What if Heinrich Harlander had not met Victor Frankenstein and had instead met Dr. Godwin Baxter?
Dr. Godwin Baxter, an experimental creator, and Victor Frankenstein meet at a scientific congress in London. They are both drawn to the similarity in their research on life and death. Godwin is fascinated by Victor's experiments to reanimate dead tissue, while Victor admires Godwin's ability to create life from nothing.
They decide to join forces and establish a joint laboratory in Switzerland, where they can combine their knowledge and resources. Their main goal is to find a way to "tame death," that is, to prolong life and reverse the aging process.
In the midst of their research, Victor conceives the idea of creating an artificial human being, using parts of corpses and applying Godwin's knowledge of creating life. Godwin, although initially skeptical, is intrigued by the possibility of applying his techniques to a project of such magnitude.
Together, they create Adam Frankenstein, a creature composed of parts of different bodies and animated by a combination of electricity and Godwin's methods. Not long after, on a stormy night, while walking along the banks of the Thames, Godwin discovers a body floating in the water. It is a young woman, visibly pregnant, who has taken her own life by throwing herself into the river. Godwin, driven by a mixture of scientific curiosity and compassion, decides to take the body to his laboratory, and with Victor's help, they put the living brain of the baby she had inside into her head, bringing her to life.
