One thing I genuinely hate in the finale is the way they kicked Maeve for that Annie/random V-girl moment. āNever meet your heroesā when Maggie not only proved to Annie that she was the hero Annie had thought her to be (broken arm), but also stepped up and was, in her final moments as Queen Maeve, the bravest hero of ALL of them. She jumped to her death (to her knowledge) FOR Annie.
Summing up her character with something like āshe gave people too much and was hollow and bitterā does her a brutal disservice and making it sound like Annie would think that of her does Annie a disservice.
The writers treated Maeve as largely irrelevant in the last two seasons and itās just horrific. We can assume that she was the first one to make Homelander bleed, and his first love. She knew his name.
She gave Annie hope, she protected her. In that sense, she was so important for both of them.
I think I joked at least once in the past (if I didnāt post it here, know I thought it in my head!) about if there wasnāt a Maeve cameo in the final season, that they should do an Elena cameo instead, and do the really stupid heavy handed āwe couldnāt get Dominiqueā thing of Annie calling Maeve but Elena picks up and answers her own version of what Maeve would've said then like says something about going to talk to maeve off screen like āsheās totally here out of frame she just canāt come to the phone right nowā. Or if they wanna get really insane show the back of her in one shot and itās just some other actor in the same wig. Like a purposefully ridiculous situation just to show āwe wanted to but she wouldnāt do itā lol.
Or just anything with Elena because you know Nicola would take that call!!!
Queen Maeve is so gorgeous I get star struck every time sheās on screen
Re-watching season one reminded me that I really miss Maeve and Homelanderās dynamic.
#yeah
Also, these queens? I wish their characters had interacted with Maeve š¢š
not to simp on main but i do kinda sorta lowkey need a 4K UHD 360 no-scope ultra rare holo version of this poster on my lock screen right now or i. hopital

thinking about maeve smoking and annie vaping something something parallels
you know something that isnāt spoke about a lot?
maeveās extraordinary throw and aim. first that bottle she threw and gassed people with probably ended up somewhere on the other side of the world. and also when she threw that pen PERFECTLY into some guyās eye.
why wasnāt this shown or talked about more. her skill set is insane and under appreciated
this is real. the other one that gets me that is rarely ever acknowledged despite being one of the first superpowers shown on the show itself is maeve's speed! she runs fast enough to casually run along a vertical wall. like, yeah, it's nowhere near A-Train, but she can casually run at like 100+mph? which is not like a "default supe" power in this universe?
and one that was barely mentioned/just implied in the original show (but then weirdly mentioned a lot in reference to her in Gen V?) is her semi-flying by doing huge jumps - it's not exactly shown but i think it's possible she had to use that in the s2 finale because how the hell does she make a surprise entrance to a group of people standing in a wide-open field...? (idk, if she landed from the sky you'd think they'd turn at the massive impact, so maybe she just ran? But given that she's fast but not A-Train levels of too-fast-to-see, you'd think they'd see her coming that way. Maybe they were just distracted by fighting. or maybe she has an additional superpower called "Dramatic Entrace from Just Off-Camera When There's An Appropriate Cool Moment To Do So"

i want to see a fic of comic/diabolical maeve.
whether thatās her in the tv version of the boys au or otherwise
sheās the epitome of cunty and the world needs more of her
Carol Sturka's favorite sound in the whole world is a train horn. It's her favorite because it's the loneliest sound.
Carol Sturka, who learned she was different from how she was supposed to be when she was a teenager. She was betrayed by someone who was supposed to love her, who instead sent her to a conversion camp to force her to be like everyone else.
Carol Sturka, who was the only person who showed up to the survivors' meeting with a reluctantly accepted chaperone, an individual who was previously a stranger to her. When she first arrives, everyone except for her is accompanied by family members who'd joined the hive. Every survivor at this meeting tells Carol she's overreacting, that the hivemind isn't so bad, and that there's nothing they can do anyway. No one asks her why she's alone. No asks if she lost anyone during the joining.
Carol Sturka, who investigates and learns more about the hive all on her own. Despite the fact that it's too late to get her wife back, she still thinks the world is worth saving. Despite the other survivors' disinterest in her plans, she shares what she learns with them anyway, in case she can change their minds.
Carol Sturka, who gets so close to curing the infected people that the hivemind abandons her. She is completely alone for forty days.
Carol Sturka, who learns that the other survivors got her videos and ignored them. She learns they all talk on a regular basis and do not include her.
Carol Sturka, who when Koumba, the one survivor who is sometimes nice to her, sighs tiredly at her wanting to talk more about the problem, instead of pushing ahead, backtracks and says she was just kidding. She couldn't get out of there fast enough. Of course she doesn't want to stay, of course she doesn't need anybody.
Carol Sturka, who was not told that there was another survivor traveling across continents, literally almost dying, all to get to her, because of their shared goal, until he was only two hours away. She gets nervous at this news, because the hivemind makes him sound unstable. She meets with him anyway.
Carol Sturka, who tries to give in. She's tired and lonely and maybe it is easier to drink the kool aid. But she fails, because once more in her life, someone claiming to love her has betrayed her, by wanting to force her to become like everyone else.
Carol Sturka, whose favorite sound is a train horn. Who had never told a soul that it's her favorite sound. Because it's the loneliest sound in the world.
