Hello, hello! I'm back at again with a review, and this one, oh my gosh. This book was just so good. From the moment I picked it up it sucked me in and I almost couldn't put it down. It definitely fucked with my sleep schedule, let me tell you!

Love??? The world building?? It's fantasy + post-apocalyptic + historical Victorian + so many other things, yet it doesn't feel jumbled and confused. It feels distinct and like a set world, it's lovely and unique. Fallout + fantasy + necromancer, it is such a cool combo.

I've read a couple necromancer books before but not one about a necromancer who truly summons undead armies for nefarious means such as war, so this is exciting. And I love seeing Orpheus have to face the consequences of his actions in real time. Having been so sheltered in the Gilded Palace, then leaving it and seeing the world for the first time, but not only the world, the world that his magic helped shape. It's really cool writing.

Love the dynamic between Orpheus and Fenrir, the grumpy/sunshine vibes!! Fenrir slowly working his way under Orpheus' armor and making Orpheus like him!

The twist!! I love it!!

Just a phenomenal book. Such fun and funky world building that shouldn't work but totally does, with two MMCs that are snarky and raw and emotional and working through rough and gritty things that will leave you truly wanting to read just one more chapter.

nobody will ever love as big or hard or wholly as keita mori did. this man saw a vision of the love of his life, and then not only made every choice of his own life in service of meeting said love, but literally shaped global politics to ensure he met said love. im talking like nudged wars into action and brokered peace amongst enemies INTERNATIONALLY. just to make sure he and his man ended up in the same place at the same time. and it wasn't even a guarantee that they'd be together romantically. but it was still worth it just to meet him.
