MC tossed the phone aside. They couldn’t send their message. They were being silly. Nobody wanted to listen to them whine and moan. What right did they have? There were others with worse problems. They should just stay quiet and deal with it. It was all in their head any. Like why should they even be letting this bother them? They always made things worse by being depressing. People had commented on it in the past. They should try harder to be happy!
MC sighed and stared out the window. But…didn’t they have a right to get upset once in a while? They always tried to be positive and polite and listen. Why couldn’t someone listen to them? MC frowned and got up.
As the day progressed Mc felt like it just got worse. They avoided people when they could and tried to keep the frustration out of their voice as others continued to ask them questions and request their help. At one point they found a quiet spot and sat down, covering their face. “I’m not going to cry.”
“Why not?” Lucifer sat beside them causing them to squeal in surprise. MC stared at Lucifer. They glanced around. “Wait? Why are you here? It’s the human world!” MC tried to wipe the few tears out of their eyes in a nonchalant way, hoping he’d not notice.
Lucifer snorted and took MC’s chin in his hand, holding them still as he gently wiped a cloth over their eyes and cheeks.
“Yes. It is the human world. You do remember I can come anytime I wish?” MC blushed and mumbled in agreement.
“You weren’t answering your texts. My brothers are causing chaos because of it, so I came to investigate. Why didn’t you text us?”
MC hunched their shoulders. They looked down at the ground as their fingers clenched together. “I, I didn’t want to bother you with trivial things. I should be able to deal with things by myself. I shouldn’t bother others.” MC’s voice was quiet as they rambled and Lucifer sighed.
He stood up and held out his hand. “What a load of drivel. Who taught you that? You are master to the Lords of sin! Prove it! Get up. Come with me.”
MC stared in shock at Lucifer but took his hand. “What do you mean, prove it?” They frowned partially upset and partially confused. He was making fun of them, they just knew it.
“You have the avatars of Pride, Greed, Envy, Lust, Anger, Gluttony and Sloth at your beck and call and yet you hide in a garden? Why aren’t you shopping to overcome this? Or throwing a tantrum? Why aren’t you eating what you want and drinking? Why aren’t you standing proud and looking down on those who taught you to think you don’t deserve to be sad?” He glanced at them from the corner of his eye, as he gently lead them back towards the main road.
MC stumbled as his words slammed into them. They bit their lip to keep from saying their usual comment of “but I don’t deserve…” They blinked back suddenly tears. “But..” They stopped not sure what to say anymore. And gasped as Lucifer spun them into his arms, their hand coming up to rest on his chest. They stared at him. His one brow cocked in amusement, a sly smirk on his lips. “What do you want me to say MC? I am Lucifer. I won’t sugar coat my words. Be arrogant, be prideful. Demand what you want because you do deserve the same respect you give others.”
MC’s mouth gaped open and Lucifer took advantage, leaning down and capturing their mouth. MC moaned and wrapped their arms around his neck. Their mind in confusion as he kissed them. When he broke the kiss MC stood dazed. They shook their head trying to remember what was going on. His hand stroked the hair off their face and he kissed their forehead. MC laughed shakily. “You have an interesting way of cheering someone up.” They smiled hesitantly but couldn’t look him in the eyes out of embarrassment.
Lucifer chuckled and took their hand again. “Come. Let us head back home. The others are waiting. Be prepared for lectures and their form of caring.” He smirked as he looked down at MC who was avoiding his gaze. “I happen to know that a large number of boxes have been delivered and a large meal was being prepared when I left. You will not be allowed to escape.” His laughter at MC’s horrified gaze rang in the air causing passers by to stop in confusion as nobody was to be seen who was laughing so uproariously.
*I had a bad day yesterday. Wish somebody had been there to help me.*
