Bernie or Bust in a nutshell.
Alien (1979)
Dir. Ridley Scott
To all the “Bernie or Bust” folks
You are part of the problem now. I get that you are upset that your candidate didn’t get nominated, and that he seemingly sold out by endorsing Clinton, but the man had good reason, he was being responsible. He knows that he wasn’t going to get the nomination, and he knows that the party NEEDS to be united right now. Trump is literally the END OF FUCKING DAYS. If you had to save the world by falling on your sword, you’d be a selfish prick not to. He gets that Hillary needs to beat Trump in order to vanguard the ideals this country stands for. He knows that if he ran 3rd party, he would split the vote between him and Hillary, and Trump would win (That shit has literally happened within the last twenty years). We have to accept that Hillary is the candidate that ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO WIN at this point. We cannot afford a Trump presidency at this time in our Country. So, come election day, if you write in a candidate, vote 3rd party, or just don’t work, you are ACTIVELY AIDING in Trump being president. If you are okay with that, then congrats on your privilege and or ignorance blinding you. Hillary Clinton as president will not be as bad as you think, the damage Trump will do in the Oval Office is staggering. Please, be responsible, follow the lead of the man you admire and support Hillary, so much is riding on this, please don’t blow it. As Edmund Burke said, “ The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Bernie is doing something, will you?

This, this right here is exactly what is missing from Zack Snyder’s superman. This moment captures what is at the core of Superman. He’s more than a guy that inspires through strength of body, but through strength of character. Superman isn’t a distant figure, uncaring about the greater consequences of what he does. This is something that really needs to be understood by the people making the DC films
Yeah Snyder’s Superman only died to save the world. What a selfish prick.
You also seemed to miss how caring about the consequences of his actions was, you know, his entire fucking storyline.
Are we also forgetting that he made saving a little girl in a burning building an absolute priority?
Are we also forgetting that, despite ALL the shit that Lex put him through in the movie, when Doomsday was revealed and was about to swipe at Lex, Clark saved his ass and took Doomsday into orbit, away from the city?
Or how he protects the world despite what Martha said being true? “You don’t owe this world a thing”? He really doesn’t. He’s under no obligation to be this messiah figure that people have made him, he’s under no obligation to save people. But he does, even when he’s not happy being seen as a Christ figure.
Some people really do want the cat saving Superman dont they?
Hell yeah I do. Superman isn’t supposed to be dark and gritty. He can be complex without loosing the charm and humanity that makes him endearing. I don’t deny that he acted heroically in the film, but He also acted way too recklessly at times (throwing a guy through a rock wall for example). They made it work in the DCAU which was often very mature, so why can’t they make it work here?
I like to think that this is genuinely part of Daisy Ridley’s training regimen for Episode VIII
