i love sports. i love community. i love seeing the heights of human capability. i love comebacks. i love underdogs. i love the testament to dedication and the human spirit
mclaren lewis! a baby!

seb should come back to f1 under the name sebastian sprater and just pretend he's a rookie

pascal oh pascal. so well deserved. the youngest ever dtm champion. done so dirty in f1. spent a while settling into fe but porsche took a chance on him and made him their man. it slipped away from him last year. he would not let it slip away again. so many people doubted him but PASCAL WEHRLEIN YOU ARE A WORLD CHAMPION‼️‼️🏆🏆🍾🍾🥰🥰
no because. the schumacher surname makes you motorsports royalty and whether you like him or not everyone knows who ralf is and he came out, and it's so so important. because this is a sport that loves surface level activism but won't go any deeper and now we have a SCHUMACHER who is out and proud and in your face. and no one can deny it. someone who raced on the grid, who knows exactly how hard it is. and you have to applaud the bravery regardless of what you think of him. and i hope that if there's anyone else on the grid, in the sport, who is also queer, that they see this, and they know they're not alone.
oh hey this post blew up! so. while the above holds true, it is also important to note that ralf schumacher is not actually a good person. it does not erase that his coming out is definitely going to have an impact on the sport, and hopefully get some important conversations going. his coming out also does not erase that he's a bigoted piece of shit.
if you want to know more about queer drivers in motorsports:
lella lombardi: the only female driver to ever score points in f1. she drove in 17 grands prix. her presence in f1 was trailblazing for women and made the sport more accessible to them. she was also a lesbian in an openly gay relationship with another woman.
mike beuttler: often described as the first openly gay f1 driver.
roberta cowell: she was a racing driver and also the first british trans woman to undergo gender affirming surgery.
you can read more about the three of them here.
i understand the need to upload ralf schumacher as some kind of queer hero in the current era of motorsports. it's sad that we only have three examples other than him. but that does not mean he is free from accountability, or that his disgusting views on black people, women, etc. should be ignored. please keep that in mind when talking about him. also note that he is very much protected by his surname and the fact of being michael schumacher's brother. he has privilege that many, many queer people do not, and that includes possibly queer younger drivers. that privilege has to be an important part of any conversation about him.
mark: what do i feed it….?
#is it mean that i thought about mark kicking him away like a football?#like mark shakes him off and while hes falling kicks at him and hits him at that perfect point#and all mark hears is *weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* as seb flies like 200m#and hes like *fuck did i hurt it* but then it comes back barreling into his legs and wants to go again
Alex Jacques and David Croft's commentary moved me so much i made a poster.
