From Al-Araqib to Susiya Forced Displacement on Both Sides of the Green Line Adalah captures the stories of two Palestinian villages, Al-Araqib and Susiya – one in Israel, one in the West Bank – that share a single story of struggle against forced displacement.
The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd–The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.

Greece is currently battling over 100 fires and needs every bit of help it can get. Over the last couple of weeks Greece has been experiencing its worst heatwave in more than three decades, temperatures reached 45°C in some regions and have dried out our very dense pine forests making it very easy for the fire to spread very fast. Hundreds of houses and many villages have been destroyed by the blazes in the island of Evia, the northern suburbs of Athens and the Peloponnese (flames have even threatened Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games). Athens is engulfed in smoke, the Greek health authority reported levels of up to 465 micrograms of fine dust per cubic meter in the city center, the EU limit is 50 micrograms. Thousands of people have fled their homes, thousands of animals have been burned alive or suffocated by the smoke and over 10.000 acres of forest land have been reduced to ashes.
Here are some ways you can help:
➔ If you are able to, please donate to the Hellenic Red Cross with the indication Πυρκαγιές :
Αρ. Λογ/σμού: 0026.0240.30.0201205013
IBAN: GR2602602400000300201205013
Swift Code: ERBKGRAAXXX
➔ You can support the reforestation in the affected areas by donating here
➔ You can also donate to this animal shelter that helps stray animals and animals that have been affected by the fire. The shelter has been burned to the ground, thankfully the animals are safe, but they need our help more than ever
If you are not able to contribute financially, I’d be very grateful if you would share this post by reblogging.
