Hi!I'm Purple, but you can call me Lisa, or Purple if you prefer! I'm an art student and is still learning new things. And I am constantly tired/ Multiple Fandoms/ blog’s current state: Very random/ Asks are open, you can ask about me or my OCs Artblog: @purpleactuallydoarts
So I decided to make an art blog. Mostly because I reblog a lot of stuff here and I wanna sort out my arts (and shitposts)
I’ve reblogged some of my posts about OCs here there and will be posting arts there now. If you guys are interested then you can come over to @purpleactuallydoarts !
My name is Abdelmajed. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story like this, but life in Gaza has become unbearable. I am a survivor of the war here, and in the blink of an eye, everything I once knew—my home, my safety, my community—was ripped away from me.
The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Basic needs have become luxuries. Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.
I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.
Escape from Gaza is my only hope, but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.
I’m reaching out to you now, in the hopes that someone, anyone, can help. I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for a chance—just a chance—to live. A chance to escape this never-ending cycle of fear, destruction, and loss. A chance to rebuild my life somewhere safe, where I can begin again, where I can find hope once more.
My name is Abedmajed Elderawi, and I live in Gaza with what remains of my once large and loving family.
Any amount you can give will help me get closer to safety. Even the smallest donation will make a difference—it could be the lifeline I need to survive. If you are unable to donate, please share my story. The more people who hear it, the better the chance that I can find the support I desperately need.
Your kindness and support mean the world to me. You’re not just helping me escape a war; you’re giving me a chance to live, to rebuild, to breathe again.
First off, this is hilarious, but secondly, the artist’s name is Bill Flowers and he literally goes by The Snake Artist because he just does a bunch of paintings like this.
He’s also apparently a “venomous snake wrangler.” He’s Australian, which I feel explains a lot.
Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.
another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this
it's cool that more people are watching tokyo godfathers thanks to youtube, but that version has outdated subtitling (particularly regarding hana, a trans woman character). i recommend the 2020 gkids release, which has more accurate subtitles and a really good dub as well. i'm sure you can find this version on various movie/anime streaming sites (hi)—you'll know it's the newer release if it starts with the circular gkids logo. merry tokyo godfathers everyone
this is the most obvious example, where hana is misgendered by an audience member. the original english subtitling is inaccurate to the japanese audio and doesn't make any sense, whereas the updated subtitling makes it clear that she hates getting misgendered, but doesn't mind general insults.
this movie is really (really!) special and it's worth the extra step to seek out a version that's more true to the original japanese release.
The dub is especially good too; one of the best anime dubs I’ve heard! Everyone kills it as their characters, I seriously can’t pick a favorite performance. Most importantly, GKIDS hired Shakina Nayfack, a trans voice actress and activist, to play Hana, and she KILLS it.
