posted on my spam but i wanted to ramble hehe ^_^
So for the past like week and i just have to write to get my thoughts, i've just been fascinated by the concept Theodicy, the concept in religion that if there is an all powerful, all benevolent, all GOOD god how could they allow evil to exist. I think it's a very, very tair question to have in a situation like that and i think the answers are even more fascinating. In christianity for example, it's almost completely avoided, satan is, he wasn't born with the universe he just is yk? and i think paradise lost for example is a fascinating take on that sort of idea of a heavenly body tainting itself, nothing can be as pure as god so of course an angel would fall at some point especially being consumed by pride. Then you have (what i believe partially started the gnostic movement) gnosticism which tries to answer all the questions that the bible just can't and its....trippy to say the least but very interesting. To summarize as fast as i can, the gnostic belief (very scattered, gnostic is a catch all term, im just generalizing) is that the universe and creation, humans, etc WAS made by a benevolent god but a bitter, vindictive god named yaldabaoth takes rule over the humans, keeping us blind, ignorant and sinful and jesus is the true son of the aforementioned benevolent god who pulls the wool from over our eyes and teach us that true christianity isn't just following doctrine, its learning the truth of everything, the universe itself. So it's this idea that evil will always creep its head around the corner at some point. Then some take it a lot more... philosophically, you know the greek gods, why would they care about puny human "labels" they're too powerful to be called "evil" they just are and they act.
I've been rambling too long save this for a PART 2!!!!
hai guys i’m back with another ramble ^-^
I know it’s been awhile and it’s because my interests jump wildly so just stick with me you know? Anyways i’ve been reading the book of enoch (wild jump from jttw i know..) and the concept of the “fallen angel” is so fascinating to me for a lot of different reasons. Don’t worry by the way, i’ll get around to paradise lost. Anyways though im fascinated and understand the reasoning behind something that is holy, still giving into earthly desires because…well quite frankly they aren’t god. What being outside of himself could reject those sort of earthly desires? Plus the obvious thing is you need SOME sort of supernatural beings ruling over hell so just say they’re fallen angels! I don’t know just that concept and execution and then just trying to get some fugging in is so so interesting.
Monkeeeeeeeeys
CHAPTER TEN OF JOURNEY TO THE WEST FINISHED!! what an..odd chapter?? not in a bad way, the second half definitely kept up my interest but the poem rap battle is just so out of the blue, not in a bad way i like those two!! i hope they do well with all their fishing and mountain-ing….Anyways though i went down a rabbit hole bc i couldn’t put my finger on which dragon king they were talking about that was involved in this chapter and as far as i can tell, it’s none of the five that were earlier in the story, i think its just a general dragon king?? Also I think the implementation of real world figures is fascinating, like obviously the bodhisattvas, buddhas, etc were already that but i think the idea of recent political figures being in a dramatized novel like that is so interesting, i believe it’s because Tang Taizong is the king who commissioned Xuanzang (Sangzang’s real world equivalent or just direct equivalent? the names change anyways) on his original pilgrimage ALSO HEY!! “CAMEO” FROM GUANYIN HI GUANYIN!! but yes im very intrigued where this will go bc id feel so bad too if i promised a dragon man that id save him and then my judge just beheads him
this is my book club and you guys are forced to see
just finished chapter 10 of journey to the west and i really, really like Sanzang :3 He’s just super nice and cares about his family and that’s a really nice change of pace?? I hope all the other characters like Wukong are doing good but i got invested in this family drama ALSO THANK YOU DRAGON KING!! I gotta say though, interesting just the changes in societal norms because what do you mean the mom “calmly committed suicide in her sleep,” LIKE THEN WHATS THE POINT OF ANY OF THAT but again…different time…

JTTW 1986 Sun Wukong art I whipped up for a buddy
Let me move to Flower Fruit Mountain, I won’t bother anyone! Okay no I’d ask wukong for an autograph but that’s it I swear!!
I’ve been reading Journey to the West and i want to live update each time I’ve read a chapter BUT i’ve already read the first eight so i’ll speed run. Good lord Wukong is so silly, i love that cheeky little ape and i love that a bulk of his army is gibbons, I LOVE GIBBONS!!! As much as i love him thought, i can’t lie, he does steal a lot of stuff he did lowkey deserve a slap on the wrist, it’s just unfortunate that it was the celestial court because they lowkey suck. It’s kind of insane how cool they made Buddha, like you’d expect it to be this shared respect and of course it is but it’s very, very respectful towards Buddhism which i imagine was still a blossoming religion in China at that point or at least not as big as Tao. The cloud Summersault is so cool man, i know everyone says it but i love all of his trinkets like, of course, The RyujiBang. I love the poems and i wasn’t expecting to but they ESPECIALLY compliment the fighting and makes it feel fluid like how i imagine it was intended to, everyone (mostly holy like Erlang) fights like whatever moving and I really enjoy it. It’s shocking to me some of the names Wukong took down but it’s also Wukong so i mean sorry Ne Zha. The little hand trick Buddha does is so fun too, i don’t know i knew i was gonna like this book but i really do love it :3
On this episode of “Woah! Zeus is kind of a prick!” I’ve been reading the play Prometheus bound and I gotta say, i guess i never even took into account that yeah, they don’t feed him, he’s just gotta sit there all day doing nothing until the eagle shows up. Peter…the Eagles here. Hephaestus is really sweet though! Kratos is really mean to him but yes you should feel bad chaining a guy to a mountain who, and let’s be honest, humans would’ve just gotten fire anyways, plus Hephaestus seems chill with it SO WHO CARES!!!
