i like this moment because he’s right, this isn’t like yuugi

not to call out anyone on here who likes to depict yuugi as shy and quiet but he was only like that before he had a regular group of friends. Someone who knows yuugi on a deeper level would be able to pick on when something’s wrong, cause at this point he’s confident and outspoken, especially when it comes to his friends.

He’s able to fight when his head’s clear, but the stress from wanting to protect Anzu was starting to get to him. It doesnt help matters that his opponent has been constantly picking at his biggest insecurity:

being seen as the weaker ‘yuugi’

not being good enough

Atem understands perfectly, that’s why he doesn’t push it or make Yuugi say it outright. He already knows this was a hard moment for him
