some notes on the itachi vs. sasuke fight i just finished (re)watching
itachi keeps saying shit like "reality is whatever we want it to be..." which is ofc reflective of how he's a really adept genjutsu user and thus reliant on the power of illusions. but while there is some truth in that statement we all know that the reason he's saying it is because he's the world champion of mental gymnastics and has been for the past sixteen years. like yeah i'm sure you believe that you stupid bitch
if i had a nickel for every time an older dark-haired figure in sasuke's life acted as if they wanted to steal his body/parts of his body for their own power i'd have two nickels but its weird and honestly really fucked up that it happened twice!
really awesome how itachi lied about madara trying to kill his little brother to gain power instead of the truth where madara went crazy because he loved his litle brother so much that he couldn't cope when he was killed. kinda like how itachi is lying about hurting sasuke because he wants to steal his eyes when he's actually hurting sasuke because he believes (wrongly, but he does truly believe it) that this is what's best for him. i feel really normal about that just btw
i love how black and white zetsu are narrating this fight like sports announcers. it's funny ngl but on a practical level its def better than itachi and sasuke narrating what they're doing as they're doing it, which is how certain pieces of crucial information would be conveyed otherwise.
sasuke hearing orochimaru's voice in his head and immeidately wrapping his arms around himself and falling to his knees and curling up in a ball. lets all kill ourselves actually!

kishimoto was fucking insaaaaane for that last scene. itachi reaching for sasuke like he was going to tear his eyes out and then making that gesture that symbolizes how he loves sasuke but will always keep him at arms length. and then just fucking falling over and dying right there. fuckkkk
