He will always be there through sickness and health...
The locker room was buzzing with the usual pre‑show energy, but you were in your own little bubble, sitting on the bench and tightening the straps on your boots. You rolled your shoulders out of habit, trying to loosen the tension that had been building all day. The nerves were there, sitting low in your stomach, familiar but still uncomfortable.
You were adjusting your wrist tape when you felt a pair of arms slide around your waist from behind. Warm, steady, familiar. Seth always held you like he was returning home after a long day, even if he had only seen you ten minutes ago.
“You’re quiet,” he murmured, his breath brushing your cheek. “Too quiet.”
You smiled, leaning back into him. “Just thinking.”
“About the match?” His hands moved slowly along your waist, thumbs brushing the fabric of your gear in a way that made your shoulders relax without you even realising.
“Yeah,” you admitted. “I don’t know. I’m just… in my head.”
Seth hummed softly, the sound low and comforting. He pressed a kiss to the side of your head, lingering there for a moment. “You’ll be brilliant. You always are.”
You turned in his arms, resting your hands on his chest. His gear was already on, the black and gold catching the light. He looked at you with that warm, steady gaze that always made your heart settle.
“You’re biased,” you teased.
“Completely,” he said, smiling. “But I’m also right.”
You laughed quietly, and he leaned in, brushing his nose against yours. “Give me a kiss before you go.”
You didn’t need to be told twice. You slid your hands up to his jaw, and he kissed you slowly, deeply, like he wanted to take every bit of your nerves and replace them with something steadier. His hands held your waist, pulling you closer, and for a moment the world outside the locker room didn’t exist.
When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours. “Go show them who you are.”
You nodded, feeling steadier than you had all day.
The crowd was loud, the lights bright, the adrenaline sharp. Everything felt normal until the moment it didn’t.
Bayley whipped you into the corner with more force than expected. You tried to adjust your footing, but your boot slipped on the canvas. You hit the turnbuckle at a bad angle, your shoulder taking the full impact.
A sharp, sickening pain shot through your arm. It felt like something shifted out of place, like your shoulder wasn’t where it was supposed to be.
Your breath caught. Your hand flew to your shoulder instinctively.
Bayley’s eyes widened. She mouthed, “You okay?” You barely nodded. You tried to lift your arm, and nothing happened. It hung uselessly at your side, throbbing with every heartbeat.
The referee came over, checking on you. You insisted you could finish, even though your vision blurred for a moment. You pushed through the last minute of the match, relying on your legs and your good arm, but every movement sent another wave of pain through your shoulder.
When the bell rang, you exhaled shakily. You had made it. Barely.
The moment you stepped through the curtain, the adrenaline drained out of your body and the pain hit harder.
And Seth was already there.
He reached you before anyone else could, his hands on your waist, steadying you. His eyes scanned your face with a level of worry that made your chest tighten. “Hey. Look at me,” he said softly. “What happened?”
“My shoulder,” you whispered. “I think it popped out.”
His jaw clenched. He guided you gently to sit on a crate, kneeling in front of you. His hands hovered near your injured arm, careful not to touch anything that hurt. “Can you move it at all?” he asked.
You tried. A small movement sent a sharp bolt of pain through you, and you winced hard.
Seth’s expression softened instantly. “Alright. Don’t try again. I’ve got you.”
The medic arrived, but Seth didn’t move away. He stayed right beside you, one hand on your thigh, grounding you. The medic confirmed what you already knew. Your shoulder was dislocated.
“We need to put it back in,” the medic said. “It’ll hurt, but it’ll be quick.”
Seth squeezed your hand. “I’m right here. Look at me, not at them.”
You nodded, focusing on his eyes. The medic worked quickly. There was a sharp, sickening jolt, and you gasped, tears springing to your eyes.
Seth pulled you into his chest the moment it was done, holding you carefully, one hand on the back of your head, the other around your waist. “You did so well,” he murmured. “I’m so proud of you.”
You let yourself lean into him, breathing through the fading pain. His heartbeat was steady against your cheek, grounding you more than anything else could.
“You scared me,” he said quietly, his lips brushing your hair. “I saw you holding your arm and I knew something was wrong.”
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
He pulled back just enough to look at you, his hands still holding you gently. “Don’t apologise. Injuries happen. You did nothing wrong.”
You swallowed hard, your eyes stinging again. “It hurt so much.”
“I know,” he said softly. “I wish I could’ve taken it for you.”
You reached up with your good hand and touched his cheek. “You being here is enough.”
His expression softened in that way that always made your chest tighten. He leaned in and kissed you, slow and careful, mindful of your shoulder. It was warm and steady, the kind of kiss that told you everything he couldn’t put into words.
When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours. “I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you too,” you said, your voice barely above a breath.
You had a backstage segment to film, nothing physical, but you still needed to go out there. Seth stayed with you while you got ready again, helping you adjust your gear so it wouldn’t pull on your shoulder.
He brushed a strand of hair behind your ear and kissed your forehead. “You don’t have to do this if you’re not up for it.”
“I can handle it,” you said. “It’s just talking.”
He nodded, though he still looked like he wanted to wrap you in bubble wrap. “I’ll be right here when you get back.”
You smiled. “I know.”
He cupped your face gently and kissed you again, soft and lingering. “For luck,” he murmured.
You walked toward the hallway, your arm held close to your body, your shoulder still aching. But you felt steadier. Stronger. Loved.
You glanced back once.
Seth was watching you with that soft, proud smile again, arms folded, eyes warm.
And you knew that no matter what happened out there, you’d be alright.
Because he’d always be waiting for you.
A short one for today!! Thank you so much for reading!!!

Hey, can I just send a collective “fuck you” to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter for trying to push this narrative that Seth’s knee injury is a massive work?
Specifically, I want to call out this line that they wrote in an article yesterday: “[…] and that both talent and production people were worked into thinking it was legitimate.” I’m sorry, but if that were true, it would be massively stupid and unsafe on WWE’s part, because it breaks trust. It creates apathy, which means that the next time something serious happens, people might not take it seriously.
Granted, I’m already not a fan of the practice of faking a big injury to disguise a smaller one. But it feels like all Dave and Bryan care about is this narrative that Seth is playing us all for fools (which, by the way, I don’t think Seth would do regarding his knees). It feels scummy and jaded and disrespectful as hell.
I totally agree with you 100 percent, this is a serious injury, they need to stop with all the nonsense and let Seth heal up and come back on his terms
