Drea, narrating: Lilith gave me a crash course in how to be bad. She wanted me to be like her. She said she was making me stronger. But she was only doing what Hell and Straud had done to her — dominating, oppressing, terrorizing. She wanted me to believe killing was a requirement, like I would crumble into dust if I didn’t siphon every drop of blood. It’s embarrassing how long I believed that one. After a while, she and her brother had nearly stopped speaking, which only made her crush me closer. Then he left, and as much as she insisted he’d been dragging her down, she was miserable without him. We ravaged and raged, sulked and sparred, then kissed and made up. It dragged off and on for years. One night, it hit me: I might as well have never left that dark alley. I was nothing but trash beneath her feet. She was bored of me, but Lilith spun it like she was allowing me to leave — and I would pay if I didn’t come running whenever she called me back.

[laughs bitterly] It sounds like an empty threat when I say it, but my siblings are still alive. They have children, grandchildren. I’d never forgive myself if she hurt them. As fucked up as it is, there’s a part of me that’s actually starving for her to want me back, even now. But the last time I saw her she had some new human girl eating out of the palm of her hand, and then I came across your video… Listen, I don’t know why you’re digging into this, but-

Julia: My sister. I think she might be doing the same thing to her.

Drea: [exhales sharply] I’d say God help her, but I’m not sure even God wants to cross Lilith Vatore.

Julia: How can we get her out?

Drea: We? You sound like you’ve got a death wish, Buffy. I’m sorry, but there’s a difference between telling you what I know and joining your little fantasy slayer squad. Respectfully, this is where I bow out.

Julia: But then what should I do?

Drea: If you ask me, count your lucky fucking stars it wasn’t you.

Julia: [groans in frustration] You know, so far, you big bad vampires are all talk and no action!

Lilith: Sorry I kept you waiting. I had some… business to attend to. Remind me, Drea. Where did we leave off?

Drea: Listen, time’s up for beating around the bush, so give it to me straight. Are you a vampire?

Lilith: [unconvincingly] Vampires aren’t real.

Drea: Bullshit. I’ve been at every show since Del Sol Valley. I’ve seen the fangs flashing onstage, the red eyes glowing in the dark, the supernatural spell over the audience. [pauses expectantly] The groupies who disappear until morning and return — if they return — dazed and confused.

Lilith: [smirks] Oh, so you’d like to be one of them? Doesn’t it scare you, the thought of the ones who don’t come back?

Drea: No.

Lilith: Well, I suppose I can put a word in with Miss Hell, though I think she’s already preoccupied with-

Drea: [giggles] It’s not Miss Hell I’m here for. Because you know who else I’ve seen at every show? You.

Drea, narrating: Some people might say I was asking for it. Those people are fucking idiots. Sure, I was an adrenaline junkie seeking a high, but the veil of persuasion hanging over that place was so thick you could practically choke on it. “One more drink,” she kept saying, squeezing her seductive tentacles tighter around my skull. I had no control over that moment at all, if I’d ever had any to start with. I was sure I would die there, nothing but trash crumpled up in the alley, decomposing alongside the roaches. But I didn’t. I saw black and red, felt my body dragged across pavement, heard them bickering over how much my existence was worth.

Lilith: I’m the one who chooses, Mary, remember? Well, this one is mine, and I’m choosing to save her.

Miss Hell: No, you’re choosing me to save her for you. They’re food, Lilith, not pets.

Lilith: She wouldn’t be a pet. She’d be one of us, an equal.

Miss Hell: And what makes her so deserving of that privilege? Do you even know her name?

Lilith: It’s Drea, and I like her! She… wanted me! [quietly] It was nice to be reminded how that feels.

Miss Hell: [amused] Oh, is poor little Lilith feeling unloved? God forbid you’re not the center of my universe for five fucking seconds!

Lilith: You’ve been done with me for months, Marybell. Why not let me have her?

Miss Hell: Funny you think you deserve a favor, considering you nearly jumped ship with your bleeding heart brother.

Lilith: But I didn’t! I stayed. I helped.

Miss Hell: You do it then, if you want her so badly.

Lilith: [through gritted teeth] I told you. I never learned to do it right. Straud bled me like a pig over my brother’s body. I’d empty her of whatever life is left before the gift took. Please.

Miss Hell: [sighs heavily] Fine. Give me some fucking space. Now, get her out of my sight. I have neither the patience nor the time to raise a fledgling.

Do they have an emotional support TV show? 📺

Yes, they do. Caleb is absolutely addicted to porn. Food porn, that is. (He does watch the other kind, but not to the same extent.) He's always watching cooking shows. (Mainly, something that looks like an expy of Iron Chef, and another show featuring an old woman who I guess is supposed to be an expy of Julia Child.)

When life (or, you know, unlife) gets hard, Lilith retreats into sports on TV. They don't really lean on sitcoms or classic shows from their childhood, because they weren't really allowed to watch a whole lot of TV back then. Edward didn't really let them watch programs that weren't either religious or educational. A lot of Sims from their generation (or, you know, the ones that haven't keeled over at their grandchildren's weddings, or woohooed themselves to death) spend endless amounts of time reminiscing about shows from the Slime Channel, or dissociating in front of rewatching the Sims' answer to Friends and Seinfeld for the umpteenth time.
