Mother? Is That You?
The Underground was quiet. Not a single sound was heard, the emptiness only being filled by his own footsteps tapping against the ground.  Togore was walking, nothing much to do as usual he thought. Living alone, he’d always find himself bored, going out for strolls to at least keep himself busy. The prince was in the Ruins, walking through the familiar purple halls, the area being one of his most favorite and constantly visited destinations for walks. Giving out a sigh, he walked further nearing the area where Toriel’s house was.
Reaching a path with a break in it, he decided to go to the left, the path he was turning on had orange leaves fluttering about from it. Now heading straight, in sight was that same old tree, more orange leaves blowing from its branches, a pile forming below its firm base. It was beautiful, the light coming through the small cracks above warmed him up. Ready to continue, he walks past the tree and finds himself standing in front of the home of his mother.
Never was there a time where he expected someone to be there, thinking that the goat mom abandoned her humble abode after the barrier broke. Going in, he was about to sit down on that one soft couch when he suddenly heard humming. It was coming from the kitchen. Ears tensed a bit making sure it wasn’t just his mind playing tricks on him, tiptoeing away from the chair and going near the kitchen. Behind the wall, he peeks out his head and lets out a small gasp, eyes widened and heart beat suddenly increasing.
It couldn’t be…
Not here, not now…
She finally decides to show herself?
Togore seemed a bit angry. His mother was standing right there, tending to her pots and pans while humming a soft tune. He stayed perfectly still, hoping she hadn’t noticed that little gasp he made.
Toriel, his own mother…. she was right there…
@queen-toriel
The Boss Monster stands in the kitchen, cleaning the remainders of a pie recipe gone haywire. She turns to a cookbook propped up next to her, and flips through the pages.
Maybe she added too much filling.Â
Toriel lets out a quiet laugh and closes the cookbook. She shuffles over to a cabinet and returns the book to its proper place, singing all the way.Â
Her ears twitch.Â
Is she hearing things?Â
The beast whips her head around, and surveys the area around her.
“H-hello? Is anyone there?” Â
What was that noise? Had something entered her home? Â
“Show yourself!”
This wasn’t good, it seemed that the motherly Boss Monster herself had good ears as well, a trait shared among their kind. Togore quietly curses this, backing away slowly from where he stood before running away completely. Too bad though since he didn’t make it that far, falling face flat in front of his mothers chair. He rolled over to lay on his back, rubbing his knees. Sighing and cursing some more, this was starting off terribly.Â
He could hear Toriels footsteps, closer and closer it seems.Â
Soon she’ll find out.
“D-Dang it…..” He only sat there, rubbing his knees and awaiting for whatever was about to come.
Toriel wearily paces around the kitchen, checking cabinets and cupboards. She holds out a hand and a small flame appears.Â
Toriel rarely used fire magic, but this was a special occasion. In all of her years living in the Ruins, only 3 creatures had dared to intrude. Â
She turns around, exits the kitchen, and enters the living room…
There, in front of her, is Togore.
Who is that? He looks so … familiar. Was he another Boss Monster? Was he part of the royal family?Â
Toriel chooses her words carefully.
“W-who are you?!”
Rubbing his knees from pain a bit more, he was able to finally stand up, dusting off any dirt that may have attached to his fur. He looks at her with a leer, did she not remember her own son? Seeing the fireball in her hand, the goat backed away a little. Right now wasn’t really a good time for fighting. He just wanted to talk.
“My names… Togore……” His head slightly facing down.
“I don’t know if you may know me so well but…. from another timeline I guess….. I am your second son.” His head tilts up and gives her a smug look.
“It’s finally nice to meet you mother~” The Toriel of this timeline may have not caused the prince’s own grief but he still felt angry, it just couldn’t be help since they all were kinda the same in ways, his glare only intensifying on her.
Toriel had very minimal knowledge about timelines and alternate universes, but she knew they existed.
As a matter of fact, she had met a Frisk from such a timeline.
Apparently, Toriel had a second son in Togore’s timeline. She didn’t bother to question the validity of Togore’s claims, as “Togore” most certainly sounded like a name that Asgore came up with.Â
She tries her best to dodge Togore’s glare.Â
“Oh! Hello, Togore!”Â
The fire in her palm slightly intensifies.
“It’s a … pleasure to meet you!”
Toriel lets out a very nervous laugh.
“W-what brings you here? Are you … lost?”
“…Are you alright?”
“Oh yes. I’m quite alright mother dearest.~” He smirks at her, eyes still remaining locked onto her body. Noticing the fireball grow bigger in her palms, he gets suspicious. Was she going to attack him?  Putting one hand behind him, he generates a fireball too, blue and medium in size. Remaining calm, he speaks in a gentle tone.Â
“So Ms. Toriel. Does my name ring a bell? Oh teehee,~ I forgot. Your from this timeline apparently. It should be clear to you how hmm… how should we say this? Unimaginative my name is. Togore?” Moving on the side slowly, feeling the heat of his fire blaze. It was growing.
“I didn’t think anybody would be home. I thought you were up in the Surface living happily with your human brat,” He snarled. “Yes aren’t they a cutie? Isn’t it funny how all Toriels from every timeline seem to prefer a human over their own kind?” The goat approaches closer. “Their own child??”
Togore was still fed up with the past. It didn’t matter if this Toriel wasn’t his mother. Well in a way, she still was but just from an extension it seems, timelines and alternate universes were truly confusing. Overall, this goat mom was no different. Same looks, same clothing, same personality.
…..And same flaws…
Toriel takes a step back and the fire ball fizzles out. She really, really didn’t want to fight anyone right now, whether it be another Boss Monster or all of the humans at once.
But Togore had a point. Was she an uncaring mother? Asriel brought in the fallen child and she raised it as if it were one of her own. Was Asriel ever … jealous?Â
And more importantly, was Togore jealous?
She opened her mouth to speak.Â
The Boss Monster considered the situation. Another Boss Monster, supposedly her own son, somehow ended up in her timeline. He was angry at her.
What was she supposed to do?Â
“Human … brat? What on earth do you mean?”
She bit her lip.
“L-listen, I’m not from your timeline. Whatever the … other Toriel did to you …”
Toriel’s eyes darted around the room.Â
“I’m sorry. I apologize on her behalf.”
She sighed.
“…What did the other Toriel do to you, anyways?”
He appeared to be much more calmer now, the fireball he produced diminishing until it vanished. He sighed and stood properly from where he was, lowering his glare to look at her normally.
“….No…..I’m sorry if I got a little pushy there….” Rubbing his hands, the heat was still there as he felt it.. Why should she be apologizing? Yes, he knows, Toriel was the cause of his grief but that didn’t mean all of them did. Especially this one who seemed more confused at what was going on and what he was trying to say.
“You don’t have to apologize…. I-I’m sorry but what she did to me-” referring to his own Toriel. “was selfish. “ His voice tuning up in anger again.
“A human falls down and she… you adopt them. Have you ever considered what it was like? To be told stories of them exiling us, killing us, hating us and then suddenly your living with one of their kind? Have you ever considered the feelings of Asriel?” He stomps the ground hard. “Of me?!” Clearly, he was venting the accusations mostly towards his own mother from his timeline but the part of Toriel forgetting about her other son Asriel was pointed directly at her.
He wrapped his arms and turned his head away.
“Nghhh… whatever. It’s not like I should care about Asriel….” This was a heavy subject to talk about. He never does share his past. But he was talking with his own mother or at least the one from this timeline so he figured it was okay to at least puff out some steam.
“You…. her, dad and Asriel. You all loved the human. They all loved them! So I had to do it. I just couldn’t stay in the same house with that human…”
“I had to run away….”
Toriel glanced towards the kitchen, looked up at the ceiling, and scanned the hallway. She found it difficult to meet Togore’s gaze, but ...
She took a deep breath, and attempted to smile. Togore had all the reason in the world to be upset. His mother - in a sense, Toriel herself - had done him harm and he fled because of it.Â
The Boss Monster placed a paw on Togore’s shoulder and pulled him into a bear hug. It was the least she could do.Â
But what about Asriel? Yes, Asriel loved the human child in her timeline as well, but where he ended up ... Toriel didn’t want to think about it.
A few minutes pass.
Toriel releases Togore from the hug.
“So ... uh, what exactly did you do after you ran away? I’m quite curious.”
