2025 Vaganova Graduation Performance
In honour of the 250th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre, which has just passed, I present an absolute diamond of a video: Ludmila Ivanovna Semenyaka coaching a young Svetlana Zakharova and Nikolai Tsiskaridze for Marina Semenova's anniversary gala at the Bolshoi, 2003. All three ballerinas were trained in St. Petersburg and started their careers in Mariinsky/Kirov before joining the Bolshoi.
"I was invited by the Bolshoi Theatre for a guest performance, but since I was still with the Mariinsky at that time I didn’t have any repetiteur in Moscow. My partner, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, pointed out Ludmilla Semenyaka who happened to be available then. When I returned to dance the Kingdom of the Shades Act in the gala for Marina Semyonova at the Bolshoi I worked with her again. And I am very happy it turned out this way, because we empathise with each other a great deal. Our personalities are very close, we come from the same school and she also moved to Moscow." -Zakharova

On July 10, 2026, The Mariinsky celebrated Victoria Tereshkina's 25th anniversary with the theatre. Tereshkina chose the program and cast, and then added another piece by Ilya Zhivoy to the program. I think it was called, "Dreams," but I cannot recall. By all accounts, Victoria dazzled with her emotional depth and flawless performance. The audience responded with long and rapturous applause. While Tereshkina seems to be in incredible form—and at the peak of her mastery and artistry, she is forty-four. Even for a legend like her, she's facing the twilight of a storied and celebrated career, which makes this moment on stage during bows all the more emotional. She is the Prima Assoluta of our time. My only wish is that I could travel to St. Petersburg before she retires. I would love to see with my own eyes at least once in my life. It's with a heavy heart that I think this likely won't happen. 📹: Unknown on TG — but I will try to backtrack to provide proper attribution. Below is a copy of the program for that evening.
