This Could Destroy The Reptile Hobby

Please take the time to educate yourself about about this very real threat to the reptile hobby and consider contacting your State Senator.

Hey friends, so, I’m not generally one to send you off to email senators in a tizzy. But if you are at all interested in exotic pets, this is a *pretty big* potential threat to the community that is getting absolutely no coverage right now.

The amendments to the Lacey Act would, essentially, make it illegal to transport *any* exotic pet across state lines for any reason- including if they are a pet and you are moving. An unspecified “white list” will exist, rather than any kind of “black list” ( a black list would absolutely make sense. Many exotic animals should be regulated better, especially particularly dangerous or invasive ones.) A whitelist however would effect so so so many more species, with no evidence that this would actually achieve the stated goal of the act at all (to limit the spread of potentially invasive species.)

I honestly have no idea how this would impact *zoos* and animal rehabilitation centers, but as it is worded right now, it could crumble the reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate owner communities. (Also AQUARIUMS. This applies to FISH too.)

Again, I’m a strong advocate for better regulation in the exotic pet hobby. Randos shouldn’t be keeping tigers and king cobras and crocodiles in their backyards. Proven invasive species, like green iguanas and lion fish, need to be better regulated. Wild caught imports should be curbed as much as possible. But this kind of slap-dash ban is going to impact a lot of people and a lot of animals for no benefit.

This is bad news for zoos and aquariums as well. All of the butterflies at the facility I work at are imported, as are some coral species that we are actively propagating. This could have huge repurcussions for any sort of conservation organization

You can’t deserve a person’s love. You’ll drive yourself crazy thinking like that. They either love you, or they don’t. That doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough for them to love you, because love isn’t something you earn by being good enough. It isn’t something that can be quantified or doled out. Don’t blame yourself for not being loved how you need to, just teach yourself how to look for love where love lives.

This isn’t just about romantic love, or even skewed towards romantic love, although it does apply there too. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to accept is that my mother simply wasn’t someone who was capable of loving me, and there is no version of me that I could have ever been that would have earned that love. But with acceptance came healing. I was able to love myself more instead of resenting myself for not being more than any one person could be.

Besides the fact that small, barren tanks are obviously not good for reptiles, I don’t get how people can stand looking at them. Why would you want this in your living room?

This is exactly why *this* is the beginning stage of Bob’s new home. There will be a multilevel series of caves and basking ledges on the right side, 4 inches of substrate, and he’ll have access to uv light.

That’s Bob down in the bottom right corner. Hopefully this cage will last him a good long while.

most lizards can’t run and breathe at the same time!

so while they may be pretty quick, basically being forced to hold their breath the entire time drastically reduces how far a lizard can scuttle compared to a mammal.

Went and picked up a girl from the FedEx hub this morning!!!! She’s right in the middle of a shed though so her colors aren’t true she’s a lot more yellow but oh my gosh she’s so pretty anyways😭

Her name is Jewel, bonus points if you can guess all three of her morphs
