My absolute Favourite thing About The Bridgertons+ Kate dynamic is that their reaction to Kate and Anthony getting married is the Exact opposite to the Ton's.

The Ton: God, Why does Lord Bridgerton want to marry her????

The Bridgertons: So this woman is intelligent, and Smart, and pretty. And she wants to marry Anthony??? That just doesn't seem legit.

I just want to say I'm in Bridgerton fandom on multiple platforms (twitter, reddit, a few whatsApp groups) and seeing you and theviscountbridgerton answering asks are my favorite thing ever! I could just spend hours reading what you have to say about Kate and Anthony!

Kate and Anthony are my favorite Bridgerton couple, EVER. because they both have trauma but they got over it together and as a couple they sass each other so much. She makes Anthony laugh and be himself.

If you notice in the show, the Bridgerton Anthony is closest to, is Violet, because he's had to play the role of emotional support for his mother and surrogate father for his siblings.

In the show we see the easy relationship Eloise has with Benedict and even Colin's relatively easygoing bond with Daphne, same with Hyacinth and Gregory. But who does Anthony always offer his arm to in balls? Violet. Because it's his duty. And you get the feeling that while Anthony is willing to allow his siblings to be themselves with him. He's never truly himself with them. He's always the Viscount before he's the son or the brother. And the Bridgertons understand that. I loved that the show could accurately portray what exactly separates Anthony emotionally from his siblings.

And then just as he decides to marry, hopefully to a girl who like him, will be the Viscountess, before any other role. He meets Kate, and the miracle happens, she doesn't care that he's a Viscount, she doesn't care about the ton or whatever Lady Whistledown says about her. All Kate wants is her sister to be happy and when it comes to Anthony she decided he's not good enough for Edwina (and by extension, Her).

The only times Kate drops her guard is when Anthony is being himself, when he jokes, talks about his family, teases her about the dog. And that's what makes Kate perfect for him. Kate fell inlove with Anthony the man, not Anthony the Viscount. He can drop all pretenses with her.

I want to see that level of not only physical but emotional intimacy that Kanthony has.

Gregory’s relationship with Kate is one my favorite underrated things. He admits that Anthony was really the only father he’d known and while Kate’s not filling in the role of his mom, Kate is every bit Gregory older sister as Daphne, Eloise, and Francesca. (Which of course isn’t to say he doesn’t think of Sophie and Penelope as sisters)

Kate is one of the first people to see the connection between Lucy and Gregory, in fact she knew before Gregory himself knew he was in love with Lucy. Kate was doing social etiquette gymnastics to create scenarios for Lucy to get to stay so Gregory could sort of his feelings. Gregory hates disappointing Kate or upsetting her. Throughout Gregory’s book Kate is a constant sounding board for him. And while Sophie and Benedict are the iconic sweeping love story of the Bridgerton family-Gregory wants a life more like Anthony and Kate’s. He even notes that Lucy was like a lot Kate with her no nonsense and outspoken slyness and that’s something he really admires about Lucy early on. The two of them have their own little jokes and repitoire-which largely include making fun of one Lord Anthony Bridgerton. Its adorable.

And it all culminates in Gregory naming his first born child Katherine. He had 4 blood related sisters (all of which he would honor in the naming of his many many children) but he and Lucy picked Kate first. That’s how much Kate meant to both of them but especially to Gregory.

Can you imagine Kate opening the letter announcing the birth of baby Katherine Bridgerton...she cried for hours and Anthony, who hates his wife’s tears had no idea what to do.
