“Well the thieves’ lives were spared and the festival has begun. I feel like a weight has been lifted off all our shoulders and now we all start to be happy again. Do you feel that way?”

“Perhaps it’s better this way. If this was to be solved between the kingdoms’ rulers, and they did not agree, consequences could be even worse. The people can get angry, but they can’t command armies.”

"You are certainly right about that. I believe in the people and in my heart I know that this will work itself out. If they can trust me not to fail them that I can do the same."

“I do not think the people are in the right position to chose now. They are not objective, they do not need to carry the sentence out themselves. It is easy to kill someone if all it takes is your word.”

“But at the end of the day,aren’t we all just people?  I wear a crown and my word could easily have someone killed but I am still a person with my own thoughts and free will and I can use that to change someone’s life.  They may not be objective but they are strong and have minds of their own. I just hope they will use minds and their hearts to make the right decision.”

“That is true. I feel though by giving them this choice, they are also deciding their own fates as well,the choice to save a life or damn one takes a courage and this forces us  to confront what truly drives us,even me.”

“That knowledge we can either attain easily or we will never get at all,it depends what exactly these thieves are willing to give up. The people need to feel like they are a part of the workings of our realm and somehow this opportunity to either spare a life or end has somehow united them in a way I have never seen before.”

"Not a decision of this nature aleast. Either way someone will lose and someone will be angry. I wanted the chance to save these lives but this might only makes things worse."

Mara liked visiting the other kingdoms,seeing their beauty and it was a brisk day for a nice walk. She had given her ladies the day to themselves and promised her guards she’d stay on the path ad went on her way. Walking through the village of  Lower Piyara,Mara was absentmindedly looking through the stalls at the market,she felt herself bump into someone hard. “Oh,I’m sorry! Are you alright?”

"It is actually,quite the opposite. I wish to lose something,rather,someone. I come to you because I want magic that can make me forget something,erase it from my mind completely. Can you do that?"

Because one does not come without the other.” Brynja’s voice was as firm as the queens, for in the past years the former thief had learned to stand her ground, yet her insides were in turmoil. “The Badlands will not so easily be conquered, as some in the kingdoms hope. We will not be toyed with, no matter how powerful the leaders that try to trick us. So tell me, Queen Mara, what is it that makes Manon a good friend of my people?”

"I want both, I will have both.For years, Manon has asked others for protection but now we ask, no, we demand something much more valuable." Mara said,sharply.

"I have no tricks,nor do my people. Manon can give you what no other kingdom offers:advancement. The other kingdoms don't want you or your people,they want your land. Stand with Manon and I will make sure there isn't an army outside your walls. Your people will have opportunities here instead of a life of servitude. I suggest you listen to what I say because sooner or later,they will come for all of you and this time,there won't be a war. Just silence and dust."

Dearest Juliana,

Your presence is deeply missed and deeply felt here in the castle. I miss you dearly and I know there a great many others who share my sentiments.  My guards speak of you a great deal,of the great paladin of Manon and it makes me laugh to hear the stories they share of you.

There is so much I want to know! I want to know about your travels across the kingdoms,and your work with the knights in Upper Manon. I have yet to hear any distressful news from The Baron but I am concerned. I know that you have a way with the people so I ask that you will be my eyes and ears.  I fear that there might be something going on that I am not aware of.  The kidnapping of these children has already put me on edge and I fear for their safety as well as those beyond my reach,including you. 

This was suppose o be a letter about you and here I am speaking of my own concerns. Are you happy? Are you safe? I do hope no one has come near you with a dress  since I have experienced your reaction to gowns first hand. I want to know everything that you are doing,and I thank you for your bravery old friend.

Please be safe,Juliana. There are so many forms of darkness threatening to engulf our world and I do not wish to lose such a great friend and brave paladin.

"And I am the Queen of Manon and what I want from you is your allegiance."Mara said firmly."Be aware that others would take from you and leave you with nothing but that,as you know,is not what I do. You may listen to what I have to say or you may return to The Badlands,that is your choice to make."
