JR Central Japan Railway Co. x Danganronpa collaboration!
Yes, that's right — DR is now getting to collab with transit companies. Wild.
Oh hey, Kazuichi gets to be included this time! You love to see some outside-the-box picks show up.
I first saw the details about this one on Reddit, where they said stuff such as:
Collaboration goods will be sold from April 3rd (Friday) – May 24th (Sunday), 2026 at Animate Osaka Nihonbashi and inside the Tokaido Shinkansen train (damn — does that mean no way to order these online this time?)
By accessing a special website from inside the Tokaido Shinkansen train while it is in motion, you can try solving the puzzles created by Monomi. Those who solve all the puzzles will receive one "original smartphone wallpaper (3 types in total)" at random per day.
If you present the ride certificate issued after solving the mystery at Animate Osaka Nihonbashi, you will receive an original Monokuma medal.
A digital stamp rally will be held at five locations in Osaka City. You can get a stamp by answering the quiz questions at each checkpoint correctly. If you collect all five stamps and go to Animate Osaka Nihonbashi, you will receive an A4 poster (one type available).
Oh, here's that "Monokuma medal":
And there's chibis of the special outfit art, too! Here's a sampler:

I went to the Danganronpa 15th Anniversary Exhibition!
If you regularly read my blog, you probably know that it has been a constant stream of events lately 😅 So many real world events have been happening one after another, and it has been quite busy. Still, I had a wonderful time.
For the first time, I was able to see the mascot costumes of Monokuma and Monomi in person.
When Monomi and Monokuma stand side by side, I am not sure whether it is due to differences in their production periods or something else, but Monomi somehow looks more well proportioned. lol In the official setting, she is supposed to be slightly shorter than Monokuma, though.
Most of the photos were taken after many visitors had already moved on to the next booth, so it may look as if the venue was empty. In reality, there were a great number of attendees.
Roughly half of the venue consisted of areas where photography was permitted. The only sections where photos were not allowed were Monokuma’s greeting video, newly recorded for this exhibition, the space announcing the results of a survey conducted specifically for the event, certain exhibits inspired by the executions in the series that were newly produced for this exhibition, and the voice actors’ autographs. Almost everything else could be photographed, or even if photography was technically prohibited, the content itself had already been made public elsewhere.
For that reason, to be completely honest, those who are not devoted fans might feel that the ticket price is a little high 😅 But for me, it was tremendously valuable. I especially loved being able to see the in game sprites printed at such a large scale in the photography friendly areas!
For example, this Makoto:
When you look closely, you can clearly see areas where the paint seems to extend slightly beyond the intended lines, as if something was not fully erased 😆:
Even the outline of the mouth appears layered in multiple strokes. I own the digital art book for DRAE, but at the resolution of the digital version, these kinds of details were completely invisible. Seeing the physical print made me incredibly excited about the tangible quality of the lines:
To be clear, I am not criticizing these aspects at all. Through interviews and other materials, I know how incredibly demanding the production environment was at the time. The fact that such fine details were left as they were actually makes it feel more real to me. It aligns with what I have learned about the development process, and that connection is what excites me.
Byakuya shows similar characteristics. Some lines are not perfectly clean, and there are spots that look like minor coloring oversights:
I had no idea that his glasses had such noticeable white edging:
The Servant also has quite a few areas where the coloring slightly extends beyond the lines.
On the chain attached to the Servant’s collar, there is a line that seems to be a remnant that was not erased. I had never noticed them before, but they are clearly visible in the art book. People who have carefully observed him may have known about them for a long time.
From a distance, however, everything looks absolutely beautiful. Komatsuzaki and the graphic artists at the time probably never imagined that these sprites would one day be enlarged and printed at such a massive scale:
The frills on Monaca’s collar:
I find the way Monaca’s eyelashes are drawn particularly charming:
They are incredibly delicate, almost as if rendered in pencil. I initially thought all the girls might be drawn this way, but Komaru’s eyelashes are depicted with bold, ink like lines instead:
Toko’s eyes and Genocide Jack’s eyes are also stunning 🥰
I've already hit the limit for photos I can attach to one post, so I'll continue in the next one.

the making of enoshima junko
junko is a fascinatingly funny villain who defies so many attempts to understand her, reason with her, or empathize with her. i think the creator of danganronpa even said she was made to be a villain who’s impossible to relate to or understand. BUT HERE I AM, writing a meta about the inner workings of her mind and her motivations as a villain and how much of a tragedy she really was, because i am out here empathizing with her and loving her with all my heart.
i think she can be difficult to understand, and it’s easy to give up and explain away her actions as just “an obsession with despair” but there’s so much more going on that i just can’t leave it at that.
SO HERE WE GO: what the fuck is going on in junko’s mind?
[contains MAJOR spoilers for the first and second games and danganronpa 0; includes content from unlocked bonus mode games]
