[ID: An excerpt from a Q&A regarding the crow boy/plastic dress girl book. Question: Is there a love triangle / will someone fight crow powers for my attention? Answer: No love triangle but there is a bromance gone wrong, and emotionally constipated crow boys brooding and being butt heads]

Making a little pinned post for goyim who stumble across this blog. Nothing in your background, none of your experiences with marginalization, nothing at all makes you exempt from having unconsciously incorporated antisemitism into your world view and mindset. The best thing you can do is seek out a wide range of all jewish voices with no preconceived notions, hear how different things affect their lives and oppression, and take that into account about what you say and do.
Next thing to address. Antisemitism from the left DOES exist and it IS in your movements for palestinian liberation, as ugly a truth as that is. I support a free palestine and an end to genocide. So, when I showed up to my first protest and saw a displayed swastika with hundreds of people around, I was extremely dismayed that not a single one was willing to stand up and say a goddamned thing. This is the state of antisemitism on the left. Most people won’t *openly* spout hateful rhetoric, tho those who will are quite loud.
The real problem is that there is no collective willingness to go after the open antisemites in these movements. It’s deemed acceptable because it’s for a good cause. And let me tell you, this shit is quite typical. We jews see it constantly. Just because you aren’t seeing antisemitism, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Of course you aren’t seeing it. You’re not jewish. You don’t have the background to notice shit that you’ve been taught is normal and fine. Yet, your silence in the face of these things or even your engagement in them still hurts us. And. You know what they say. If nazi joins 4 people at a table and they do nothing about it you have 5 nazis.
So. What can you do? Seek out jewish voices and LEARN!! Don’t tokenize us. Don’t choose ones you already agree with. The first resource I recommend for dealing w antisemitism in leftist spaces is called “The Past Didn’t Go Anywhere” by April Rosenblum. This is a jew with a long history of palestinian advocacy and she has done a great job at breaking down where antisemitism happens and its effects on the global jewish community. Link for it at the bottom. It was written in 2007 and remains depressingly relevant today. This pamphlet is 24 pages, a bit long, but very thorough.
It should he noted, however, that this pamphlet is the barebones details of what’s antisemitic btw. The things listed in there are basic, “Nearly every jew in the world would agree this is antisemitic,” type of things. There is far more to antisemitism than just what’s contained in that zine. Your best resource for further learning about what we jews face is to make an effort to actually listen to jewish voices. No tokenizing. No dismissing. Just listening and seeing what makes sense.
That said, this zine is essential reading, because it gives you the tools to start making your spaces safe for jews to be in. And, if you do that, hopefully you’ll find more jews who trust you enough to tell you when things are antisemitic. If that’s something you don’t care to do, well, you probably don’t belong on this blog anyways.
EDIT: In an ideal world, I would like a binational one-state solution with a right of return for jews and palestinians as well as massive reparations for palestinians. I do NOT identify as a zionist. And. I also know jews who identify as zionists who want the exact same things I do. If your rhetoric is calling for violence against those people you can fuck right off.
Zionist is a jewish word that has been appropriated and twisted by non-jews for over 50 years. Sometimes this is done by christian “zionists,” who have taken that word because it convinces others that they care about us. They do not and we jews know they do not. Sometimes others who lie about what it means to jews and use it to discredit jews who want to live peacefully with palestinians in our shared homeland.
Zionism is an extremely pluralistic political philosophy, and you have likely been lied to about the scope of what it means. While there are some zionists who have taken that ideology to the extreme of ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and genocide of palestinians, that is not the majority usage. The term for the subset of zionists who DO subscribe to that is “kahanist” or “racist piece of shit”. Most jews who use the term zionist to describe themselves are fighting for a peaceful and equitable solution to this conflict in which we live side by side with palestinians in some form or another.
So. Why do I bring this up? To ask you to stop misusing our fucking word. This word has been used to disguise calls for violence against our community. The reason you see right-wingers who are “Anti-zionist” is not because they care about palestinians, but because they hate jews and understand that fear-mongering about zionism is a powerful way to stoke antisemitisc sentiment and stochastic terrorism against our communities. If you repeat their rhetoric, even with good intensions, even in leftist spaces, you still spread these ideas. And your spreading of these ideas, regardless of intent, actively endangers diaspora jews.
Yes. Israel has committed so many fucking war crimes and is currently committing genocide. I am firmly against it, and will not stop fighting until the palestinian people are free. All of what I’ve said above is as a jew who is deeply critical of zionism as an ideology and who believes there are irreparable flaws in the worldview which zionism is based on. And, still, with all I said above, I want you to know that there ARE ways as a non-jew that you can be antizionist and not antisemitic. BUT!!!! If ANYTHING of what I’ve said above is news to you, you do not presently know enough to do this successfully.
Jewish zionism, whether you agree with it or not, is a proposed answer to jewish oppression. To disagree with this answer, you need to subscribe to a different one. That means engaging with jewish political theory in a meaningful way, and actually working with our communities to fight for their safety in the diaspora. Otherwise it is clear that your issue isn’t a disagreement with this proposed answer for jewish safety, but instead an issue with jews being safe. You can fight for palestinians without being antisemitic. In fact, YOU SHOULD BE FIGHTING FOR PALESTINIANS PERIOD! I’m just asking you to be mindful to avoid putting jewish lives endanger as you do so. And if that’s not motivation enough, consider that this mindfulness helps your advocacy for palestinians as well, because you’ll help to insulate the movement against accusations of antisemitism. Those accusations will exist regardless, as we all know, but making them actually false will help strengthen our cause to those who would follow us, but are wary because of the hate they’ve seen. Those people are greater in number than you realize.

Jewish Theory and Antisemitism Education Resources Post
Okay. It’s no secret about how disappointed I’ve been about the unwillingness others seem to have to learn about jewish issues and fight for jewish liberation. So, I’m compiling a list of valuable resources on the topic. I won’t personally agree with everything every resource says, but I will be including various conflicting opinions which I think are valuable to hear from and learn. Things which can give better understanding to outsiders about what we face and can tell them how to better advocate on our behalf. As this grows I may add sections and categories for types resources but for now it’s just a list. Will edit to add more over time. Those interested can submit resources they feel will be helpful in my asks, and I’ll read and consider them when I get time. List under the cut.
(You can find my old pinned post about the antisemitism within the pro-palestine movement here, if anyone is looking for it.)
Come listen to my and my best friend's new Project Hail Mary song!
I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS IT’S SO GOOD
I am DEMANDING to see the fanart!!! :0
Why am I so ass at writing lyrics... I just wanna make songs mannn
I hate to say it, but practice is what makes things work. Try making some imperfect things and you'll get closer to the vision you have!
Saw something about people getting frustrated when they’re criticizing Israel but keep finding themselves around nazis so lemme give some pointers as an anti-zionist Jew. If the language you are using to address Israel sounds so much like white nationalist rhetoric that you keep finding yourself in company with or shown content from white nationalists, the issue is that you’re already talking like them. The issue is that you are cool w their language. It’s not hard to criticize Israel’s genocide without sounding like a white nationalist, I do it all the damn time. If this keeps happening to you it’s a skill issue and you need to address your unconscious anti-Jewish bias and educate yourself on anti-Jewish dogwhistles. The reason this keeps happening to you is your own internalized bigoted ideas about the place of Jews in the world affecting your perspectives and speech. It’s quite easy to avoid, actually, if you just engage even slightly with resources to educate yourself on Jewish oppression. If this keeps happening to you it’s because of the language you choose, the people you follow, and the company you choose to keep. If you wanna learn more you can start here.
