It’s a very lyrical song, it kinda does ride the line of musical theatre where it’s not just kinda this broad pop tune. It is very specific to not only Lea Michele’s character, but everyone’s character and the way they feel about their experience, not only on the show but outside the show, because it’s kinda about the actors saying goodbye to the show and it’s also about the fans saying goodbye to this experience of Glee… yeah, so it’s kinda this meta crossing line. But I have lots to say about it, I’m really proud about it and [Lea] really knocked it out of the park, so I hope it resonates with the fans.

Proudest moment: Darren Criss’ This Time, sung by Lea Michele in Friday’s series finale Having broken out as a writer of A Very Potter Musical, “all I wanted to do was write something for (Michele)” before the show ended, Criss says. “Whether or not it was on the show was a different story. So the fact that it did, it was such a special moment and such a big accomplishment, and she made it better than I ever could’ve imagined.” The emotional ballad is the last song Michele sings on the series, “so I wanted to write something theatrical but still pop enough to be in the world of Glee.”
