Hi! Have you heard of the RCMA archive? If not - it's an archive of digitized home videos featuring queer people. Which is purposefully defined to be broad - it could be people who identified as queer at the time of the videos, to children who would grow up and identify as queer, or videos that show queer people in private. It's a great project, sharing many different stories about the queer experience. If you're interested here's a link! https://www.roamingcenter.org/home
This archive is so fantastic; thank you for sharing it with me!
They describe themselves as:
"RCMA is the steward of a participatory archive (aka “post-custodial archive”) that preserves countless hours of home movies and community videos contributed by LGBTQ+ identified individuals across Middle America. RCMA gives special care and attention to preserving video content that captures LGBTQ+ life in small towns, mid-sized cities, and rural areas. From loud and proud pride parades to childhood memories made way before coming out, we seek to represent the broadest spectrum of what it means to be Queer. On this page, you will find a few highlights from our collection. To view the archive in its entirety, click here."
This archive really cheered me up today; such a beautiful collection!

one cool thing about having an autistic dad whose special interest is underwater spearfishing is that when he catches fish he'll just call up a nearby chinese restaurant like "hi. i caught a fish. can you cook it and i'll bring my family by?" and they're like "yeah sure come on over white boy" and the fish is delicious.
it's worth adding that my mom is chinese and she always gets embarrassed by this. like she doesn't want to come to the restaurant with us. she doesn't want to be seen with the white man she caught plus the fish that her white man caught. everyone who works at the restaurant thinks my dad is awesome and compliments him + her for choosing him and we all find this very fun except for her.

“Perhaps you have forgotten. That’s one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and he’ll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and he’ll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishman—” He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. “If he ever knew, he has forgotten. ‘Move on!’ you tell us. ‘Move on! Forget what we’ve done to you. Tomorrow’s another day!’ But it isn’t, Mr. Brue.” He still had Brue’s hand. “Tomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.”
- A Most Wanted Man, John le Carré
Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor
trans actual uk - trans led and run advocacy, education and empowerment organisation
fiveforfive - collective fund for trans women and girls and transfem causes
gendered intelligence - trans led advocacy org
mermaids - supports trans youth
akt - lgbtq youth homelessness charity
loving me - domestic abuse service for trans people in england
not a phase - for trans adults
Here's some from Wales
Trans Aid Cymru - supporting trans people in wales
Queer Emporium - hub of queer businesses and events
And ones who operate in Wales but also across the UK
TIN Wadrobe - supplying clothes for trans and gnc people
G(end)er Swap - resources and events for trans style and gender expression
Adding some from Scotland I have experience with and afaik take donations, some are broader but with good trans inclusion:
Scottish Trans - Trans advocacy, information and social events. Run by the Equality Network, a broader Scottish LGBTQI advocacy group.
LEAP Sports Scotland - Sports charity that advocates for queer inclusion in sports, runs trans sports groups (Trans Active) in at least Glasgow and Edinburgh that I can absolutely recommend.
LGBT Health & Wellbeing - Not trans specific but includes trans specific, trans led and trans inclusive support and social events, and supports a variety of smaller community-run subgroups.
And another couple UK-wide:
Gender Identity Research & Education Society - Trans led charity supporting research on trans matters and education/training on trans inclusion. Does consultancy for public and private sector organisations.
Trans Kids Deserve Better - Trans advocacy and activist group led by and for trans kids. They do good work.
