thank you so much, but it's not digital 😅 it's gouache
Tribute to my late grandma who was born in the year of the dragon. It’s my first Chinese New Year without her and I miss her so much.
When my parents divorced and essentially abandoned me for their new families, it was my grandma and grandpa who made sure I still felt loved. Without their care and guidance I probably wouldn't be here today.
Thank you, Grandma, for everything and more.
I hope everyone enjoys this little Crow Time update about the commonality of love! Even stars have travel buddies, that's what constellations are for.
If you like my work, do me a favor and donate a little to the PCRF to help children and families in Gaza. It's easy to do, kind to do, and do not feel guilty if you do not have much to give. Everything counts.
GET KOSA TRENDING.
STOP SCROLLING NOW!
AS OF FEBRUARY 21ST, 2024, WE GOT FIVE DAYS UNTIL THE DAY OF DECISION OF THE KOSA BILL, WHICH WILL CAUSE MASS CENSORSHIP ROUND THE INTERNET IF PASSED. WE NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS AND CONTRIBUTE. I'M NOT GIVING UP ON YOU ALL.
(IMPORTANT UPDATE: Kosa will not necessarily pass on the 26th. It only has the support to pass in Senate, and we STILL HAVE TIME. That being said, time is of the essence.)
WE'RE DOWN TO THE WIRE BUT WE CAN'T GIVE UP YET. IF WE GIVE UP, EVERYTHING IS OVER. IF WE DON'T, AT LEAST WE HAVE A CHANCE.
I'M THE ONE WHO SOUNDED THE ALARM, AND I'M NOT GOING TO CURL UP AND DIE YET.
Reblog this post in every LEGAL way you can under the Tumblr guidelines with the appropriate tags. TELL AND TAG EVERYONE YOU KNOW, then add the tags to see below... and more if you can think of any complying.
Visit badinternetbills.com if you want to find a way to defeat KOSA. It WILL NOT take much of your time. Reblog with any other information or sources, too-- but make sure to reblog if you can.

Reblog if you're going to repost this on other sites than Tumblr and spread the word across Twitter, Tik Tok, Pinterest, or elsewhere, alongside the link to badinternetbills.com.
Reblog if you think KOSA is unfair and shouldn't be anyone's problem -- including the adults ALL OVER THE DAMN EARTH forced to face the mass censorship it causes because "think of the American Children!".
Reblog if you support internet activism and Palestine.
Reblog if you hate fascism or censorship, and don't want actually serious and helpful conversations censored on the internet.
Reblog if you value the internet in any way at all whatsoever.
CHECK THIS PETITION, TOO! https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-kosa?recruiter=1331807538&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=sms&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=psf&recruited_by_id=57368c40-d0fd-11ee-98f7-2175430f819f&share_bandit_exp=initial-36809664-en-US
(Also, please reblog with at least "stop kosa" as a tag and not "kosa". I made the mistake of not adding just "kosa" as a tag...)
We won't let this stand any longer. Let's start a riot and get this trending.

happy black history month
my advice to you is to never waste your time trying to fit into a club or hobby or any community who makes you beg for acceptance and approval just to participate when you could do the alternative—get involved in a niche and endangered hobby run primarily by old people.
i wanted to learn how to hunt ruffed grouse and train bird dogs so i sent an email to my local chapter of the ruffed grouse society explaining that getting into wildlife groups is intimidating to me because I’m trans
and all they saw was that someone under 60 wanted to learn to hunt grouse & several months into my mentorship I was told that like 7 old guys argued over me until they had to pick a number between 1 and 100 to decide who got to personally mentor me.
imagine vying for the acceptance of some gatekeeping weirdos when your mere interest could be inciting verbal combat among retirees
my mentor was so sweet & funny too. he suggested we meet over lunch first so he could tell me about what to expect before we got started & I emailed back “I’m ready to get started right away!”
and he said “I was actually suggesting lunch first for your comfort on the assumption you wouldn’t want to get together with a man you’ve never met, in the woods with a gun.”
Like, I trusted him because of the referrals I got from one of my professors but like, right you are sir fair enough. Lunch it is.
love the sailing boat discourse and all but i have to say being on a ship for a prolonged time does change a man and i don't mean in a hardened but wisened sailor kind of way i mean that everytime my brother returns from sea after a few months he has to be reintroduced into society like some sort of feral beast. being on a boat might not give you scurvy but it WILL erode your impulse control and ability to react normally to any situation whatsoever. that's just what months of hard work and inability to leave while the ground moves does to a mf
[ID: Anonymous asked: can you PLEASE elaborate on how coming back from sea makes you feral //end ID]
i have to stress that my brother is usually a calm and collected individual who makes a joke too loudly drunk sometimes but otherwise is pretty unassuming. however, he did his apprenticeship as a ship mechanic during covid, and was genuinely trapped in a container ship’s engine room for six consecutive months. in the first week of coming back, my brother has:
- taken a beer i calmly handed him, slammed it back in one go, and thrown the bottle as far as he could before i could even react
- in general consumed all food with the ferocity and disregard for social custom of a street dog to the dismay of my mother
- responded to a poor mcdonalds worker in a customer service voice said “sorry, busy day today” with “how is that my problem” (i tipped them very well and apologized profusely)
- overall reacted to people making polite conversation with a challenging and provocative tone misplaced in. a fucking grocery store
- developed a habit of random manic laughter, especially while doing things like driving, going on walks or other main land activities
- climbed a wall, a fence, and a silo on three seperate occassions without any warning or announcement
- RIPPED a fucking street post out of the ground and ran home with it.
again, he mostly returns to normal after you rehabilitate him (mostly by taking him shopping and to bars) but its fucking fascinating to witness someone forget about the social contract. and it has been better since they have been allowed to leave the ships in harbour again. but god damn.
I'm late to the paleontology drama but my god this is so funny

I am American and I have never seen photos like this. I had no idea there are borders like this. Even though I LOVE the idea of open borders, I am staring at these pictures like “wait…people can just…walk across some stones or grass and BE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY??? and nobody stops them?? how does that WORK?!” So you can tell that my country’s propaganda has gotten to me by convincing me that this CAN’T work even though…it…obviously can. These pics just seem unreal to me. I’ve been taught my whole life that this can’t exist. In 27 years no one has ever sat me down and gone, look, here’s how it is elsewhere. It isn’t impossible at all.
I want to add something, but I’d just be restating what they said. I.. didn’t know peace and kindness like this was possible.
All of the above, and …
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to Belgium, apparently.
This also leads to some funny images like: GuEsS wHeRe ThE bOrDeR Is XD
this is real, but it also gets at why hopeful stories are so important - its real hard to make a better world if you cant even imagine it existing
I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”
Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.
You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.
I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking “Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!”
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Eleven years old. Still true.
I used to manage an escape room and the best thing I ever saw was in our Jigsaw room. They start that one handcuffed or footcuffed to separate bits of wall, and they had to tie some lab coats together to lasso a wheeled trolley across the room as their first puzzle.
One day I had a couple come in. When I initially asked who wanted the foot cuff Vs the handcuff, she insists that he gets handcuffed. I chain them up, give them their starter hint that the trolley will be immediately important, leave and go to the office.
Whereupon I watch as the woman turns to the man and says "Gareth, give me your leg."
Gareth bends down, removes his prosthetic leg, and throws it over to her. She drops onto her stomach as far forward as the footcuff allows, grabs her boyfriend's detached foot, and uses it to fish the trolley over.
Greatest solution to that puzzle I ever saw
the thing about lotr that the movies don’t convey so fully is how the story is set in an age heavily overshadowed by all the ages before. they’re constantly traveling through ruins, discussing the glory of days gone by, the empires of men are much diminished, the elves (especially galadriel) are described as seeming incongruent, frozen in time….some of the imagery is even near-apocalyptic, like the ruins of moria and of course the landscape surrounding mordor
this is a strange thought to me, somehow: that the archetypal “high fantasy” story is set at the point where the…fantasy…used to be much higher? this is not the golden age; this is a remnant
LotR is Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome of the elves.
i want to emphasize that people have added excerpts of their theses in reply to this post but this is still my favorite reblog
fathers casually dropping the craziest lore of their lives in the middle of a conversation
My brother and I trying to piece together our dad’s life based on random info he casually brings up once and then never mentions again
When my great grandpa was on his deathbed my grandpa (his son) was with him and says his last words were “I told them they shouldn’t have hanged that woman. Well by damn they’re paying now” and no one in my family knows what the fuck that means
My grandmother was harassing me about the dangers of online dating, and my grandpa was like, “Oh fer crying out loud, leave her alone. My parents met online, she’ll be fine.” Apparenly my great grandparents were both telegraph operators who would chat over the line in between messages and fell in love and my great grandma moved halfway across the country to marry a dude she met over the telegraph.
No one alive in the family had ever heard this story until like 70+ years later when I happened to start seeing a dude from OK Cupid.
We were driving through Old Country once and my grandpa Sasha randomly went “oh this is where we blew up that bridge as kids, I guess it got rebuilt”
