartest fox poses no more threat to me than does its smartest termite.
