omega trinity that is so avoidant and insecurely attached; curbing any and all biological urges that she has to be sociable and sated in terms of closeness with others. she's the worst when it comes to being honest about herself, going out of her way to insist that connections mean nothing; that she has risen above her omegean needs and gets by without needing anything from anyone. but we know that's not the case.
she deprives herself of any meaningful connections out of fear, or maybe anger. some part of her pins the blame on others; deflecting under the generalization that everyone leaves. that with proximity comes hurt. but, deeply rooted in her is the latter; an anger with herself. overtaking the wariness, is the sentiment that she's undeserving; that she not someone worth staying for, or that much less deserves it.
she's reactive; her instincts always agitated with how long she has denied herself the most basic of connections; scenting, casual touches of kinship with others, etc. her scent, prickly and impatient, wards off any and all approaches. despite that enter: garcia, who is particularly enticed by the idea of being with someone so "combative", though her intentions lay, for the most part, in the realm of self-interest and pleasure. to a degree, trinity is complacent with this treatment; maybe garcia's vague and selfish desires are all that she is deserving of? (for the sake of my argument and own headcannon i am choosing to frame and interpret their relationship this way, though i know its not entirely so one-sided, let me flow ok?)
now, along the lines of their strained arrangement, i raise alpha mel that, as we know, has no life of her own. she's never allowed herself the time or the space to explore her own connections, outside of her primary care-taker role for becca. her alpha instincts have compounded with her natural overprotective-ness for her sister, resulting in a one-tracked mind outside of work; dedicating all her time to her sister. and now that becca has reached an age of sufficient independence, mel has a hard time finding her footing, finding her place.
mel is not only struggling with orienting herself in the social complex of work, but in the time and space post-shift as well. her external connections are lacking, near non-existent. but her internal faculties as well, her expressions as an alpha are under-explored, that which causes a bit of confusion in how she experiences her own feelings, and those of others as well. even so, she's earnest and transparent. things are difficult, because she does not and cannot exist singularly, but also because she often finds her self on the receiving end of impatience and misplaced irritation. and yes, you guessed it, trinity "couldnt care less" santos is one of them.
for the most part, they do not interact. despite being so different, both of them can be very "in their head" about navigating everyday interactions. when they do happen to converse, trinity quickly disengages, her nature and instincts are susceptible to mel's sometimes uncoordinated way of coming across, whether that be in terms of verbal interaction, or something unintended in her scent, or posture.
things are pretty routine in terms of their relationship, until trinity is low, upsest with whitaker and his willingless to leave her as his housemate. from that singular moment, trinity taps a bit of her intolerant tendencies down and gives her and mel as friends a shot. maybe she hasnt extended her enough grace? maybe her own cynicism has kept her from seeing mel for the honest, albeit green, alpha that she is?
im gonna stop here for the sake of debating how specifically i want their romantic relationship to develop, but i know intensely that they both would grow with each other for the better.
