me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.
me as an adult: teenagers are an oppressed class, their abuse is normalised and systemic and they need to start killing people
Iâd die on the hill that âstranger dangerâ is a deeply unhelpful mentality to have. âOoooh everyone is out to get me theyâre all gonna perpetrate harm thatâs actually more likely to come from someone I already know. I better never talk to anyone in my community who I donât already know, just to be safe. Iâm sure there are no other biases interwoven with this mentalityâ like oh my god human traffickers do not just randomly spawn in every parking lot. You donât have to go solo hitchhiking across the country but you also donât have to live in fear that every guy on the street is the knife man whoâs gonna get you. Like have situational awareness, yeah. But most of the time the guy on the street is not knife man heâs actually just a guy on the street and heâs probably pretty chill, and youâre driving yourself crazy by living in a constant state of unnecessary fear.
letâs be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
I think leftists need to refer to the United States as a slave (nation) state more often. It has one of the highest prison populations per capita of any nation, slavery is legal as punishment for a crime, and Black people are disproportionately imprisoned and given longer sentences. I once said something along the lines of "why does everyone assume that every gnc cis man is an egg" and was harassed for it and sarcastically told that obviously the treatment of cis men should be our biggest concern and that I didn't know anything about egg culture (I do). You do realize that gnc people are queer too, right? You realize I can concern myself with "smaller" problems, because I love gnc people and am concerned about their well-being? You realize that telling people they must be trans because of their presentation is just as bad as telling someone must be cis for the same reasons?
I'm never going to shut up about how shitty the queer community treats gender non-conforming people, especially gender non-conforming men.

Some people in asylums in the 50s were crazy. Some of them were psychotic, screaming at things nobody else could see. Some of them were aggressive, kicking and punching and biting without provocation. Some of them were a danger to themselves. Hell, some of them were a danger to others. And they were people. They were human beings. And all human beings deserve human rights, something those people, by law, didn't have.
Some people in mental hospitals now are crazy. Some of us are psychotic. Some of us are aggressive. Some of us are a danger to ourselves. Some of us are a danger to others. And we are still humans, who deserve human rights, which we legally do not have.
Some of us, a few of the crazy people you talk about, are exactly what you say we are. Psychotic, aggressive, a danger to ourselves and others. That doesnt change the fact that we are human. That doesnt change the fact that every individual human that exists, has ever existed, and will ever exist deserves human rights. That doesnt change the fact that we don't have those human rights in every situation. "Few of us are aggressive," while true as a statement, fails to acknowledge and insist that those of us who are still deserve to be treated with the same dignity and respect as any other person.
I love the weird little communities that spontaneously form when public transport malfunctions. Today I took a railway replacement bus while talking to a cheerful older man, a meth head (?) football fan, a grandma with her granddaughter going to a pony ride and a cosplayer trying to track down her anime body pillow package that got lost in the mail and by the end of it I was actually a little bit sad that the drive was over because we'd had so much fun talking to each other. I think that's how humans are always supposed to be like tbh.
letâs talk about how they made it impossible to function without a phone and digitalised everything and then turned around and went âactually! these phone things arenât safe for kids but itâs magically ok once youâre eighteen. guess youâll have to have your life dictated by your parents now lol cause weâre gonna take the devices away from you. So I was scrolling and saw this image in an article about the European heat wave,
And was like, uh, are you missing something there, buddy? Like all that red in northern Africa? Because that's a lot of red.
And I was going to give them the benefit of doubt, since I don't know much about the climate in Northern Africa, aside from Morroco and Egypt, which seem like really hot places, so you know, maybe it's normal there?
But nope, that's not the case:
