"All we wanna do is be free. All we wanna do is break the chains off." Image taken by @imperious_images06 I keep coming back to this photo because when we shot it I had no idea the VOLUME it spoke until recently. It was just a scene that was set. I appreciate you having the vision Jameer! We have to break free from the physical and MENTAL shackles. In EVERY aspect of life. I'm working on me.

#BUTWHY!? #SelfLove ✊ My replies: "@africaninamerikkka essentially you're saying that because "OTHER" people highlighted what black beauty is HUNDREDS of years ago and people were brainwashed into believing it then it makes it ok to only promote one version of black beauty. If that's the case then you are no better than the "other" people. Respect those facts. All I'm stating is that this idea that a black woman is ONLY beautiful and truly BLACK if she's all of these things is in factual and hypocrisy. It is not my fault that some where down the line I have white ancestors that gives my mother green eyes and reddish brown hair, and gave me a lighter complexion and a slim figure. All that's doing is promoting self hate and dividing us as a people again. When the realization of black beauty should be universal to ALL black people no matter there shade, shape, or size. I have always felt like an outcast because I wasn't all those things and it took me to get older to realize that I am black and I am beautiful. So please think about the implications in your statement. Have a good day King. I'm sorry but that's ignorance. I'm 21 born in 1993. Not 1793. I haven't had anything. What I have had is being made fun of as a child and even as an adult because I do not look like the "ideal" black woman. "time in the light" haha you have to be kidding me this is the time to promote BLACK BEAUTY, as a whole to unite the people AS A WHOLE yet you want to put on the white mans cap and dictate who should be considered BLACK at this moment???? What kind of hypocrisy are you drinking from?? I think that dark women are beautiful, absolutely without a doubt. I've been envious since u was a child and that's because if people like you blaming me and my shade and shape for something that I had ABSOLUTELY no control over. That's UBSURD. Why do we have to bring one group down to rise up another if we are all one people???? The light vs dark was created by the white man to divide us and control us and it has proven true and apparently from what you're saying is STILL being adopted by the negroes. Please wake up. You're doing nothing but promoting self hate. It's sickening. "
"Dear Summer, I look froward to your weather but I'm afraid when you arrive things won't get better. Matter of fact they might get worse more young people lay in a hearse, the pain grows as the snow melts and the rain goes. I mean I appreciate the rainbows but the amount of houses spray painted with the names of those young people who won't get a chance to see their potential. A bullet hit him on purpose or accidental it weighs heavy on my heart especially my mental. RIP I know it means in peace they rest or how the hearts were ripped from their loved ones chest." DEAR SUMMER by @basheerj For some reason my heart is heavy tonight.....
EXACTLY what we were just talking about yesterday! Shameful. @basheerj @cleveland_renaissance_movement @vantage_point2 @aubrey_roses I don't know much about the Greek life but I remember before I went to college i wanted to join a sorority because I thought it symbolized sisterhood/brotherhood, unity, black excellence, and the empowerment of blacks. And so much more! What kind of leadership is this??? with @repostapp --- "Amid nationwide protests against police brutality and the failed indictments of Officers Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo, the oldest black sororities Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta are instructing their members not to wear their Greek letters while marching. The directive is pissing off some members and disappointing others."--- http://jezebel.com/first-black-sororities-tell-members-not-to-wear-logos-w-1668796973 I saw this article yesterday and I found it very interesting---and very much so after having a conversation with one my frat brothers about Black Organizations (particularly Black Greek-Lettered Organizations) inactivity during these times or racial inequality and need for social justice. Black Greek Lettered OrganIzations were established during times of racial inequality, civil rights and need for social change. And in most cases, these BGLOs were in the forefront of these battles. So besides, hypothetically speaking, a soror or frater is caught looting or doing something inappropriate in their letters, what are some of the issues with #D9 members wearing letters? It would be a nice gesture of solidarity and stand for what the original foundation of our organizations were created. Many comments charged the idea of "image control. How do you Greek feel about this? #Protest #AlphaPhiAlpha #AlphaKappaAlpha #KappaAlphaPsi #OmegaPsiPhi #DeltaSigmaTheta #PhiBetaSigma #ZetaPhiBeta #SigmaGammaRho #IotaPhiTheta
