I just don’t understand the need to take media that is very specifically about the ways that women are mistreated and abused to the point where they are driven to horrific actions and, specifically, suicide and make it about family. I don’t get it. Family is one of the big ways women are abused.

#either he’s just using these stories as a basis because he can’t write for shit on his own merits #or he uses them just as a way to gain attention #and either way it is oissing me off

And no I don’t necessarily think that adaptations have to follow the original story 1:1 but I just think that if Mike Flanagan wants to write stories about family and grief then he should make an original fucking show and not trample all over books that have preexisting themes and messages that I would even argue are in direct conflict with what he clearly wants to talk about. JUST WRITE SOMETHING NEW MAN PLEASE
