Day 4 -Zip lining and our trek to Aguas Caliente Our group split into two and the four of us spent the morning zip lining in the Andes and ended it walking across a suspension bridge - which is a lot harder than it looks. Whilst we were busy doing that the other 3 began their trek to Aguas Caliente with our tour guide. Zip lining was so much fun, a little scary but we did it! Brandon stated that from now on he will start saying no to things that I suggest.....(see Part 1 video to putting him on the superman zip line ) Our walk began from the hydroelectric train station, where we took a bus from Santa Teresa town (about 20 mins). The walk TOOK FOREVER but thankfully it was on flat ground. We arrived around 3pm and headed straight for a much needed hot shower! Then headed out for some nachos and a beer treat. Dinner was with the tour but everyone was almost too tired to eat so were in bed by 8pm. Alarm set for 3.45am, ready for the big and final day to Mach Picchu. Goooooood night

Day 3 - Jungle Trek

The morning started off a little bit chilly (at 7am) but after walking for about an hour, the sun came out and it ended up being a nice sunny day. We were both still very tired not only physically but also because we haven’t had more than 3 hours sleep each night. By about 10am Brandon was on the brink of giving up- but he thankfully he didn’t and we made it to lunch stop ….. And most importantly THE END OF THE DAYS HIKE around 1pm.

We got a bus that drove us to Santa Teresa where we set up camp for the night. We arrived there around 4pm and caught the bus that took us to the hot springs. They were incredible, and almost surreal to be in hot springs so high up, and in between mountains. Perfect end to our 3 days of hiking!

Well it took a while to work out but this is our #SalkantayTrek to Machu Picchu detailed by KM, altitude and timing. Day 4 was split into two as we went zip lining (kinda breaks it up from all the hiking)! Day 2 - Salkantay Pass.

One of the hardest days of the trek, starting at 5am and finishing off in the second camp site at 5pm. From 3600m to Chawllay Campsite at 2800m.

The morning up to the Salkantay Pass was extremely hard due to the cold weather, the steepness of the mountains and of course the altitude too. You’d think that the easy part would be going back down - however this was not the case. The steepness of the mountains created a lot of pain for most of the group in their knees, ankles and of course muscles in their bum. Overall today was the furthest amount of miles walked, over a solid stretch of 11 hours walking.
