Sparks of Fire & Magic
Great… it might be closed. Though slightly more worrying… Chemist? Normally someone using another word to describe the same thing wouldn’t bother him. And still it didn’t bother him… it worried him. That one word had him worried he hadn’t ended up where he’d been aiming… which was a whole other set of problems. If he wasn’t in the country he thought he was in- he shook his head. One problem at a time. “Regardless- I need supplies.” He moved his hand from just holding his side, to wrapping his arms around his middle.
He frowned and backed up a step as she walked towards him with a demanding nature. He didn’t have the energy to try and portal out of there again at the present moment, and quite frankly was fairly certain she’d catch him were he to try and run. The cloak of Levitation shifted on his shoulders, lifting him slightly off the ground, the action putting his mind to ease.
“Yes” He said slowly. “I have studied Eldritch-” He stopped himself and shook his head. “You seem to be taking this- this all rather well…” Normally he was used to people yelling in surprise or horror, and asking ‘what was that’. But she was very specific to call it magic. As if there was little hesitation in her mind that it was magic. He looked her up and down, trying to find something he could figure out about the you woman. “Have you seen someone… use Magic before?”
The only change in her expression was the slight widening of the eyes as he hovered. Wow. But that lasted only a moment, before his suspicion took over her mind. All she did was hesitate, the same expression lingering on her face for just a moment before she shook her head. “No... No I haven’t.” Technically, it was the truth. She couldn’t necessarily say that she saw herself use magic. In fact, it would be more appropriate to say that she was actively avoiding seeing herself use magic. But that was another story. She suddenly shifted, raising her hands a little as she moved forward. She wasn’t going to let this man get away, no way. Because if nothing else, he could find out what was wrong with her. And he could help. He could fix it. But that wasn’t before she helped him.
"Let me help you. They know me there, step-mum needs meds all the time. I think they’d take me more seriously than some levitating stranger.” She gave him a careful look, accompanied by a faint smile. “Come on. Before it actually closes and you’re left with a trip to A&E.”
Sparks of Fire & Magic
The sun was just starting to set on a rather empty street where a Portal sparked to life. Strange quickly stumbled through the portal and waved it shut behind him, cutting off the angry cries of a monster that had almost gotten the best of him. He stumbled to the ground, breathing heavy as his eyes focused on the spot where he’d just stumbled through.
“By the Vishanti that was a close call.” He let out a breath and looked around him to see where he was and his eyes landed on the young woman not a yard from where he was sitting. “Ah-” He made a face as he realized the likelihood that she hadn’t just seen him stumble through a portal, was slim to none. He groaned but got to his feet, dusting himself off.
“Hello- my name… is Dr. Stephen Strange.” He wavered a moment and frowned, pressing a hand to his side as he felt a stab of pain coming from there. “I promise you- you have no reason to be afraid-” The stab happened again and he grimaced. “My apologies, I could use the nearest drug store if you’d be so kind to point the way?”

Shocked? More likely than you think. Sal slowly pulled the door to a close as she stepped back, shifting her keys into her other hand as she stared at the scene before her. There was no one else around. Was she seeing things? Probably. Was she scared? Not enough to run inside. Was she curious? Most definitely. The man seemed to be in rough shape, so despite the uneasiness that she held in her heart, she moved towards him a bit, as if to get a closer look. And that was when he saw her.
The introduction and the reassurance that she didn’t need to be afraid put her a little at ease, but it made her curiousity grow. Maybe because, while she knew that there were flying suits & 100+ year old men walking the Earth (The Avengers), she had never really seen anything like it in her life. Also perhaps, because that seemed like fire, the portal. He looked like (she wasn’t going to lie), a real life wizard, and if that was correct, it may be JUST what she needed.
He was also American. Right.
“Sal. There’s a chemist around the corner. I---- don’t know if it’s still open?” There was a small pause in the air around her, and then as if a click went off in her head, she moved closer, a small demanding nature behind her steps. “How did you-- do that? Magic? Was that magic?”

"Sorry. I’m your new neighbour. I couldn’t help but notice the noise-- Could you keep it down a little?”

Starting a forest fire was not something she had intended when she got up this morning. As the delivery - that was certainly not going to get delivered - fired up, she dropped it in a panick, backing away as fast as she could. With her hands up and her eyes wide, she couldn’t help but stare at the flames as they grew, and grew, and grew, resulting in nothing less than her worst nightmare. Did no one mention? She was afraid of fire.
Her fear was only paralysed more by the presence of someone; she could practicaly sense them watching. She turned around to try and find them, with the panicked words already spilling out of her mouth-
“Do-do you have a fire extinguisher or somethin’?”
“Uh - Uh,” Seth freezes, but only for a split second, “Give me one second I might have one in the truck. That - That’s not going to explode is it?” He figures that’s a stupid thing to ask as soon as he says it, so he books it the thirty yards between where they stood and where he had parked - for once he came out here in an actual vehicle, weirdly enough - and digs a mini emergency extinguisher out from beneath the passenger seat (he’ll have to thank Billy for that later). He’s back in seconds, wielding the little red can like the godsend it is, but it’s only when he glances between the stranger and the flames that he realizes; “Uh, I have absolutely no idea how to turn this on.”
“It’s not going to explode--!!” She almost yelled as soon as he asked, looking over towards the stranger before returning her gaze upon the fire, that was growing fast. Backing up against one of the trees, she awaited, terrified, until the man returned. And with his blatant cluelessness, she could feel her heart shrivel up into a small ball, squeezing and wrapping around her insides until she could barely breathe. This was terrifying.
“J-just mess with it. Just do something. Get it to work already!”

"Hi, sorry. I heard you father was the Sheriff around town. I just moved here from the UK -- can I just ask where the police station is?” She had step-siblings to look after, ones that she had just taken away from the abusive household they had been living in - and now, despite her current problems - she needed to make the most of her situation. This place was one of the least known towns in America. There was no way her father & their mother would find them there.
She had spent most of her money moving. And now - “I’m lookin’ for a job. Filing, receptionist, anythin’. Do y’know if there’s one going at all?”

“I have a reasonable explanation for this -- I swear.” An anxiety attack while unintentionally allowing smoke to manifest around you was practically a death sentence. At least, in her mind. The mind that wouldn’t quite stop. “Y-y’don’t need to call anyone, ‘specially not 999. It’s okay-I’m okay.” She waved her hand in the general direction of the stranger while lowering herself a little more to the ground.
...I’m afraid of fire.
