who is erwin smith?
the year is 2009. the date: september 9th. a picture of a handsome, dashing man in his late thirties surfaces the face of the surface world.
who is this man? what is his name? why is his face cut in half? is it to symbolize that he is merely two-faced, with a secret identity hidden deep beneath his handsome features? what battle is he preparing for? at once, i thought my paranoia had gotten the better of me as i immediately thought "fontaine" as the answer to all my questions. my insides withered and both anger and fear seeped into my veins. but to state this man as fontaine would be ridiculous without any proof or fact or plausible evidence. would it?
i got to work, first sending my trained spider splicers to the upper world to take snappies of this man. they were also able to retrieve audio diaries of the man and better yet, his identity.
his name, i later found out, was erwin smith.

listening to his audio diaries, i could hear an accent which proves to be a new accent he adapted from his accent collection. boom motherfucker 2x
next, i got to work studying his face.
not to mention the similar looking jaw structure, the nose, the lips, and the stuck out ears. fontaine was also noted to have blonde hair before he went bald. another theory is that 'erwin smith' appears to be wearing a wig. bald = bald. boom motherfucker 3x
lastly, it came to my attention that 'erwin smith''s new objective on the surface world was to 'defeat titans and save humanity for the greater good blah blah blah sacrifices blah blah'. if you had already forgotten what atlas's main objective in rapture was, it was to gather the poor in rapture and rebel against andrew ryan. 'erwin smith' seems to be repeating his own actions he caused years ago when he was still under the name 'atlas'. titans = andrew ryan and his splicers titan war = rapture civil war battle of stohess district = 1958 new year's eve riots sacrificing anything for humanity = sacrificing his life and his true identity using eren jaeger as the key to humanity's freedom = using jack as the key to take over rapture
no one really knows what happened to atlas/fontaine in the very end. he could've died, but with no body found as evidence? all we know is that he simply disappeared. that's right, disappeared. disappeared to the surface world and take the name 'erwin smith' to gather his army of titans and come after me.
i'm onto you, fontaine, you handsome fuck.
