Do you often find yourself worrying about things that you have no control over?
What is this, like a psych test? You sound like that shrink they made me see after the island.
Do you enjoy intellectual debates on topics like politics, religion, science or philosophy?
Depends how drunk I am and if it’s for a actual event or something.
[pm] Hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later.
Fine. But we are going to talk about the bigger problem, eventually. You know I hate feeling out of the loop, yeah?
[pm] After tonight. I swear.
[pm] Hello Mr. Queen, we don't really know eachother, however you are a friend of Dinah's, and Charlie and I are doing a birthday dinner for her tonight, if you would like to join us. I realise this is last minute, and I know you're a busy man, sorry.
[pm] Hey! I've seen you around, I think. You're one of her friends and you've been to the club. That sounds awesome. I'll be there and so will Mia.
Killer Instinct || Dinah & Oliver
"And you’re way better than any interpretation of Maid Marian."
“You bet I am.” Yeah, there was no way Dinah was any Maid Marion. “And don’t you forget it.” She was still a bit sore from her encounter with Harvey, but Dinah moved with as much grace as she could handle. She was used to these types of days, when she would rather be curled up on her couch drinking hot tea, but these dogs didn’t have that luxury. Dinah was hoping after this mission, maybe some loving homes could give it to them.
"I don’t think there are too many people Mia can be honest with, y’know? About Roy and I… what we do, what her life is. The two of them should hit it off.”
Dinah paused for a moment, thinking about it. “Yeah, those two are great together, aren’t they? You should have seen them at the house the other day, making some kind of weird salad concoction thing.” It was actually pretty good, probably better than Dinah could have done. She had absolutely no idea where they’d gotten the recipe.
Her heart raced as they stood outside the door. She could hear the barking, and it broke her heart. Anyone who could do this to innocent creatures…well they really were some of the lowest of the low.
"I got him."
“I know you do.” Dinah flashed him a small reassuring smile. She didn’t have to worry about him going rogue on her or taking it too far. It’s what made missions like these with him easy, and what drew her to him as a friend and comrade in the first place.
"Always."
Smoke canisters. One of her favorite moves. Dinah had already had her eyes trained on a few individuals, but mostly they were focused in the direction of the dogs. Two decently sized animals were going at it, despite the disruption. Growling and menacing sounds erupted from their mouths, and Dinah’s stomach sank. She droned out all other sound except those noises. Who could do something like this? She faintly heard Oliver talking about the cops, but she could care less. Dinah turned and found the nearest switches, dimming the room. It would make them more panicky, but to be honest, Green Arrow and Black Canary were at their best in the dark anyways.
“Anyone want to try and take us out before they get here?”
A few groans from the crowd, but no one really said anything. That is until one idiot spoke up from the crowd. “Hey! Get out! You’re ruining the fight!” Dinah’s blood boiled. “Oh, we’re so sorry. Please, carry on. I dare you.” She could tell the general direction where the voice had come from, but didn’t find the source until—Ah, there he was. Staring at her like he had a death wish. She wasn’t that type of girl, but she sure as heck wasn’t one to let something like this go lightly. “Can you break up the fight?” Dinah gestured at the ring, hoping Ollie had someone in his quiver of tricks to break up the two snarling dogs in the pit. She took off in the direction of the man, her sharp eyes already adjusted to the dimness of the room. In a matter of seconds, Canary had him incapacitated, cuffs around his wrists. “Anyone else feel like speaking up?”
He had to hand it to Dinah. Just a few days removed from her bust up with Harvey Dent and the girl was back in action. Dinah wasn't one to turn down the call of someone who needed her, especially when the call came from something close to her heart. The run-in with Harvey had been for Charlie. This was for every dog that had been abused or manipulated by greedy assholes looking to make sport out of 'em. He felt the swelling in his chest, a mix of anger and empathy as they took in their surroundings. The cops were on their way and still, there were people in this room who had the balls to accuse them of ruining the fight. He didn't have to say anything. Dinah did all the talking for both of them when she slapped the handcuffs on him, but she'd also thrown in a request to break up the dog fight and now, Oliver might as well have been standing with his pants around his ankles trying to figure out how to get two pitbulls away from each other without losing an arm or a finger. "Working on it..." He shot back, but he was out of ideas.
The room was still emptying. The floor stank of blood and booze, a mixture that made Oliver's stomach turn. He glanced around, looking for something he could use. He didn't trust any kind of knockout gas. It was made for humans. Who the hell knew what kind of effect it'd have on dogs? For all he knew, it would kill them. He was all fresh out of uncooked meat besides from the stuff that clung to his bones. How did these people usually do it? He was about ready to throw his hands in the air when he saw them. Two hoops attached to long sticks, the kind they used at the zoo to manouevre animals. "I got it!" He called back, mumbling a secondary 'I think' before hopping over the makeshift betting counter. Most of the patrons had grabbed as much money as they could on their way out, but a few stray, wrinkled dollar bills dotted the concrete floor. All this, for some measley stacks of twenties. It was easy to not give a crap about money when you'd had it your whole life, but he would never be able to figure out why people did this shit. "Hey buddy!" He called, tossing a stick toward the confused looking bald guy who had just come out of the bathroom and picking up the other for himself. "You missed the party. Get the other one, and you'll miss the trip to jail, too. You got me?"
It was a risk. The guy might have used the stick as a weapon, tried to take Oliver out with it, but he would have failed. Canary was doing the round-up, securing all the individuals they'd knocked unconscious on their way in with handcuffs and zipties - a neat little gift for the cops and animal control when they showed up. Oliver's glaring eyes never left the man with the stick, and after a moment, he gave a nervous nod.
"S-sure."
"Good. I'll get the brown one."
There it was again, the swelling in his chest. He knew most of the animals in this room would need to be put to sleep. They'd been too badly injured or had too much violence and fear bred into them to rehome. He might not be able to save them in the long run, but he could do this. Some effort, struggle and scuffling later, he and the man he'd come to know was called 'Drew' had secured the dogs in separate cages. "Now get out of here." He didn't need to tell Drew twice. When the place was deserted, Oliver turned, empathy crossing his features as he looked at Dinah. "You okay?" She wasn't. He knew that. But sometimes, it wasn't about the answer. it was about the fact someone had cared enough to ask.
[pm] I don’t care if you use humor to deal with it, just don’t make a joke like that publicly where I have to see it.
Good luck with your re-opening, anyway.
[pm] Yes ma'am.
[pm] What are you trying to do?
[pm] Nothing. Didn't think about it. Humor's kinda my go to defense. It was dumb and I fucked up.
Late To The Party || Oliver, Dinah & Roy
Roy left the firehouse as fast as he could, barely stopping to put on his Red Arrow suit. He didn’t even waste any time telling Victor where he was headed, he just jumped on the bike, quickly contacted Ollie and started driving to the location Dinah had given him. The closer he got to that little red dot on his GPS the harder it was to focus on the road. He passed a few red lights too, but finding Two-Face and putting an end to this story was far more important than a stupid ticket. After what felt like an eternity he reached his destination. As soon as he got off the bike Roy grabbed his bow and ran toward the familiar figure standing –or, more accurately leaning on her own bike- in front of the building. “Where is he? What happened?” He quickly looked her over, lowering his weapon, concern overcoming his rage for a second as he offered Dinah his free hand “Are you alright?”
Oliver: Don't tell your network, Bane had said. Oliver hadn't even had the chance. Two-Face had re-entered the equation and like the protective crew they were, they'd all sprung to Charlie's defense. The man's history was rich and varied. Once he had been a white knight, a savior of Gotham City, someone who put the bad guys away. Now, he was one of the bad guys. He'd killed Dinah's neighbors, he'd threatened Charlie, and in the absense of anyone else to take out the last few weeks of frustration on, Harvey was gonna pay. Oliver sped up on his bike, skidding to a stop next to Roy and Dinah. Roy had beaten him there. He was already checking on Dinah. Oliver scanned her, anger rising like an animal in his chest. There was way too much of it lately. He hid it all behind smiles and jokes, but he could feel it bubbling, rising to the surface. Dinah's neck was red and bruised, like someone had choked her, and her breaths were shallow and pained. "Where is he?"
Dinah knew it would be a stupid idea to drive her bike right now, so instead she waited for Ollie or Roy to meet up with her. It would be a waste of breath calling them now, she knew they were probably close. She tried her best to smile at Roy as he walked towards her. "Oh, ya know. Roughed him up a bit. Put the cool in school and taught him a lesson. He's not going to hurt her anymore." She saw the concern plastered all over his face and waved him off. "I'm fine, see?" She tried to stand up, wincing a little. Oh man, that hurt. "Okay maybe not fine, I might need a ride home." Then Oliver pulled up, and Dinah could already detect the anger coming off of him in waves. Not good. Her face went from teasing to dead pan, and she straightened up, despite the pain shooting down her side. "Gone." No, Harvey wasn't. But Dinah wasn't about to let Oliver know that. "I took care of it."
Roy raised his brow. “Roughed him up a bit? I told you to leave some for me!” He put away his bow and shook his head. “Seriously, you should have waited. I had a few choice words for him too, y’know?” And a couple of arrows. Make that three or four, considering how she couldn’t even stand up straight without pulling a face. “I can give you a ride, no problem. I kinda owe you a few of those.” Roy forced out a smile and quickly added “We should pay Pieter a visit tomorrow. And celebrate.” When Ollie arrived he offered him a small nod. “Hey, Green.” The way he clenched his jaw was a dead giveaway: Ollie was furious, probably as much as him. Despite all his anger though Roy visibly relaxed after that ‘gone’: he wasn’t sure about what went down in that warehouse, but he knew how deeply Dee cared for Charlie; if she said she took care of it then there was nothing more he could do. Besides, Ollie was as tense as a bowstring. “Can you believe her? She went ahead without us, got all the fun!” Jokes and fake laughs were the only way Roy could deal with the situation at hand.
Oliver's breath rose and fell in his chest, heavy and uncomfortable. It didn't matter how deeply ingrained in him it was that Dinah could handle herself, part of him would always want to rush to her aid. He supposed that didn't go away when people cared about each other. They all had the same instincts for Mia, Roy, Charlie and each other. "I hope you left him with both sides of his face as ugly as the next." He stepped closer, getting a better look. "Mid-Nite should probably give you an X-Ray or something, just to be safe." Roy's words were joking, but Oliver couldn't crack a smile. He lowered his eyes, knitting his eyebrows together as he let out a sigh. "I'm just glad he's out of the way. He is out of the way, right?"
Dinah bit her tongue, still reeling from the incredibly intense experience she'd just had. She literally witnessed the transformation of man to monster and back again. How the heck could she explain that? It left an uneasy feeling in her stomach, and she wasn't quite sure what to do. She shrugged. "Sorry Arrows, if you wanted a piece of the action, you should have gotten here faster." She was glad they didn't. Dinah glanced from her bike back to Roy. "Can you drive it back?" She couldn't leave it out here all night..."Just be careful." Dinah instinctively covered up her neck with her hand as Ollie took a closer look. "I'm fine, Oliver. Seriously, it's not that bad." She nodded, not wanting to explain more of what happened up there. "He told me he'd leave Charlie alone."
Roy rolled his eyes and shot her an annoyed look. “Faster? The only one who could have gotten here faster is Charlie. Not everyone has cool teleporting powers, remember?” Her next words surprised him. He’d lost count of all the times he’d asked her to drive her bike. Apparently all he needed was to get her really hurt. Not exactly worth it, but the fact she trusted him with it brought a small smile to his face. “You sure? I mean, huh, course I can. I’ll treat her real good, don’t worry.” That satisfaction was short-lived though. “Wait, he told you? That’s it? But you two fought. You taught him a lesson, right?” Roy shot Ollie a glance. For some reason he doubted that explanation would be enough for Green Arrow. It definitely wasn’t for him. The only reason he managed to swallow back his all his questions were Dinah’s wounds. “You know what? This ain’t the place to talk about that. Right, Ollie?” His hair stood up where he pushed his finger through it before finally adding “We should just all get back and then you can tell us everything.”
Oliver took everything in. He didn't think they could trust Two-Face as far as Charlie could throw him. The man was clinically insane, violent, and obsessive. Part of him might be able to be reasoned with, but the other... "Yeah," he agreed, not giving voice to his concerns. "Let's head back to the Cave. I have some medical stuff you can use if you really don't wanna go to Mid-Nite."
Dinah glanced up at Roy, hoping he would stop. "Did you really expect anything else?" She did hurt him. She was pretty sure she broke his wrist at least, but it didn't feel like any kind of victory. She broke him down until he did what she said and left, what kind of win was that? But if it kept Charlie safe...then she'd deal with it. She wondered briefly if she should check in on Harvey tomorrow. Thankfully, they got the hint...well, kind of. "No, that's okay. I really just want to go home." She had medical supplies, she had her bed. She was exhausted and in pain and she wanted to see Charlie. "He's done harassing Charlie," she said again, more sternly this time. "Trust me." She also didn't want to answer their questions.
Roy studied Ollie. There was something he was keeping to himself, it was obvious in the way he hesitated before answering. Dinah’s question distracted him from that thought. “I kinda expected you to wait for us, to be honest. Maybe we wouldn’t have to bother the Doc or use up any medical stuff.” Roy knew she wouldn’t accept Ollie’s offer even before she spoke: she had refused to stay with Oracle and Charlie when Roy had suggested that, no way she’d pick the Cave over her own place, no matter how cursed it was. “Fine, back to your place it is. Just let me park my beast and give me your keys.” He moved toward his own bike, his heart bleeding a little at the idea of leaving it out in the open, even if just for a while. Roy promised himself to come back here for it as soon as possible. As he walked past Ollie he lowered his voice and did his best to make sure she couldn’t hear him “Hey, we’re still gonna keep an eye on him, right? Her? I trust. Him? Not so much.”
Once upon a time, Oliver might have argued. On any given day, actually, he might have argued, but the fact Bane was coming after him, the fact Bane had warned him not to tell anyone, it was heavy on his mind. It was a distraction Dinah didn't need right now. She might have been beaten up, but Charlie was safe. She believed Two Face would keep to his word, and that meant she was happy, or close enough. "Yeah, home it is. We'll keep an eye on Two Face before we decide what to do next, right?" He managed a small smile, giving Dinah's shoulder a gentle squeeze before nodding toward his bike. "C'mon, Pretty Bird. Hop on. I think you got a teenager who wants to come home."
Comm @ Green Arrow
Red Arrow: Dee's found Two-Face. I'm sending you the location. [Pauses to send him the coordinates] She's already there, I'm on my way.
Green Arrow: That son of a-- Pretty shitty week, huh? On my way.
[pm] Yeah. Basically the only millionth person who was two inches away when it happened and had to be responsible for fixing it. Not that it mattered, in the end.
[pm] Sometimes I joke about shit so it upsets me less, okay? Anyway, it's gone now.
That is the farthest thing from funny.
[pm] Thanks for being the millionth person to tell me that.
Woah, hey dude.
Blondie that’s a shitty way to try and get people into your club.
[pm] Yeah, it was. I took it down. Sorry bro.
[pm] Just a tad.
[pm] I'll take it down.
[pm] Your denial does not change what I know, Oliver Queen. Your other self is in my grasp. I do not respect you.
You will stay in your place. You will not notify your network.
Carry on with your duties. Keep this knowledge in your mind.
That is all, Green Arrow.
[pm] You are on some really bad drugs, son.
[pm] Good thing we know the truth, huh?
Speaking of people figuring out who you are… Most of the Bats know who I am. Probably all of them. I guess I’m not cut out for all this secrecy crap, sorr— I don’t want to put your identity in dange— It just kinda happened.
[pm] Doesn't surprise me, bro. Now that the Bat's back in town... Think he knows pretty much everything. We got a bigger problem.
[pm] Way later. Not like…a week.
[pm] It;s been like... three, hasn't it? Okay, okay, maybe it's in bad taste.
