Healing can only exist on the other side of atonement. Healing looks like empathy, sensitivity, education, action and robust change. The country's shame of the past and uncertainty of the present and future is a breeding ground for progress. However, the practice of turning a blind eye to the elephant in the room (Slavery, Rapings, Jim Crow, Lynchings, Bombings, Shootings, Mass Incarceration, Genocide of unarmed Black Men & Women, etc.) that continues to haunt and psychologically maime African Americans in this country must be retired. America needs #therapy. The trauma she has imposed on generations of Black Americans runs deep, but here we are.
