I love when fan art of Shoot From The Hip characters look either;
A) Very similar to the actor
Or
B) Absolutely nothing like the actors.
Bonus points when a piece has two characters and one falls into each :>
REBLOG IF YOU'RE AN SFTH FAN!
We all keep joking the tumblr fandom would fit on a bus
would it tho???
i wanna keep headcount of all the pigeons!
Please reblog from only ONE of your blogs!
Let's GO!
SFTH musical when
okay okay wait 'pumpkin' is an absolutely adorable pet name for a fairy godmother to use, that's such a fun reference, i'm a big fan
i'm so jealous of how easily tom picks luke up. one day... i shall also carry my friends around like they're little sacks of friendship and love
Your honour I adore her and her semi-awareness of the fourth wall
Sir Leon (BBC Merlin 5x04)
Shoot from the hip is a great group of four men to discover because they have short names and they all look so Distinct
I'm gonna be controversial and say the tiktok odyssey fans spawned by epic the musical are freaking annoying. there is no single correct interpretation of the odyssey. there is no superior version. my odysseus is the one I read in a korean comic book seventeen years ago and I don't give a rat's ass about youtuber tiktok famous people who are physically attractive to those who love white-people-only christmas movies. I simply do not give a shit who is playing odysseus in the nolan movie. it's a fucking nolan movie. I hope it's a space opera and a starship explodes.
it's a good musical. it's also just one of countless retellings. do not define odysseus and penelope as the versions you heard in this one specific retelling.
i feel like there's a real issue on tumblr with people being unable to meet art where it's at. of course you can critique a piece of art/fiction and you definitely should, but if you walk into a shop where, let's say, they only sell kitchen appliances made out of wood. and you go in there because you heard that this shop is selling a new spatula and then you go into this shop owned by a woodworker who has historically only made kitchen appliances out of wood and it turns out, who would've thought, the spatula is made out of wood. you would seem like an insane person if you went and complained about the fact that it was made out of wood. like yeah man, the shop owner is a woodworker. that's what he does. and maybe his spatula has a different shape than you'd expect, because that shape is easier to carve out of wood. it's still a spatula though. and of course you can be scepticalabout somebody becoming a woodworker at all and you can criticise the type of wood chosen for the task or the personality of the woodworker and you can definitely criticise it if the woodworker hired a fucking zionist to help with the wood carving. you can and should definitely criticise and talk about those things, but like. don't criticise the spatula for being a wooden spatula in a shape that's pretty solid and makes sense for a wooden spatula to be. that's in no way shape or form productive. and you don't have to like the woden spatula! nobody says you have to like it! just criticise it for what it is, keeping those parameters in mind instead of judging it for what it is not. anyway, I thought christopher nolans the odyssey was a pretty good movie
okay they got me for one second
Thinking about the end of the Odyssey where Odysseus was fighting off 108 suitors and Telemachus was fighting one (1) untrained servant
I have so many thoughts about Nolan’s Odyssey
- The body horror of Circe transforming the men into pigs was beautifully disgusting
- I loved how the existence of the gods was never fully confirmed or denied. Were the storms Poseidon’s wrath or just bad weather? Was Athena appearing to Odysseus with the face of the woman he let die or was he hallucinating out of guilt? Magic clearly existed, because we had a cyclops and a witch and shades of the Underworld, but there’s magic and then there’s divinity. Is everything they say about the gods true or are they just an excuse?
- The removal of the Nobody scene was necessary actually. In the poem, Odysseus gives Polyphemus his real name in a moment of hubris and this causes all the problems later on because now Poseidon knows the name of the man that disrespected him. In the film, the problems are caused by the Greeks breaking Xenia by invading Troy. Keeping the Nobody scene would have detracted from the root cause of all the problems.
- I could write an entire essay about how cleverly Nolan uses events from the Odyssey to make a point about today’s society:
The Trojan War was about trade routes and Helen was just an excuse — just as wars today are waged for oil and resources, and governments give excuses to their citizens to make it seem better.
“The people from the sea” are feared as an invasion of bogeymen threatening innocents, but they’re actually just desperate men trying to find safety.
The Greeks pillage an island and ask “why didn’t you just give us what we wanted? We’re the good guys!” while the village burns behind them, not realising that to the villagers, Greeks and Trojans are all the same.
- Whoever let Anne Hathaway freeze her forehead should be fed to Polyphemus
- I hope Tom Holland escapes Marvel soon because he is a damn fine actor
being the only greek mythology enthusiast who doesn't hate the upcoming christopher nolan movie
Ok I'll give em this one (1) thing that's a good inspiration pull
