Don't let tumblr leave you believing that witchcraft and magic is 100% aesthetic.
Sure, there are pieces that are important. Crystals, colors, correspondences.... but there is NOTHING aesthetically pleasing when it comes to what witchcraft boils down to- need.
Witchcraft is a tool of need, and utilizing every power within your reach to obtain your needs, wants, and desires.
Witchcraft is dirty, bloody, and begging. Witchcraft is merciless, it's powerful, the power that you put behind it magnifies it. Your rage can be just as destructive as your healing and creation.
A smeared bloodstain and hastily muttered curse words is just as powerful as rose petal encrusted candles and poems that took days written for your deities.
A battle cry is just as touching as a melody, to the gods, sometimes greater.
If all you have is a spiral notebook with math notes in the front of it, a couple of herbs you picked outside, and a rock you like in your pocket then that is magic.
Ultimately your tools are something that connects to you. it doesn't need to be a 85$ tarot deck you bought online. You can make your own tools, your own rules, and goddamn what isn't beautiful and aesthetic about the raw fucking power of that.
so go bang some sticks together and scream your intent to the sky. Your witchcraft is meant for you, not for tumblr photos and instagram posts. đŻ
Found in a witch group on FB. I cackled.

***PLEASE be smart and do extensive, thorough research or consult a healthcare professional before smoking or ingesting herbs of any kind! Some plants may have negative side effects or become straight up poisonous when smoked, may interfere with certain prescription medications, or may be harmful to pregnant women!***
The cannabis plant is extremely versatile when used in witchcraft. It serves many purposes based on your intent and works as a magickal amplifier to boost spells. So even if you donât smoke, you can use the dried flowers and leaves in things like incense blends or herbal sachets to amplify your intent and help manifest your goals. Regular users already know that cannabis has the ability to put you a very relaxed state physically and/or mentally, so itâs ideal for meditation and divination!
Magickal correspondences: Meditation, manifestation, healing, clearing negative energy, love, sex, money, abundance, protection, sleep, communication with spirits, cursing, and death.
Indica strains are best used for: Self love, healing, meditation, protection, and psychic work.
Sativa strains are best used for: Love, lust, luck, money, creativity, and curses/hexes.
Below is a list of various plants you can smoke with cannabis! Please note that these will not get you high, they mostly just affect the taste and smell of the smoke:
đ Rose petals - love, beauty, confidence
đ Lavender - relaxation, healing, sleep
đ Mint - love, luck, money, protection, clearing negativity
đ Ground cloves - money, clearing negativity
đ White horehound - protection, mental clarity, creativity, balance
đ Blue lotus petals - divination, opening of the mind, connecting with deities
đ Mugwort - protection, psychic powers
đ Red raspberry leaves - protection, femininity, easing menstrual pain
đ Passionflower - attracting friendships, prosperity
đ Mullein - protection, communicating with spirits
đ Hyssop - healing, protection, breaking hexes/curses
đ Skullcap - love, fidelity, peace, meditation, healing from loss
đ Bergamot - protection, prosperity
đ Damiana - lust, love, relaxation
đ Catnip - bonding with your familiar, promoting happiness and kindness, easing menstrual pain
Have fun experimenting my fellow stoner witches, and above all, be safe! đ±

Sigil Baths
What is a sigil bath?
Simply put itâs a bath that you can put sigils into and to activate them without using fire. Itâs a wonderful way to practice âin the forestâ magic or if youâre in an apartment safer to do.
They are great for glamour, beauty, cleansing, and pretty much any other thing you can think of. Make sure the sigils in the bath donât âfight each otherâ. By this I mean, putting a sigil for âenergyâ in the same bath as a sigil for ârelaxationâ isnât beneficial. Likely, the two would cancel each other out. Make sure they correspond together and work well such as a job success sigil with a luck sigil and confidence sigil used together before an interview. Or a happiness sigil used with a self-love sigil after a bad day.
What you will need:
Sigils of your choice
Washable markers
Paper (lined or printer)
Salt (any kind, I use epsom)
Moon Water
(optional) Bubble Bath of choiceÂ
(optional) Sachet of Herbs that correspond with Sigils
Steps:
Gather your supplies together and make sure your bathroom is clean as well as the tub. Find the sigils you wish to use. Meditate or center yourself if needed.
Select the colors of markers you wish to use. I recommend you use colors that correspond with the purpose of your sigil. On the either torn or cut down pieces of paper so they are about palm sized, draw a sigil. For each sigil use a different piece of paper. If wanted you may write words on pieces as well or with the sigils.
Start your bath. Make sure it is warm but not scalding. As the water fills add in your bubble bath if you wish to use it and your sachet of herbs if you wish to use them too.
Once tub is half filled add in your salt, I usually add about a tablespoon maybe two so I donât get dry skin. Pour in your moon water as well.
Place or sprinkle the sigils into the bath then get in.
Soak and relax, meditate if you can. The sigils in the bath will fade due to the washable ink and they will activate inside of the bath. Feel their energy and think about their intent, feel how they charge the water.
Once you are satisfied with your bath remove the paper carefully from the water before draining to prevent clogging.
Continue on with the rest of your day!

You may let the tea lights burn out or you may blow them out to close the spell
You may burn, shred or bury your paper after the spell
Dream Journals and Dream Work
What are Dream Journals?
Dream Journals are notebooks or journals that contain information recorded about oneâs sleep patterns and dreams. These dreams recorded can be everything from simple dreams, to dream interpretations, to nightmares, to daydreams/waking dreams and self reflections on oneâs own dreams. To a witch who does dream work, they are also important record keeping books used to write down ownâs notes on dream divination, astral travel, dream walking, visions, lucid dreaming, spells and their effects.
What can I put in my Dream Journal?
All sorts of things! But some suggestions on what to put in it:
Dream Records
Dream Interpretations
Your nightly routines
Sleep records
How you feel before and after going to bed
Nightmares and the effects of them
Correspondences in Dream Work/Dream Magic
Crystals, herbs, incense, colors, animals, etc
Astral Travel notes and experiences
Daydreams you have and how they make you feel
Memorable dreams you had years ago that you still remember and why you may still recall them
Illustrations and doodles from daydreams or dreams
Images of things that keep reappearing in your dreams
Dream Divination predictions and results
âDeja vuâ events that happen that relate to a dream you had
Tea and potion recipes for sleep or dreams
Meditation exercises/breathing exercises
Favorite types of dreams (ie: flying dreams)
Notes on recurring dreams or nightmares
Information on nocturnal creatures/beings that can effect or enter dreams
Perhaps your own experiences with them
Sleep spells and dream spells
Notes on said spells
Dream encounters with deities and entities
Lucid Dreaming notes
Conditions in which you are sleeping in that night
Location, stuffed animals, blankets youâre using, number of pillows, if there is light or music/sound, etc
How do I take notes on Dream Spells?
This is a question I get rather often. Dream spells can be more difficult to âkeep recordsâ of in a sense that their effects happen when you are asleep rather than your waking life. Well here are some images of how I take notes of my dream spells straight from one of my own Dream Journals.
First, I write down what spell I am using. Here I list the spell, the ingredients in the spell and what they are suppose to contribute to this spell, my intent and things that I feel should also be noted related to the spell. Here I am trying to work on a spell to improve my dream experience and my dream recall as well as see if I can still lucid dream while using this spell. I made note of where I put this crystal sachet and also the food I ate before going to bed.
Immediately the next morning I began notes in my Dream Journal about the dream I had the night before. Here I speak of what I can remember visually and âplot-wiseâ.
I then recorded how I was when I first woke up. In this case I felt a bit tired though this is most likely due to the fact I slept longer than I usually do and how I did not immediately recall my dream until I had been moving around a bit.
After that I began notes on my spell and how each thing either did or didnât do its job. I then began dream interpretations in both the sense of how they are interpreted by the book and in some cases how I personally feel about certain things.
After my interpretations had finished I read over them again and made a summary of what the dream most likely meant.
I finished this particular Dream Journal entry with other miscellaneous notes such as what time frame I slept, how I wish to prepare for bed tonight and notes on the spell and some changes to it I am considering after some more trials.
I hope this has been helpful to anyone new to Dream Work and Dream Journals. Treat them as you would a Book of Shadows and a Grimoire, they are a magical tool to help you. They are highly personal, use whatever you wish in them. I personally like using notebooks and mine are rarely super artistic. But make them how you wish to make them, they are an extension of your craft. Good luck and happy witching~

Thank you, @ blimpeh on Twitter for this warning! ZERO TOLERANCE FOR TERFs and transphobes. Also donât exclude male and non-binary witches! Thatâs not the witch way.
I will always reblog warnings about this book. I've seen way too many people post pics of this book because it's "aesthetically pleasing" or whatever. Lister is a fucking terf and doesn't deserve the revenue from people buying her book.
Instead, consider checking out this website for a list of lgbtq+ positive/inclusive works. Here's a sneak preview of a few of the books mentioned above.
I know I recently reblogged the original post about Witch, but these resources were too great to pass up
Iâm not even trans but I bought that book thinking it was gonna give me some cool insight , just to open it and read about fucking pussy powers and I -
^^ This! Witchcraft in general has heavily gendered language, mostly IDing with femininity, wombs, and so on that I've always found disturbing and alienating.
Yeah, yâall remember what I was saying the other day? About how we still need to weed this âOnly Cis-Women Can Be Witchesâ bullshit out of the pagan community? Because itâs still a thing that some people are trying to insist upon?
-expansive Ta-Da gesture- There you have it.
Thanks for the queer-friendly book recommendations!
