Freddy hadn’t seen Charlotte La Buff since high school, the summer of his junior year to be exact. It was a night that he remembered vidily but also something he tried to forget about at the same time. Well, he was trying to forget now seeing as though he was trying to win Daphne back. It helped him sleep at night knowing that he’d never see the blonde before him. After their very brief romance they’d never cross paths again. He’d forget about her, as he did, and she would forget about him (he hoped) yet here he was knowing karma was truly biting him in the ass for many reasons.
Now Freddy wasn’t a complete heartless person, despite the fact he presented that way for so long. He did hold some guilt for how things turned out for the two. He felt bad for basically using her to get back at Daphne. He knew now his actions were awful and whatever Lottie felt for him, presumably negative, he deserved. He braced himself to have some sort of beverage thrown on him but he also knew Lottie wasn’t like that either. Although, Hot coffee to the face felt easier than this.
His nose scrunched in disgust at his full name being used. Frederick. He’d never forgive the mayor for giving the same exact name as him. “I guess they do.” he replied, a closed fist pressing against his lips as he let out an awkward cough. “So, uh how are you? I didn’t expect to see you here in Elias.”
“Oh, I’ve been here for a little while, actually,” Lottie replied, energy picking back up as she made an effort to push past the shock and awkwardness. “Make no mistake, I still adore New Orleans with my whole entire heart, but I ain’t above some exploration an’ I’d heard wonderful things about livin’ here, so I thought I might take a peak for myself,” she explained before taking a sip of her coffee through the straw. If sheer force of will couldn’t make things feel normal, then the sugar definitely would.
“I’m okay - a tad homesick, of course, but I’ve been havin’ fun. Been doin’ a whole heapin’ tonne of shoppin’ - there’s just so many new options. Not much interestin’, really,” she continued, repositioning her grip on her coffee in a not-so-subtle attempt to draw attention to the engagement ring on her finger. She wasn’t entirely sure why she wanted to bring the subject up - some combination of pettiness, childishness and general eagerness to talk about the fact she was engaged to a prince (the fact the prince was in love with her best friend notwithstanding).
“But what about you? How’ve you been? What brings you to this fine city?”
