To you, Mom.
You know that song, heart and soul It's the first song I play every time I sit down The piano that came with our new place, Even a little out of tune it sounds great I wish I could play with you and Grandma again When I do play it by myself, I feel her in my memory sitting next to me Now I have to imagine I feel you as well I donāt think youāll ever visit this place either
7 years we lived in our last home The walls never got to know your presence even once I dreamed of showing you the painting works I did Bricks on an island counter A patio fit for a long sit and a joint with someone special I spent so much time healing in that place 7 years of growing farther and farther apart The healing salves, applied liberally and methodically acting as a barrier between us that only gets wider I lean in, you lean away because youāre afraid And so we sway Towards and away, Away, we stay.
