This might be the first equine type that never had a previous reference sheet? Like I do have old designs of Qilins, but they're almost all traditional drawings I never posted. There's one digital drawing I posted on some places, but I don't think here? It was my first proper drawing with my, at the time, brand new drawing tablet.

For my Qilins, I combined them with the Longma due to the fact that I didn't want another solely winged equine type in my world. They were starting to outnumber the equines who didn't have wings! So, that was the compromise I reached, which resulted in the winged variant. The specific design inspiration behind their wings were pterosaurs! Since it was the only other type of flighted animal who didn't have wings represented on an equine in my world. Though they're not an exact replica, I took a few liberties with it! Instead of having regular cloven hooves, they have what I call "hooked" cloven hooves. I thought it would fit their lifestyle a bit better! Like the Kelpies I've designed before, they always have scales of any size and shape on their belly. With them also having a random number of scales on other parts of their body! Another equine type they share characteristics with are the Unicorns, with them both having a mane going down their back and a "traditional unicorn tail" (sometimes called a lion or ox tail, depends on who you ask).

As for their biology, they have a very atypical lifestyle from other equines. Historically, Qilins have been tree-climbers instead of runners, causing several of their unique characteristics. The winged variant is caused by being born with the Wind Element, though because not all Qilins have that element, a rather large population has no wings at all. However when they do, despite being winged they are not flighted, because their wings work better for gliding.

omgg new sona alert??

i decide i wanted a sona that represented me as a person better than my current main sona, Orkid (who i don't think i'v ever posted on here??). which resulted in the creation of Heavenly Hoya!! despite being a horse person all my life, i've never actually had a proper equine sona before? but i feel most represented by equines, specifically unicorns, so he had to be a unicorn!!

his design takes inspiration from the last unicorn and iridescent objects like precosia crystals. he is named after the flower next to his ear, the Hoya carnosa, which is one of my favorite flowers!! idk how well it reads, but he's supposed to be chubby and short like i am.

woah horsie be upon ye

i've kinda some very bad artblock with my digital art for a while now due to unfortunate live circumstances. so i'm just kinda trying to fall back in love with my digital art again!

i've had an amazing time with my traditional art though, so maybe i should try to post some here sometime? various different sketch dumps i suppose.

anyways the characters in order are; Sapphire Rose, Endelient, and Cosmia. this specific grouping of characters wasn't chosen intentionally, but it's kinda funny it ended up being these three cause of their particular dynamic. very much so a mutual hatred between Saph and the other two!

i chose to draw Sapphire Rose because i realized that, for some reason, i always drew her with a cunning smile even though i imagine she doesn't emote much unless she has to? the other two i just wanted more recent art of.

~ Brush Week 2025: Day 2, Plushie Edward! ~

Original Design + Design Process Explanation below!!

~ Plushie Design Explanation ~

My first thought when I saw the prompt was "plushie" was those handmade etsy bats that I see all the time, the ones with patterns on their wings. I really loved the idea of patterned wings, and I specifically chose a stripe pattern because of Edward's original design randomizing to have raccoon markings, who are iconic for their striped tail. For his general markings, I remember that back in November, I had attended like a farm fair event where I won a raccoon plushie at a game. So I grabbed it and looked at how they simplified raccoon markings on it, and used that as my inspiration! While I do own two lop rabbit plushies, neither of them were in the style I wanted to go for Edward's design, so instead I used Plushie Dreadfuls as inspiration for his face and the way his lop ears were placed. His feathers are intended to be those like flat pieces of fabric you see on plushies that are supposed to have a spiked back, kinda like Vaporeon?

~ Brush Week 2025: Day 1, Cosmic Edward ~

Original Design + Design Process Explanation Below!

This is Edward! He was created from a randomized Creature Design Challenge, and ended up with such a cursed design that I decided to make him into an OC. I haven't used him in several years, so I decided to use him for this challenge!!

~ Cosmic Design Explanation ~

Due to Edward's body shape, I wanted him to be reminiscent of a shooting star!! His coat became grey, though I used a more blue-ish grey than the one that was in the brush (as the color palettes were stated to be a suggestion not a rule). And I decided to change his facial marking and feather tuft into a shooting star shape. His fins are also supposed to look like a five pointed star just. . . sideways I suppose. I'm personally a really big fan of four pointed stars, so I included two of them in his designs in his pupil shape and his tail tip. Most of his yellow accents in his original design became golden, except for his wings as I did something completely different! Instead of using his standard bat wings, I wanted his wings to look like they were made of cosmic energy. I did try to keep the bat wing shape, but because of the blending brush I used it did end up looking feathered.

Making a new post because the other one isn't getting traction. please help me pay for my cat's vet bills

hi, i'm starting this again hoping that it will help. a few days ago my kitten Barbie started limping on her left back leg. we took her to the vet, and the vet suggested she might have broken a bone and suggested we took her out of town to get an x-ray done by another vet.

the x-ray results came in, and she did in fact fracture a bone. fortunately it wasn't very serious, and only a small chip on her leg bone, which means she won't need surgery, but she got prescribed lots of medicine to help with the healing

my mother is a single mom who gets paid very little to sustain our whole family and so she couldn't afford paying for all those expenses, and asked i do it instead. on top of all the vet expenses, and also have an $88 bill on my credit card to pay for. i worry i won't have enough to pay for everything and so i need help

i'm unemployed and my only source of money is from my ko-fi. ialso take commissions which are open right now

The original concept for the Kelpies of Rearing Redwoods was made in 2020, and they've massively changed since then!!

It's more of a situation where a lot was added to them as opposed to removed. I believe the only thing I removed was their old pointy ears? It was getting to be extremely difficult to draw, especially at different angles, so away it went! Their front leg hands were altered to be scaled instead of just,, not because they looked oddly bald without it. Speaking of them, they now have scales on other areas of their body!! Kelpies will always have a scaled belly and nose, but can have scales on other areas of their body too. The scale on the nose was inspired by male gharials! Their fangs changed slightly, with them now being possible to go upwards instead of just downwards. Last thing that changed about them was that some variations have shells on their back or finned tails.

As for their biology, they have an extremely different diet from the standard equine. While still being able to survive on a regular forage diet, it is fully possible for them to consume fish, insects, crustaceans, and mollusks! Their appearance can very quite a lot between individuals, with them having spikes/osteoderms of various sizes and shapes. In addition to various scale patterns! Kelpies do not give live birth and instead lay eggs around the 8th month of their pregnancy. They have about 1-2 eggs on average, with a third one being extremely rare but not unheard of. Like other egg laying equines, they do still nurse their foals once they've hatched.
