Why are you so concerned with how I eat my chocolate?

I’ll buy you new chocolate so stop eating melted ones.
Why are you so concerned with how I eat my chocolate?
Someone crazy for sugar.
True. But I still know how to separate work and pleasure.

“Well, it’d be bad if you got sick because of this…” Good point, there.
“Thank you for worrying. But I... have strong dessert ethics.” Yeah he just made that one up.
Okay, but please don’t touch the paperwork before washing your hands.
Yamato... What are you taking me for?
maturechildofjustice replied to your post : It was such a hot day today, Art’s emergency...
“…I REALLY hope you washed your hands before you did that…” Concerned Ken.
Mou~~ Everyone is so concerned with my eating habits.
Hands you a tissue????? Art stop.
Don’t worry, my hand are clean. I wouldn’t put them near my mouth otherwise.
It was such a hot day today, Art’s emergency chocolate bar went all melty and got stuck on its wrapper. Ugh. And when he tried to peel it free, he got chocolate all over his fingers.
Well no sense in wasting perfectly good chocolate. Don’t mind him as innocently licks them clean.
Leans against doorframe.
We don’t know what you’re talking about.
Sips tea.
You answer to the whip now. Good luck getting disciplined out there.
Best part of not working in TCDF anymore?
He doesn’t have to go through the hassle of trying to arrest Kudo for indecent exposure every couple days now.
I volunteer C-ta for that.
Also, Shinichi wasn’t offering the job back. You lost it forever, Art. Be glad and grateful. We love you.
“You sure are right about that! The Hotsuins have always been reliable to me.” Who wouldn’t rely on a takoyaki loving fuck and someone with a whip? They were a joy to keep around.
“I do want the box. I wish I brought you a souvenir too, but… yanno. I didn’t expect you to come back and I was sleeping. Thanks for the coffee.”
I don’t want the job back you fruit. I’m finally free. I wouldn’t even come near the building if everyone I knew weren’t affiliated with it.
I also don’t want the second thing. Save your loving for your sexy secretary.
“Go wash your face, Kudou-kun.” He threw the box right at Shinichi’s head. I hope it hits you with a corner and sends you back to sleep. “Do try and make it last longer than two days.”
“I was right in my office. You could have woken me up, you know? I’m not hard to find once you remove all the paperwork from my body.”
Oh right, he forgot, logic never existed in this universe! If it did, he would have walked over to any coffee machine he possessed and made his own coffee. Sure probed into that plot hole. How he missed messing with holes.
“Either way… welcome back. Kinda awkward, actually. I put Miyako Hotsuin in charge of your position while you were gone.” She actually did a better job at it too. Eh, details.
“I was rather enjoying the silence while it lasted.” In fact you can go right back to being buried right this instant before you break something. Or someone.
“Yes. I heard. I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day.” Might’ve been the only constructive decision I’ve seen you make there He sure as hel didn’t want the job back. Not even if you pulled a gun on him.
“Well it’s not like you can go wrong with Hotsuin’s to begin with.” Especially now they were a set of hot twins. “So, do you want the box or not? I only used the colombian beans.”
“Wait…” Eyes squinted as his nose picked up something.
“Where did you get that coffee?”
“I had an entire variety box set of beans as a souvenir for certain someone. But since he was too busy hibernating...”
Another sip of coffee for emphasis.
“I helped myself.”
A pause. Shinichi blinked at the other’s words before he turned to him.
“What are you doing here?”
“Well, isn’t that surprisingly uninformed of you as a self proclaimed meitantei, Kudou-kun. I’ve been here for a while.”
I jinxed it.

“Then that settles it.” Giving him a calm smile– there were plenty of things that bothered Naoto about the entire thing, however she also knew that by this point, it was just another case that people forgot existed, if they even knew about it in the first place.
“Here?” She was slightly surprised by the sudden question, but nonetheless, “Things here have been fine. I like to not think about what exactly Shinichi Kudou probably did in order to convince Hotsuin-san to take the job..”
She opted to keep quiet about the sudden change in Shinichi as well– he wasn’t around much which was the main reason why it’d been so peaceful as of late.
He couldn’t help but wince at the horrors Kudo must’ve put the poor girl through. Ah, to be young and innocent. And oblivious to the madness Kudou Shinichi could unleash. Art himself had been railroaded into the job... on their first meeting... when he had just arrived in the city... while he had amnesia following a rather nasty Sunday. It was only his sense of duty that kept him from quitting once he realized what he’d gotten himself into.
Oh, no. That line of thought was bad for his blood sugar.
“I hope she’s still... sane alright.” Art prayed silently. Then again, if work was slow, she must’ve been doing a good job. It was unlikely someone related to Yamato would be overwhelmed as easily as Art. “It’s eerie how silent Kudou-kun seems to be though. Feels like the calm before the storm.”

As Naoto expected, Art, as always, was carrying more burden than necessary or ever expected of him. Such a thing was what made him sometimes nearly insufferable to Naoto… Though people had told her she did the same sometimes.
Of course, none of those thought once showed on her face while she wordlessly listened to Art stumble through events, many of which Naoto had actually already known about from prior phone conversations with Art himself a while back… But there was no need to interrupt him just to point that out.
“I do not think there’s anything to be sorry for, Art. You did what you believed to be the most viable option at the time. Had you remained behind or taken a different path, would you be riddled with regret and self-doubt?”
Say anything about Naoto, she was a good listener. Had Art chosen to speak to anyone else in the matter, they might’ve been horrified to tears and apologizing for nothing. All he needed was to get it out of his chest without the pity and consolations.
“I know I would’ve made the same choice if I had to.” He nodded thoughtfully. Yamato, especially the way he was back then, direly needed a babysitter.
“But enough about me.” Art laced his fingers. He finally felt relaxed enough to face the detective again and this conversation needed a cheerier topic. “How has everyone been doing while I was away? From how calm everything seems, my replacement must be doing a good job. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the HQ this silent back then.”
The last half an hour of Hibiki’s shift went by fast. Back at headquarters he took no more time than he needed to get ready to go out again and soon he found himself making his way to the cafe he and Art were going to meet up.
It took no time at all to spot Art in the cafe thanks to the man himself. Waving, Hibiki walked up to the table Art was sitting at.
“I’m here at least.” Hibiki announced his presence, taking a seat opposite Art. “How long have you been waiting? I didn’t hurry, but I didn’t take my time either. I hope it hasn’t been too long.”
While Hibiki settled in his chair, Art signaled the waiter for the menu.
“Not at all. I’ve been reading.” He smiled and held up his book, cover read ‘Iphigenia’. “The weather is very nice. It’s a good day to spend outdoors.”
Art had been the epitome of a house cat lounging in the sun, surrounded by familiar comforts. Familiar company only made his quality time better.
The waiter passed on the menus as Art drained last of his tea. He wasn’t one for gossip but there was a lot to catch up on. “So, how has everyone been while I was gone.”
