       attempt  is  made  to  keep   ILL   TEMPERAMENT   in  the  shadows;   if  only  for  the  sake  of  her  beloved  mother.  as  for  her  sith  of  a  father  ?  well,  the  princess  could  not  care  less.  sparing  the   DISTANT   MEMORY   of  her  father  was  not  a  practice  that  she  prioritized.  frankly,  padmé  spoke  of   ANAKIN   in  a  way  that  served  to  prove  there  was  still  love  on  her  side,  and  such  a  fact  saddened  the  alderaanian.  it  saddened  her  immensely  for   DARTH   VADER   had  made  his  stance  crystal  clear;   there  was  no  love  left  in  him.   NO   LIGHT   LEFT.   all  he  desired  was  power;  the  man  whose  blood  she  shared  did    not    care  for  them.  all  he  craved  was  to  have  the  galaxy  in  his  grip.  there  is  an  exhale  .  .  shoulders  coming  to  slump  ever  so  slightly.  leia  feels  deflated,  and  while  there  was  always   FIGHT   in  her,  she  could  not  carry  on  with  her  ways  when  she  looked  into  her  mother’s  eyes.  she  could  not   TORMENT   HER   further  with  cruel,  ill  words  towards  the  one  that  had  once  been  anakin  skywalker   (   even  while  well  deserved  ).        for  the  time  being  she  would  come  to  rest  on  the  matter  for   VADER   had  taken   life   from  all  those  that  he  had  once  loved,  and  leia  organa  was  not  about  to  take  the   HOPE.  she  was  not  of  his  caliber,  the  princess  desired  to     never     be  even  a  shadow  of  him.

       for  her  mother  she  would  endure,  and   SWALLOW   HATE.        ❛   I   BELIEVE   IT   for  i  know  you,  mother,  and  i  know  you  only  give  your  love  to  those  that  are   DESERVING   of  it.                                                                                                                                                                              ——–     i  believe  it.    ❜

  she would never hold her children’s opinions of their father against them.  they were correct, in a sense.  her anakin had become something beyond him, something dark  &  cruel.   (  although, she notes that leia’s sentiment towards her father differentiates from luke’s --- he sensed the goodness in him, however much left there might be.  padmé knows it to be there as well.  )    but to hear those words    “ i believe it ”    sends a wave through her being.  

 “ his irrational actions were out of  LOVE  once, if you could believe it. ”   a ghost of a smile weighs placid lips.  even in her demise, padmé could not blame her former lover for the measures he had gone to ensure her safety.   (  he had failed his mother, he didn’t want to fail his wife, too.  )     amber hues are cast upon her child again.      “ i do not tell you this to sway your opinion of him.  i want you to know the truth. ”      she can only imagine the things her daughter has been told, the half truths  &  the complete lies.  padmé will not stand to have her children being fed false accounts of the man who once held the world on his shoulders.         “ you deserve to know the truth. ”

   “ i know you think he’s a monster. ”   her daughter speaks so harshly of her husband ---- but he wasn’t her husband anymore, was he?  no, he wasn’t hers ;  fear drove him to mad extends,  his madness drove him to hate,  &  his hate caused them to suffer.   (  anakin, alone, did not suffer ---- the galaxy suffered in his loss of his love.  )   &  yet, her words are empathetic.  despite all of the horrible things this darth vader has done, padme will never believe that to be anakin, not her anakin.  that was not the man she loved.  she fell in love with the boy from tatooine who was selfless.  she fell in love with the man who defended what he believed in.  she fell in love with the jedi who protected all that was good, just as she did.   (  he was gone, now  &  so was she.  padme amidala was no more  &  neither was anakin skywalker.  she was replaced with a pale  &  sad  &  hollow version of herself  &  he with a sith.  )

So everyone was raving about how Luke was only in TFA for like 20 seconds and said nothing but can we actually talk about this.

He is missing, no one knows where he is, only Han sort of knows why, but there are no details. I was almost as desperate as Leia was to find him. Because he’s our Luke Skywalker, the original hero, and he’s not just our hero, but theirs. Rey literally thought he was a myth, no one knows anything about him, apart from us. I don’t know about you but I felt strangely close to him because of this.

And then everything goes up in flames and I am sat there in the cinema like “Luke please just come and save us.” I felt almost angry, but then R2 wakes up and they have the map and Rey goes to him, and then I understood.

The look on his face. I had prayed he would come and save everyone, but look at his face because he couldn’t. Luke Skywalker, who always has to save everybody. Who faced Darth Vader and the Empire to save a girl he’d seen in a hologram he didn’t even know. Who fearlessly saw the best in Vader when no one else would.

He looks so utterly defeated, like life has beaten him down and he’s been unable to do anything about it. That pure grief on his face as he looks at Rey holding his father’s lightsaber, his first lightsaber, made me feel so incredibly guilty. Because heroes hurt too. Like Han said, “Luke blamed himself.” ‘And whilst heroes are busy saving everyone, who saves them?

Mark Hamill’s acting in this scene moved me to tears. It is some of the best I have ever seen.
