Story of My Life | Selena and Candace
"Oh.."
Candace clasped a hand over her chest, heaving a quiet sigh of relief. She flushed in slight embarrassment for having overreacted, offering Selena an awkward, self-reproachful laugh. âAhah.. hah.. I knew that. I was justâ mm, I just came out to see the stars. Itâs gonna be spring soon, you know..? But winter is always the best time to see the stars..â
She faltered in her explanation as Selena approached - and she fought to keep her eyes on the other womanâs face, trembling slightly. âMmâ wrong? Whatâsâ⊠nothingâ I canât think ofâ I donât know what you mean byâ by wrongâ why do you ask..?â
"... you're right." Selena nodded, conceding at least that point to the other woman. "Still, you should at least have some company... even in a little town in the sticks like this, bad things happen to girls on their own."
"You're jumpier than a Mexican jumping bean- and I hate those things." She curled her lip. "Stupid little- but anyway, you just seem off today. Like something's eating at you." She studied her carefully. "Well, there's no way it could be boy troubles..." She muttered, unaware that she was speaking aloud. Boys and Candace? Her flashy little sister, maybe but not this little mouse.

[A bag of cookies mysteriously shows up on Candace's doorstep. An attached note says: "If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together. -Happy Harmony Day-"]
"Was this Luke?" She wondered, folding up the note. Man, she was gonna have to dance a lot to work these off.
After swinging by the bar, he leaves a white box with a purple ribbon tied around it near the stage. In the box were white chocolate hearts with purple swirled into it. Attached to it was a note.
Happy Harmony Day, Sel! I hope you like the chocolates I made~
Kasey
Selena gaped at the fancy box of chocolates. She really hadn't been expecting this... and from Kasey of all people?
"Ay caramba," She muttered, shaking her head. That boy was quite a surprise....
For the cutie with the booty. Happy White Day! Your hips really do not lie. Call me! ~Kai
Selena stared at the cake in her hands. It didn't disappear- not that she'd thought it would.
But honestly, who the hell was Kai???
She glared at the number scribbled on the back and crumpled the paper. She did not have time for ridiculous men who sent her... delicious cake?
She put down her fork, slowly uncrumpling the paper.
Maybe she'd save this... just for a bit.
A Certain Kind of Elegance | Selena and Mary
The woman was⊠beautiful. There simply wasnât another way to describe it. From the elegant way her limbs twisted to the rhythm of music, to her long flowing scarlet hair, to the fluttering purple cloth that she streaked through the air with her movements. Mary was simply mesmerized as she watched, mouth slightly agape. People like this woman⊠she was sure that they only existed in fairy tales. The room itself seemed to dance around her, and when the song ended it took a moment for reality to catch up.Â
Mary blinked from behind her glasses. Was it over? Oh no! She hadnât even applauded! But before she could even process what was happening the woman was already making her way to the door. Mary shot up from her table on impulse, nearly knocking her entire seat back. She took quick steps towards the door as well, chasing after her.Â
"U-Um, excuse meâŠ!" The woman didnât hear her. "Miss!" Without any choice Mary cut in from the side in an attempt to stand in front her, but she was shoved aside without a second thought. Maryâs glasses went askew on her face as she attempted to find her balance again. No! She was leaving! Already the woman was out the door and charging towards who knows where. Mary adjusted her glasses and quickly hurried, catching herself on the door frame with her hand and calling out out into the street. Â
"Wait!" she cried, face going beet red as she realized how loud her voice was. "Your dance! It was⊠lovelyâŠ" Her voice went quieter and quieter with every word. Goddess, what was she doing? If she was going to chase someone down with a compliment she should at least make sure it was a compliment worth hearing. Her eyes fell to her shoes in shame.Â
Selena gaped as the mousey-looking woman darted before her- she wasn't actually that small, now that Selena thought about it- she was fairly tall. Taller, in fact, that Selena herself- though it was only by an inch, it sorta stung.
"My dance?" Any irritation she had was washed away by shock. Someone besides that bandanna-wearing hooligan had liked her dance? And someone so obviously mousy and shy looking.Â
Well, she couldn't hide it. She was honestly flattered. Her cheeks flushed and she couldn't help a small smile at the compliment.
"Thank you..." Selena said. "I wasn't... expecting that. Who are you, anyway?" She chuckled as she took in the woman's disheveled state. "Your glasses are... how you say, messy?" She reached out, straightening them. "I'm Selena."
Story of My Life | Selena and Candace
The sky was so beautiful in winter - and Candace had been taking the last several days as an opportunity to appreciate this fact before winter slipped away in its entirety. The last few days had been increasingly warmer and warmer - and while the weather was still dreadfully cold, prompting Candace to bundle herself up in many layers of protective warmth, all the tell-tale signs that Spring was on its way in meant that Candace would simply have to savor sky-watching before its arrival.
Well, that was the reason she told herself, anyway. It was also nice to be out of doors and clear her head. Somehow it didnât feel very good to be in her room right now, and she didnât want to really delve too deeply into the reasons for why. But under the stars, bundled up against the coldâ here her mind was blissfully at peace.
That was, of course, until she heard her name. A somewhat familiar voice had called to her - and she turned, recognizing itâs owner with a small thrill.
"S-Selena?"
The thrill escalated into mild panic as she shuffled to her feet, boots crunching in the snow as she stood and faced the other woman. âD-dangerousâ?â Was it? She looked this way and that, as though flustering up in preparation for some unknown threat to swoop in on them. âDangerousâ why? What do you meanâ?! Whatâs going onâ?âÂ
"Calm down, calm down." Selena shook her head, amused slightly by Candace's flustered state. "It's late at night, is all I'm saying. Not safe for you to be all alone... what are you doing out here, anyway?"
Selena put a hand on her hip, observing the other woman. Candace had always been a nervous little thing, but she seemed somehow off tonight. Moreso than usual anyway. Sighing heavily, Selena walked over to the other woman, curling her lip slightly as she stared her down.
"Okay, spill it. What's wrong?"
((Hello all! If you'd like a starter with Selena, just inbox me! I'm sorta hopping 'round between her, Sara, and Kai right now, but I'd like to get her active in her town and wreck homes
Current rps are with Mary, Candace, Gill, and as soon as i finish the starters, Joe and Julius (hope that's ok bby I really want them to hang!). Would love more with the rest of the AP crew~ And as always, Sara and Kai are both open to new rps. I think Kai would like to interact with Carl, and Sara with Fritz? Maybe some other folk I'm forgetting right now hhhh
Anyway, please to treat the Queen well, or she'll sink her claws into you~!))
Chill, dude. | Selena and Gill
Selena sighed as the song ended. Pushing the off button on her boombox, she grabbed her water bottle, taking a long swig of water.
Flute Fields were beautiful in the early dawn. She loved coming up here to dance, under the shade of the giant tree. Workouts just seemed to go better in this place.
She wouldn't trade it for the world. Even if dancing in the snow was unbearable.
She grabbed her jacket, shrugging it on and gathering her supplies. Better to get back to the Inn and grab a shower before the morning rush started. Then a few hours of shuteye before another practice session.
Somehow, this routine didn't bother her one bit.
As she entered the main part of Castanet, she was surprised to see someone else up and about.
"Gill?" The word slipped from her lips without warning, and she pursed her lips as he looked towards her. "What are you doing up? Little early for town patrol, isn't it?"
Story of My Life | Selena and Candace
Selena sighed as her bare feet sunk into the sand.
Home sweet home. Or, as close as she was going to get to home for a long time. She glanced over her shoulder at the dark sea, towards where she knew Toucan Island was.
Well, she wasn't going home any time soon. Not till her parents appreciated her for who she was, what she could do.
Like those dumb villagers in Mineral Town had failed to.
There was no point in dwelling on that humiliation right now. She just wanted to get back to the Inn and crawl into bed.
She had to be up by five to practice her dance, after all.
As she walked through the quiet streets of Castanet, she heard a slight sound, and paused, hands tightening on her belongings.
Who on earth was up this late at night, and outside at that?
"Candace?" She breathed, spotting the other woman sitting on a bench. She couldn't see the other's face, not from this distance and not from all that hair. Ay caramba, she needed to ask her how she got it so thick.
Well, later, she would. After she figured out why she was outside.
"It's dangerous out this late at night!" Said the kettle to the pot. "Get up. What the hell are you doing!?"
A Certain Kind of Elegance | Selena and Mary
Selena struck a pose as the music ended, quietly breathing hard from her exertion.
Where was the applause?
Slowly, she cracked her eyes open, staring at the small gathering of people. They looked confused, startled, scared. Had her dancing really been that awful? She'd practiced every day for this show. Dawn to dusk, preparing eagerly for her first debut outside of Castanet.
She should have known better than to come to the sticks. Screw Mineral Town.
She took a bow haughtily, ignoring the scattered applause and the 'yeah baby' tossed at her from a man wearing a purple bandana.
Whatever. She was just going to collect her pay and go home. Sure, the money was important, but she was an artist, not a performing monkey. She wasn't going to stay where she wasn't appreciated.
Money in hand, she collected her things, stalking towards the door. As always, she carried herself with the utmost grace, only her flashing red-brown eyes revealing her fury. She needed to get out of here.
She bumped into someone, roughly shoving them away without thinking.
"Move." Her voice was tight. "I'm in a hurry."
WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?
Hmm, somewhere with really good music... somewhere where I could let it all go and just dance~!
