How do you... Start a qpr? Bc I have A LOT of info on romantic relationship (more than I want to actually, also I think everyone does since it's hurled at our face every day) but I never see anything about qpr. How do you start one? Does it just... Begins? But, how can you politely yet firmly say you are in a qpr to someone? You just straight on tell them? Gosh this is scary...

Yeah, people get into QPRs in different ways, but generally speaking just straight up telling the person you want a QPR with that you want one (and sometimes what they are) is often the best and easiest way to go about it.

Sometimes it may feel awkward, but I always go by the rule it's better to be a bit awkward but communicate clearly and be understood then the other way around.

How to say you're in a QPR with someone? Yeah just say it. If they don't know what a QPR is, maybe you can add in a bit of an explanation but if it's important for you to people to understand that, then stick to your guns and be firm. Don't let people mislabel your relationship.

As for info, both the LGBTA Wiki and Aromantic Wiki have a page on QPRs. Unfortunately you're right though and there isn't a lot of comprehensive info out there that's easy to just search out.

Friend Reminder that Aro-spec is in fact just that. A Spectrum. Some of us do feel small bits of romantic attraction. Some of us fall in love (platonic, alterous or romantically). Some of us are repulsed by the idea of romance. Some of us will never be in a "romantic" or queer platonic relationship. Some of us enjoy the thought of getting married. Some of us are indifferent. Some of us are fine with just having sexual relationships. Some of us worry about other things. But we are all on this big green spectrum of aromantic.

I wish there were more characters in media who openly state that they don't want to be in a romantic relationship and enjoy being single and it remaining that way till the very end. I'm tired of seeing characters being proven wrong for thinking they didn't want romance and changing their mindset entirely after they finally find 'true love'. Repeating this trope over and over just keeps encouraging allos to invalidate us and tell us that we just 'haven't met the right person yet'. Why do people assume relationships should eventually be desired by everyone and what's so wrong about not pursuing them? People around me constantly keep trying to convince me that I will definitely want a relationship and marriage someday, as if not wanting any of that is the worst thing I could ever do to myself and should not even be an option. This is why I wish there was more representation of this in media, in order for us to feel acknowledged and in order for other people to see that romance does not necessarily have to be everyone's end goal.

Aroace People: I would like a life-partner to love and care for deeply even though I don’t experience attraction. I may or may not wish to live with them permanently, to legally marry them, to adopt a child with them, to put them in my will, to assume major debts like housing and education together, and to overall align our lives to one another so that they occupy a place in my life which no other person does. Y’all don’t have to be sorry for not knowing what this is. It’s not really talked about anymore, sadly.

Alterous attraction is a type of attraction that is not entirely/ neither romantic or platonic. It’s seeing someone and immediately going “I must become very close to them” but like. Not in a romantic way. By nature, it’s meant to be nebulous so for some people it might feel closer to romantic attraction while for others it might be closer to platonic.

For me, it feels very similar to what I understand a crush to be but just not romantic. I want to be very close and platonically intimate with them.

Being alterously attracted to someone is called a mesh.

I popularized this form of attraction and nowadays when I see it used it's just... used wrong. I see ppl saying it's between platonic and romantic instead of being able to be both that and completely unrelated to it- it's like a nonbinary love, the binary being platonic and romantic, and it can diverge from those in many ways! I'm aro and apl so it really hurts when ppl force it to fit between the platonic-romantic spectrum every time.
