Oh, Inkubus, you and your, um, special tail.
why are you calling me out like this
Screw pants!
SMT DemiKids: Dark - Day x Gaming Diary
So I’ve already been playing a bunch of this game and I have absolutely no desire to restart it just so I can replay a bunch in order to document it for a gaming diary. No thank you, I have put way too many hours into hunting down dozens of demons to fuse into things that allow me to actually make progression in this game. So I’m just going to start the documentation from where I am right now. Which is right outside Limbo. Just so’s ya know.
While traversing Limbo Prison, I come across a room where some random fluffy-looking demon asks for unspecified help. I agreed, and it turns out he wanted me to "keraang keraang" on the wall until... a Roksaur pops out. And randomly joins my party, because weird rocks with worms for heads just do that sometimes.
I make my way to Bul, who's guarding a hole in the wall and tells me that this is the only way to Limbo, then moves aside so I can pass. How he heard that I was coming, I have no idea. Demonic telepathy? I'm thinking demonic telepathy.
But anyway, onward I go.
Along the way I nab a few extra demons, to see if they fuse into anything interesting or useful (I doubt it, given the team I have at the moment), and if they don't, I can just forcefeed them to Gale to make him more powerful. Which sounds really cruel when I put it that way. It does beg the question, though, of what happens to demons you fuse? Do their personalities get obliterated and they just become an entire new thing? Does the new thing contain aspects of the things that were fused to make it? Does Gale just absorb life energy from demons to get stronger, and does he thus also absorb memories or emotions?
Or am I just reading way too much into this?
No, it's an SMT game. Even if it's for kids. There's no such thing as "reading too much into it."
So I find Crosel blocking the exit, and holy crap, that's the cutest damn enemy I've faced so far! Those eyes! Those adorable alien eyes!
Boss fights in this game aren't hard. It only took me 4 rounds of doing nothing but attacking, and it would have taken me 3 had one of my attacks not missed. No healing needed. There was no danger. I have more trouble from random encounters than I tend to have from boss fights, really.
Anyway, Crosel goes down in a blaze of blah, and as soon as the way is cleared, Gale decides it's time to evolve again. Hurray, stronger demon for me! Plus I like how Gale looks, kind of like a purple serpentine dragon thing, if such things were also maybe half robot or something. Either way. Loving the new look, Gale!
I find out that Lena was taken by Imperius, and that Jin has gone after her, so I have to keep going onward to find them. But the only exit is blocked. I backtrack all the way through Limbo and return to town, only to find out that all the rebels have run because Imperius's forces have arrived. Speaking to Naomi gives me the info that everyone's headed to "The Lair," west of Hermit, so that's where I'm headed next. Fortunately I can just use a teleport spell to get back to Hermit and save myself some time.
After heading west, I come across the Lair, hidden behind a waterfall, where I encounter Amy and Guy again. Guy tries to convince me to go back to my own world and let someone else rescue Lena, but being the loyal and true friend I am, I refuse. Until Judy reminds me that I should probably go back to my own world to remove the Time Rifts that appeared there, and you know, when you put it like that, it does seem like a good idea. Guy also tells me to seek the Powers of Light and Dark when I'm back in my world, since they're the only things that Imperius ever feared.
But before I do that, I have to wander around aimlessly and collect 10 Orochi so I can fuse them into Octorex, and that's going to take ugh amount of time. Doing nothing but hoping that my negotiations succeed. That, I think, will come next time, since I'm tired and am developing a headache and I should probably stop staring at screens and pixels for a while.
Changes, I guess.
Okay, so like, on the advice of maybe one person plus ideas I’ve been swirling about in my head for a little while, Quadnines is going to have some changes. 1) Obvs I haven’t been posting any video reviews for a while. And I’m going to start again. Not immediately, but maybe in a month or two, and I’ve been working on stuff to get me back into that. 2) When I do start posting the video reviews again, they’ll be focusing on RPGs and other story-driven or plot-heavy video games. Because that’s the kind of game I like best, and that’s the kind of game I find most entertaining to comment on. 3) Among other things, I’m going to use this Tumblr for gaming diary type stuff. Like back in the old days, before these young whippersnappers had their YouTubes and their Twitches and all these fancy-schmancy Interwebs things.
(Okay, so we had the Interwebs, too...)
This is something I used to do years ago. I’d keep track of what I did in a game, write down my progress, make note of any interesting things I found out, theories I had, random fannish stuff, and it amused me, and if those old entries in online journals were an indicator, it amused at least a couple of other people too. I don’t care much if people aren’t as interested now, because really, I just miss doing stuff like that. I found it fun. I got to exercise my writing skills and coming up with fan theories entertained me and swearing angrily at boss fights was great, and I’m not sure I can carry that off as well in speech as I can in writing.
And some of what I write will end up helping me script the eventual review, so that’s a good thing. Doing this will actually make the reviews better. And who doesn’t want a good review?
That’s what I thought.
Let’s Play Pokemon Dark Rising, with a Nuzlocke challenge for extra-hard fun! Today I experiment with a new style of editing to make episodes a little more condensed, and I make my way through the Twist Woodlands.
Part 2 of my Nuzlocke run of Pokemon Dark Rising is ready for your viewing pleasure! In this episode, my team rises to 4 members, and I seriously consider whether or not the player character is schizophrenic.
Want to be a pop sensation but all you have is a Gameboy Advance? Never fear; American Idol has you covered! Check out my review of a game that really has no place on that particular system.
My vacation’s over, and I return with a new Let’s Play video! This time I’m going for Pokemon Dark Rising, a fan-made hack of Pokemon Fire Red that’s reported to be the hardest hack out there. Plus I’m doubling down by making my playthrough a Nuzlocke run. How far will I get before it becomes too hard? Only time will tell.
Well, that happened.
Evidently falling asleep on the couch while watching @projared playing Asagao Academy makes for some weird dreams. Long story short, I think I visited Asagao in my dreams, and the school has a secret basement devoted to training the next big video game club. Also they have bathrooms at the back of every classroom. ...Seems legit.
Let’s Play Final Fantasy V: The Naked Freelancers Guild! No jobs, no equipment, no problems! Today we make our way through North Mountain, and HOLY SHIT, is that 2 bosses at once?!
Part 6 of the Naked Freelancers Guild playthrough of Final Fantasy V is up! No jobs, no equipment, no problem! This time I DIDN’T die fighting the Siren, and I made it to Carwen.
No episode tonight
I know, I know, you’re all so disappointed. But I’m still recovering from cruddy health stuff, so I’m taking a break from my schedule. Rest assured that there’ll be another video up tomorrow night, though.
This scene was too great to deny drawing, haha.
@peanutbuttergamer
Let’s Play Final Fantasy V: The naked Freelancers Guild. Part 5 is up for your viewing pleasure, assuming your pleasure involves watching me get my ass handed to me by a boss I’d forgotten about. No jobs, no equipment, plenty of problems!
Let’s Play Final Fantasy V: Naked Freelancers Guild! No jobs, no equipment, no problem! Except... totally a problem, because of limited potions.
No jobs, no equipment, no problem! Part 3 of the naked Freelancers Guild playthrough of Final fantasy V is up on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
Just in case you missed it, everyone, I’m back with a new video! And it’s 35 minutes long! Ah! Please share it around, it was a lot of hard work <3
