Polishing day means tons of work (and fumes) but when it’s finished…🤩💖 https://www.instagram.com/p/CoLK-iVv9nq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I met a new client today at The Grove and decided to Mrs. Dalloway away the rest of the morning :) There may or may not be a jelly 🍩 in one of these bags! I consider this a perfectly reasonable trade for a Cartier tray! 😆#loveyoulosangeles (at The Grove & Farmer's Market in Los Angeles) https://www.instagram.com/p/CW_eLPlPbaE/?utm_medium=tumblr

I see versions of this classic design everywhere—from thrift shops, estate and garage sales, to the occasional auction. The silver basket never falls far out of favor as these pieces make ideal and inexpensive house-warming, wedding, and hostess gifts. The simple and elegant form elevates the display of whatever it holds, think bread, fruit, napkins, washcloths, hand-towels, and /or soap. In other words, the baskets wrangle household items into a more functional and stylish overall composition.
But where did this ubiquitous design come from? Read on for my take!
Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall & Joan Miró color lithographs printed by Maeght, Paris; published by Derrière Le Miroir, Paris. . The contemporary art review and journal, Derrière Le Miroir (Behind The Mirror), from French publisher and gallery owner Aimé Maeght of Galerie Maeght, was published from 1946 until 1982. Each issue contained unsigned original lithographs by notable Modernist artists created exclusively for the publication.

Among grandmillennials and other creative thinkers, a mix-and-match aesthetic is giving heirloom-quality porcelain—a bargain secondhand—buzzy new appeal.
Love this! So happy to see folks embrace and reuse these pieces in bold new ways.
Josef Albers (1888-1976) color screenprint on Mohawk Superfine Bristol wove paper from the artist's Formulation: Articulation, Folio II / Folder 33, published in 1972. The geometric composition of superimposed squares in shades of green on blue references the iconic Homage to the Square series Albers worked on for 25 years. Albers and two of his former students, Norman Ives and Sewell Sillman, created the prints for Formulation: Articulation over a two year period before their publication in an edition of 1000 in 1972. Sheet size: 15 in H x 20 in W Image size: 11.75 in H x 11.75 in W Mat size: 22.25 in H x 22.25 in W (outer dimensions). Josef Albers was an artist and teacher at The Bauhaus (1923-1933), Black Mountain College (1933-1949), and Yale University's School of Art (1950-1958). He published a two-volume set of silkscreen plates called Formulation: Articulation in 1972 at 88 years of age; each image was a reformulation of an earlier work. As the preface to the collection states: “The conceptual relationships between color and form inherent in each particular work have been restudied and developed for the medium of silk screening.”

This stunning Art Deco coupe is skillfully made but unsigned. If I created this beauty, I would sign every surface! ✍️

An elegant vintage Cartier silver serving tray in highly polished pewter, made in France, circa 1977. The round tray has a sleek Minimalist design with a wire-wrapped rim and is stamped “Cartier Pewter” in script along the bottom edge. The vintage serving tray measures 11 in. diameter — the perfect size for cocktails or cupcakes — and is in very good condition, retaining its original Cartier dust bag and signature red box. The hinged presentation box measures 12.75 in L x 12.75 in W x 2 in H. This tray is suitable for engraving and would make a handsome gift to commemorate a special event.
